Getting ripped apart on Metacritic

The 10 ratings are just as ridiculous as the 1-3 ratings. Looks like it's balancing out to be a fairly accurate score representation of the game, at least in my opinion. |

Ausgamers SWTOR review - now THIS is funny.
General Discussion « Star Wars: The Old Republic 12/21/11 7:02:54 AM
Whatever stance you want to take on SWTOR, ok cool, but can we at least keep it somewhat objective and not laughable? I saw this critic review on metacriic from Ausgamers for a 95. Was curious to look at it, so went on over to it and had to laugh when i saw this statement heading up the review. "Easily the most graphically impressive MMO to date!" .................... yeah...... EASILY..........O.o You can read the full review here if you want: http://www.ausgamers.com/games/star-wars-the-old-republic/review/ |

Let's be honest here, yes the scores of 0, 1, 2, stuff like that are ridiculous. But in my opinion it's just as ridiculous when I see a bunch of 10's in a row. Seriously? A 10 is basically flawless, exceptional in every aspect. That, SWTOR, is not. But neither is it crap enough to warrant anything under a 4 in my opinion. Personally I give 6 or 7 |

I voted 61-70. I agree that the votes on meta critic are silly - but it goes both ways. Anything 3 and under is ridiculous, but to me so is it when I see a bunch of 10's. |

Thank god for user reviews actually - the joke that was Dragon Age 2 still got a great CRITICS review on metacritic but the user reviews actually told the real tale. |

lol WOW the fanboi excuses are funny. It's a conspiracy! User reviews mean nothing! They shouldn't have a score on launch day! etc etc. Whatever...... I will agree that a bunch of 0's and 1's are a little silly, I gave it a 5. But the game is the definition of mediocrity after the story. I think a lot of the low scores are because people are angry about how underwhelming the game actually is. |

Originally posted by Yamota They went the safe route in pretty much every way because they are trying to maximize profits. They saw WOW succeed with this formula, so they are following it in almost every way. It's really that simple. Of course it could have been more, there are so many features / aspects of this game that are mediocre or "just good enough" it's insulting to call it a 2012 MMO. But what can you do? |

General Discussion « Star Wars: The Old Republic 12/19/11 4:10:04 PM
Originally posted by eycel Dude it's because many people are sick and tired of this model of mmo. It doesn't matter that there is s space combat mini game or story added, it's still a theme park mmo to the extreme. Many people do not like theme parks, and others just are tired of them after having played them for so many years. Yeah it adds story, but that's just one feature like RIFT added rifts. It's a nice new thing but ultimately it's still a generic theme park mmo underneath. |

Industry analyst claims ToR already has between 1 to 1.5 million players before a single boxed game has been sold in a shop .

A huge lanuch was guaranteed the second they announced Star Wars + Bioware + MMO. Let's see where the pop is at in 6 months and especially in a year. |

Originally posted by dinams I'll be very surprised if subs for this game are at 50% retention or a minimum of 1 million, there are too many games coming out that will draw people away and are offering at least a few new things to grab all the players tired of this model mmo - which are many. Like you, I think a lot of people are on SWTOR right now because like you said, there just isn't anything else worth playing right now. With GW2, TSW, Diablo 3, etc coming out in 2012, that won't be the case anymore. I also think once the novelty wears off a lot of people are going to get tired quickly of this game. Just like RIFT, it was AMAZING at first to everyone, then when the rift novelty wore off it was just the same game underneath - which is the case with TOR as well. After you play a class from each side to max, you've seen it. Class stories are unique but comprsie a very small percentage of your game time after starter zones. |

So the idea of playing an alt for their class story sounded awesome to me at first, but I've got to tell you, the thoughts of having to go back through some of these zones just feels icky. The first time through was helped by the story of the quests, but if you've already seen that once, twice, three times before, that whole extra is kind of over with - and some of this questing and zones just are NOT very fun. |
