SOE has gone too far now! This is pure scam!
The Tavern (General) « Everquest II 12/19/08 3:00:47 AM
I think what it really boils down too is the simple fact that people don't like being lied too, and this is exactly what John Smedley has done...and frankly has been doing for quite some time. I think that quite a few people here either don't recall or was not involved in SWG pre-NGE, i don't think they can really understand that when NGE was released entire guilds left, thousands upon thousands of players quit...or the amount of players who bought Trials of Obi-Wan only to send it back to SoE demanding a refund on a obviously incomplete expansion....due to Mr. Smedley's and staffs ineptitude and disconnection with the gaming public, Is RMT a big thing? well to be honest i can see how it can give a pssible advantage on PvP servers, yes...an advantage given to a player simply because he/she is willing to shell out more money for a 'x' weapon or 'y' armor is a way to make others shell out the same amount not just to gain a similar advantage but just to be on-par.....why bother killing that NM for that unique drop when you can give SoE an extra 10 bucks? However, the real point is Mr. Smedley flat-out said that RMT wouldn't be on non player-exchange servers...once again and very true to form he lied and did whatever he wanted, player-base be damned. When this doesn't work either and EQ2 players start leaving.....hopefully SoE will get the message and fire Mr. Smedley.
Edit: here is a very old (and very long) article from a former EQ/SWG gamer talking about SoE tactics and Mr. Smedley.

Is roleplay so hard to ask for?
Role Playing Discussion « General Discussion 12/19/08 1:52:33 AM
--Names of characters, guilds and pets -must fit- with the content of the game, example: a game such as AoC could have a player named "sparks666" anywhere but on a RP server....refusal to follow this rule is grounds for name change continued abuse is grounds for moving said character to a non-RP server. Gamers -must stay- within character in /chat, /guild, /shout and or /local at all times...speaking in /ooc is acceptable as long as said player does not abuse it, ooc in /tell is also acceptable....refusal to follow this rule is grounds for a one warning only any other abuse is grounds for moving said character to a non-RP server.-- This is the only way i know of to keep a RP server strictly for RPer's, which i believe is more effort than most places are willing to give considering that the server would have to be monitored 24/7...sure, RP'ers could 'police' the area for non-RP'ers but even that can only go so far. On top of which you have the 'Anal RP'ers' the ones who get upset because you're not RP'ing like -they- want you too or how they planned it, the power-hungry guild masters who demand people act like he/she does...and so on and so forth. There is RP out there in MMO's...but they tend to be the small flash or text based ones with 30 people who tend to be just a bit too xenophobic for my tastes. |

Hi all, The good folks at Rumbarr.net are also giving out keys too....don't mean to step on any toes or anything but just letting you know, also xWintermutex has laid out some detailed instructions to play MxO through Station Launcher Beta, here: http://www.thematrix.rumbaar.net/index.php?topic=2387.165 You'll have to scroll down a bit.
Hope you enjoy the game. |

I did a search for this but nothing came up, i apologize if this has been done before but i was wondering what starship you'll be in, if available, and the name you've picked. If my fears about this game is unwarranted i'll be in this:
Miranda Class-Crusier My ship name: U.S.S. Botany Bay (if available) |

In case anyone was curious, mxo is in fact totally dead

Vector has been hit the hardest, most of our population has went to Syntax...at least there they can find a fight.

Good times, good times. Rumor has it that the people who were trying to get E&B up and running again got a nastly letter from EA telling them to knock it off or else...so..yeah i don't think we'll be seeing it again. *shrug* sucks, but what can one do? |

AoC GameFocus Runner-Up as "Biggest Disappointment" for 2008
General Discussion « Age of Conan 12/18/08 9:13:22 PM
I agree with Gamefocus as well. AoC was one of those "ship now, fix later" games, the removal of content along with content never placed in when we expected it to be there is very clear. Now Funcom is fixing it, slowly....but at this point it may be too little too late IMHO. |

Just talking about ST:O, am i wrong on this?
General Discussion « Star Trek Online 12/18/08 8:32:30 PM
( this was going to be a response but i decided to just make a new thread because of length) Being an old school Trekkie and a old school gamer i must admit to not having much faith in ST:O being very true to the Star Trek universe...now i realize that this is jumping the gun but it's only my opinion and is by no means an attack on ST:O or the people who are waiting for this game..it's just my two cents on the subject. I think that Interplay along with Activision had the Star Trek universe down pat with 25th Anniversary, Judgment Rights,Starfleet Academy, Bridge commander...just to name a few...we've also had some really, really horrid Star Trek games over the years as well. What I'm trying to say is that Star Trek has taken a real beating over the years in the video game industry and for the handful of games that are just amazing we get tons more that are a shallow, lame attempt to sell a game on the Star Trek name...now we get a MMO that has been started, stopped...started again and finally switched to another developer...never a good sign IMHO. The concept art and ship designs we've been shown so far is...well...not very true to the universe, now i do like the ship building system they'll be having...but really, let's be honest now....we all know what ships we want, myself i want a Miranda Class...yes,yes i know she's old but she has charm and I'm certain that fellow gamers know -exactly- what they want to fly...Constitution? Sovereign? Defiant?...do we really need to change over ship design so drastically? ST:O will need to focus much, much more than just combat or exploration...but planetary research, meeting new races, relief efforts...and this is how you should be able to "level up" and/or increase rank....truthfully this should be the first MMO in which you can level to max without firing a shot. Lastly, what is the approach to death? for example if I'm ambushed by two Borg Cubes in my Miranda Class (which is brown bread against one, let alone two cubes) do i get assimilated and game over? or do we have new tech that allows clones like EvE Online? will we have to buy a new ship or will one be given to us? In the end i don't really see how they can incorporate Star Trek into a MMO without throwing a lot of things out the window, i hope I'm wrong on this...as i said i love the Star Trek universe and I'm more than prepared to come back here and eat crow if I'm wrong....but I'm very skeptical Atm. Sorry for the long post, looking forward to your response. |

SOE has gone too far now! This is pure scam!
The Tavern (General) « Everquest II 12/18/08 4:30:11 PM
I also agree with Daffid SoE as a company has been implementing questionable tactics for years and the ones to get it in the back is the customer base, and for what? the possibility of SoE making more money....which has yet to work in their favor i might add. EQ is the perfect example of SoE being hungry for player cash.....EQ was released in 1999, between 1999 and 2008 no less than 15 expansions have been released...this is the largest single grouping of expansions ever released for one game, and most of these expansions were around 30-40 dollars on release. SoE doesn't care about your support, they don't care about your dedication to them...they care about your money. |

Is it just me or is every mmorpg out now ungodly boring?
The Pub at MMORPG.COM « General Discussion 12/18/08 3:27:58 PM
Speaking for myself, i can say without a doubt that i am burned out. I don't know when you started gaming on line OP, but for me it was EQ, then to DAoC, AO, EQII...i racked hundreds upon thousands of gaming hours over the years. I've seen it all already and most MMO's are still following the same tried and true method, I'm not dazzled anymore like when i first played EQ or AO, that excitement just isn't there anymore....and other days it just feels like work. So i've been on a break for the past year...and truth be told i'm not really missing it, and it seems that i'm not missing out on much either.

Never heard of them, however i've had these for years and never had a single issue...my voice is crisp and clear to other players, they're comfortable for extended playtime, wireless and also a bit easier on the wallet.
