Are you tired of the Fantasy genre MMO?
The Pub at MMORPG.COM « General Discussion 11/17/11 4:36:29 PM
Nah, even though I have played a whole gamut of fantasy games / MMOs... I still enjoy them. Past experience includes FFXI (my favorite of the bunch), WoW, GW, L2, Aion, and most recently RIFT (which I just unsubbed from... too busy with work, Skyrim, and MTG to justify the $15 / month).
I think the only thing I am tired of is the monthly fees. Enough good games are out to keep me busy until TL2, D3, and GW2 comes out.... and already busy with Starcraft 2, Skyrim, and Battlefield 3. |

My approach to EQ Next is cautious optimism while trying to spend as little time paying attention to it.
Kinda hoping it just sneaks up on me and ends up impressing me.... like a stripper inside a birthday cake. You only expect cake, but end up getting something a whole lot better. |

Most discussed MMO on MMORPG.COM- Skyrim
The Pub at MMORPG.COM « General Discussion 11/15/11 6:06:26 PM
Maybe because Skyrim is just so flat out awesome, so incredibly addictive, that it has drawn our attention away from other games (MMOs or whatnot) even if just for a little while. Let us also assume that some people don't solely play RPGs, single player or online. Battlefield 3 and Modern Warfare 3 has also recently come out, not to mention the new Batman game.
Basically, I think that enough awesome games have come out in the most recent month or so to make us forget how much we enjoy complaining about how stale the MMO industry is. |

why do people bother with this?
General Discussion « Star Wars: The Old Republic 11/15/11 4:32:31 PM
Why would people bother with this game? Hmm....
I think it might have something to do with glowsticks. Giant glowsticks that can cut off hands, cauterize the wound instantly, and make awesome "waaaa, woooosh, vrmmmmm, brtzzzzzzzzz" noises.
With all that, who even needs to bother going to a rave? |

EverQuest: Veil of Alaris Goes Live

It is amazing, the original EQ is still going strong with the subscription model, yet EQ2 is going "F2P"...
Here is to hoping $OE doesn't screw up EQ Next! Oh, who am I kidding? |

My Experience with Rift's Customer Service [Mod Edit]
General Discussion « Rift 11/15/11 2:08:14 PM
So, you have multiple items dissapear from your bags in the first free week trial of the game... and I haven't had any such bug / glitch happen to me in several months of play. You are being denied a second item restore during your free trial (probably meaningless items you would outlevel in a day or two) and complaining about it.
Did I get that right?
My experience with Trion customer service has been great and responsive... would always get a response to in game tickets within 6 hours or less. If you want to deal with terrible customer service, try calling Dell. |

EverQuest II: Going F2P…For Real This Time
News & Features Discussion « General Discussion 11/10/11 2:42:57 PM
Problem is this line: "The F2P players will be under the same restrictions that currently exist on the Everquest II Extended server."
Yeah, no thanks. If I play a game converted to F2P, it will probably be L2. Lineage 2 is doing it right.... offer all the content for free and sell vanity / fluff items & exp potions in the shop. The restrictions in EQ2 F2P are insane... and they have a cash shop on top of it.

I will first purchase for console, PS3 in Skyrim's case. I will enjoy the game thoroughly from the comfort of my couch, playing any expansions or DLC. I will wait for the GotY edition... which will then be purchased for the PC at roughly $30. By this time, quite a few good mods will have been released, tested, and bug-fixed.
A few years ago I would have purchased for the PC and branded any console fan a blasphemous heretic... but once you start working 40+ hours per week, you really don't have the same amount of time to give a crap about that anymore. Not to mention if I focus on modding any game, it will be Torchlight 2..... oh the plans I have for modding TL2.... *drools* |

World of Warcraft: Challenge Mode Dungeons
News & Features Discussion « General Discussion 11/09/11 2:54:29 PM
Here is the problem Blizz would have with horizontal progression.... they can't release content fast enough. The only reason people run the same raid for the umpteenth time is for those last few upgrades they are looking for. If people would only run the dungeons for fun or the challenge of it (which should be the case in the first place), they would maybe complete it two or three times unless there was some incredibly awesome looking gear.... which hasn't been the case for a while. The brilliant artists that brough us the Judgement and Nemesis armor sets back in Classic are no longer with Blizzard from what I understand, and most of the gear looks whack.
I mean, if the new gear actually looked awesome, why would they need the transmog system? Oh, and if gear wasn't a deciding factor and Blizzard could actually balance PvP, what excuse could they use to not release a new class with each expansion?
Yeah..... |

Hmm....
Not really sure why, but I somehow end up resubbed for 2-3 months each year, either to try out new dungeons from patches or level a new toon. I guess my most recent stint is to get some BoA gear prepped for the next expansion....
I mean, come on.... humanoid pandas, martial arts, and a new area with asian influences? Yeah, theres some machinima comedy gold waiting right there. I am sure i'll be unsubbed in a month or two again anyways. |

Lineage 2: New Hybrid Revenue Model Coming
News & Features Discussion « General Discussion 10/11/11 8:26:05 PM
I just pray they adopt a less restrictive F2P plan than alot of the newly converted "freemium" games.
F2P + AH + Goddess of Destruction could seriously turn this game around. Might even get me playing again. |

This isn't just something you run into only in Rift. This is an issue in any questline driven MMO that allows solo play.
If you want to play with a buddy, both of you should roll toons that you will ONLY play together. If you feel like playing when your buddy isn't on, play on a different toon. That is about the only real "solution" I have to this problem. |

I have played a rogue main since launch, highest I ever got an alt was my warrior to 29. I would agree that a few things may be considered "OP" when looked at by themselves, or in 1v1 situations. In group PvP however, there are always counters to any class mechanics.
For those that say "omg, rogues OP, need nerf, DAWN OF ROGUES!!!" Yeah... please, be quiet. There are still plenty of very good players from all other 3 callings that still do extremely well. Only reason people are getting all up in arms about rogues is cause every FoTM re-roller pulled out his crap geared Rogue in expectations that they are absolute faceroll (and they are always the super low gear MM you see standing in the back with 4k hp).
You know what I say? Fine. Those MM (even the well geared ones) are super squishy and still get wrecked. Only rogue builds that are giving people issues are NB and SIN builds.... NB ones specifically, just cause they are all elemental and tend to sub RS for gap closers (anyone starting to remember 1.4 warrior builds? yeaaah.....).
Rogue calling mechanics still feel "off". Not in damage, but rather the base mechanics of many of the abilities and souls. |

Score, those two mounts will go great along side my Murdantix, Mossy Tortagon, and Crocnard mounts.
I have a serious problem with collecting mounts in this game for some reason -_-.... never had that problem in WoW. |
