XvT is a bad example, most ppl turned their shields off for more speed. Either way we know the Devs well enough to know if shields were added they'd also tweak the hulls so it'd be a moot point. |

It would ruin trading, PvP, just about everything. right now ballence comes in that we've all gotten used to keeping an eye on our hulls, you add player shields and that both makes it easier for the pirates who now have shields, and distracts you further in a heated fight. The same would go for getting jumped by bots in a ion storm, there would be far less risk there and as such it would just cease to be as fun or challenging. |

no and no, shields on player ships would ruin the ballence of the game so don't expect it. |

EvE and VO's similaritys can be summed up with 4 words, they're both in space, truse me when you really get into it you'll be wondering why you ever played EvE. Also hit f9 to see outside your ship. |

Originally posted by Kordesh Blah blah blah /martyr. Serously, you can be more pretentious than Mac users sometimes. Yes, the linux client support might have sucked, yeah, they're backing out. But you know what, they at least tried for you guys, and for how many years? It makes perfect sense to drop official support if there is barely a demand for the client considering the extra effort involved. Seriously, why would they add support and then just drop it for no reason if there wasn't any overhead? Did they have a board meeting and go "hey, lets go and piss off our users and garner some bad PR by doing something completely unessisary!"? Besides, you're supposed to be the "resourceful" ones right? One would think you could deal with this. Also, comparing the technological wonder that is Eve to Vendetta online is ignorant and you know it. But no, lets all turn a blind eye to this. CLEARLY its them bowing out to pressure from M$ (lol see what I did there, it's because microsoft likes money 8D) and their hatred for linux users, not the perfectly rational reason that tacking on extra manhours and development time for a whopping 100 users or so isn't worth holding development back for the 40k other members of the community. But by all means, keep your penguin shaped tin foil hat firmly affixed to your head.
I'm not going to pick on all the other crap you slung at linux cause there's really no dealing with ppl like you who have the wrong idea in your heads about it but hitting on VO like that is over the line, I've played both on both windows and linux and honestly I can say the Cedega client for EvE sucked, when you don't even have a cursor it's not a usable client. VO on the other hand has native support for not only linux, mac, and windows but BSD and many other systems and architectures and they started this from the start, with only 4 developers I might add. I also have to say the gameplay in VO is vastly superior, instead of issueing commands and sitting back and waiting you actually control your ship, you make the smallest mistake in combat and you die almost immedeatly, it takes skill not time to get ahead, IMO much etter a design. |

trex it can use a JS but most ppl prefer the mouse and keyboard method. |

Spintz, honestly the game does get updated more then alot of games out there, maybe not more then any others in the industry but far beyond what you would expect from a 4 man crew. either way the fact remains that you never asked nicely for help and just demanded help. While we want new ppl we really don't want the immature n00bish ppl, rather we want the newbs people willing to learn and become a good part of the community. |
|
|
Spintz we only do things like that to immature ppl who can't wait like what happened with you. it stands to reason with nearly 7 billion ppl on earth there's gonna be more then one immature person who stumbles upon a game. |

OP honestly I remember watching you throw that fit you call asking for help through our IRC relay and I have to say something I don't normaly like saying, you are exactly the kind of impatitant person who shouldn't be playing VO. Seriously don't expect an answer to poorly worded questions right then and there, everyone else is playing the game and someone will reply as soon as they have a free second. |

1. Vista? really? consider a linux dual boot or something (not as a solution to this problem but just general advice.) 2. have you tried anything in this thread? http://www.vendetta-online.com/x/msgboard/4/15949 |

bad experence how? seriously we're a good bunch and are more then willing to help where needed. |

defenitly a good game. Good community, great learning curve, excelent development staff (even if there's only 4 they make it a point to come into the game at least once or twice a day to see how we're doing, and looking for suggestions.) Plus how many MMOs of ANY genre are you going to find that are avalible for Linux, Mac, and winblows? |
|
|
What I recomend isn't even on that list, try Vendetta Online, it's like EvE yet not like EvE at all, more like an MMO freelancer then Spreadsheets in space. |

Well said neebles, well said. but what system were you saying slows you to 1FPS? I never get any slowdown unless I'm in a central HS mission. |

couldn't get over the fact of no shields

Honestly, I like too many things about the game to name just one. But if I had to name a few I'd say the community is one of the best I've ever seen, hunting the hive is fun and has it's many rewards, and the development team, thought only 4 ppl, comes on and talkes to us regularly and they really do listen. Let's not forget the multiplatform aspect, being a linux user it's a perfect fit for me. |

I'm sorry but that's the lamest reason yet I've seen for not liking VO. |
