I was in the first wave of beta for Darkfall, played on EU and NA at launch, and played the beta for Unholy Wars. AoW is better imo, but everyone is different.

What is the reason you wait for 100k cultivation points before doing TP?

i m waiting a long time for a game like this. not especially this one, but something like this.

i love eve, despite i dont like sci-fi games, and i m waiting much time to have a fantasy version of it. thats why i am playing AoW, but as aerowyn said, i cant get into, because of the combat mostly. i ll keep playing to find out more. i think they are doing a huge effort with this.

if you figure out a way to find the combat fun let me know because I'm at a loss

go start a fight.

done that.. done PVP.. hasn't changed how I feel about the system...

Seriously man, then you simply don't like the game. Which is ok. I don't get why people seem to think everyone has to keep trying forever. You actually took the time to do a lot of stuff (unlike a lot of people), so that's cool. You just don't like it.

The only tip I would have for people starting out (I'm new as well BTW), is PvP as soon as possible. Duel people! Seriously, because newbies fighting newbies gives you a really good feel for the combat, in a way PvE cannot do. People think: "I'm going to get more powerful than try dueling sometime"... bad idea, no really it's bad.

A lot of people already knew about black tortoise, it's just that admins finally annouced it.

Well this ought to be a bumpy ride for blue dragon.

I was thinking the same thing.  I agree with many others that that they should just wipe Blue Dragon and keep it down to two servers max.  Judging by some of the these financial decisions that Snail is unveiling slowly such as VIP being server bound and now two new servers at launch makes me think they aren't quite accounting for how a lot of western players think.  Time will tell though.  Well at least it's F2P.

you lose credibility saying something like that. That's rediculous. This is not the type of game you "just start over"

i have done it 3 times now going on my 4th.. not sure what you mean by that... if you want to try a new school you have no choice but to start over

I believe he means if you have a lot of time invested in one, only to drop it and try again. And I agree with him on that. The longer you play the more powerful your character becomes, with even more scripts over time. At least that's how the game seems so far. I don't see people starting over, but rather maybe playing two characters, with one as an Alt.

I was able to log into it and get the character creation screen. In that way it's the same as White Tiger.

I suppose I will have to decide which one to play on, WhiteTiger or BlackTortoise.

Under the server listing in game, a 3rd server called BlackTortoise is showing now. I'm all for one more server, but two more?!?! Do you guys see it too?

I agree with the OP. Because of the learning curve, the game gets better the longer you play. I have no doubt people dropped out before experiencing what the game truly had in store for them. Often companies will just put out the most simple MMORPG possible, and though that may get a lot of players into the game at first, there is very little reason for them to conintue playing. This game is the exact opposite. In the very beginning, there is just so much there. It has a longer lasting value.

There are things I like about the game, and things I don't like (if you read my posts here you would know the things I don't like), but overall it's a good game.

not sure what my issue is.. i finished the first part of the quest.. did the first instance.. unlocked all my schools weapon sets, got a couple flying skills, started a crafting prof, did some spy missions, did some caravan escorts, did some PVP... just cannot get into the game at all it just is not very fun for me which is odd because I love martial arts and the whole asian theme. I joined a decently sized guild as well but i dunno just not enjoying myself. :(

I kinda felt you were have some issue :) I was gonna pm you the other day and suggest doing gossip (miricle encounter?) quest. I haven't did any, but the mystery and getting npcs to like you seems pretty cool.

Much props Areo for giving it a honest play. Hope you find something to hang around.

think for me my main issue is the combat.. i just could not find a combination i found enjoyable. Even with several nice movement skills combat just isn't for me in this game I guess.. not to mention the horrible quest translations don't help much either heh... oh well not every game appeals to everyone this one just isn't for me I suppose:(

I'd say keep trying Aeromean time.

Actually he shouldn't keep trying, as that should only be suggested to the people who haven't really experienced much of the game. I mean sure, with the learning curve many people give up without seeing if they like the game or not; however, he isn't one of those people. For him, it would seem the game itself isn't good enough. I would say it's best he quit now then have people continually encourage him to stick it out... that's not enjoyment.

If it isn't clear already (based on my posts I have made so far), I am not in anyway a fanboy of this game. I play it, and I like it. But everyone likes different things. People here should learn to accept that, and lower the fanboism just a tad. I mean I like the game but get attacked for anything I mention that I don't like.

Overall, as I pointed out in this thread already. This is a very deep game with a high learning curve, but it has lasting enjoyment for people who like this sort of thing.

If characters were allowed to be transfered over, I wouldn't have even given the game a chance considering that I was on the fence about it. I like a more fair level playing field after beta (wipe or a new server), as most new players would prefer.

Overall the game seems interesting, with a pretty big learning curve. Some things I don't like though, but it's cool.

Not sure what's so hard to understand. The point is simply whether or not auto-block will attempt to block a players feint or not. That is all.

Well there is one more point, and that is why auto-block would be in the game at all. This isn't an attack on the game, as I am wiling to put up with the things I don't like because of the good that I do, but rather that such things shouldn't be in a PvP focused game. And people would disagree with this statement? I'm amazed.

"In regards to PvP:

Is it true that auto-block only blocks attacks other than feints? If so, how is one supposed to make use of a feint skill against an opponents block if the enemy's auto-block knows it's coming and chooses not to activate? And why would they add auto-block if it removes the use of feint, and even player skill? Is this game not at least somewhat PvP focused? Am I missing something?"

WTF... why is that in the game? Auto-block is found in the advanced options.

Non-issue, that poster is not familiar with the combat system.  All auto block does is put up a block when a character is not moving or executing an attack.  There is NO type of block that works against a feint.

In fact, auto-blocking makes anticipating feints more difficult as you cannot de-activate with a simple click - you MUST move or use a skill.

So before you get all bent out of shape, please play the game a little more and improve your combat abilities.

If your feints are so obvious, everyone will let down their guard - it's all about mixing things up so you don't fall into a pattern.

Yes, there are issues with lag.  Sometimes you can correctly predict a movement but be unable to do anything since your lag is 200ms+ - that's an issue that isn't related to auto block though.

1) I never said that auto-block works while moving, though manual block doesn't allow for that much movement to begin with.

2) I never said there are types of blocks that work against feints. The quote is about how auto-blocks knows what is worth attempting to block, and what is not. Thereby making the use of a feint against someone blocking impossible. That is the point of the quote.

3) I guess a person could use a feint against someone standing still with auto-block, but it's just strange that someone using auto-block will never be blocking as you use it.

4) I'm not sure why you're talking about paterns, when the point is the use of a feint against a block, when the person is using auto-block. I'm not asking wether or not it is even effective. But why they would take this away from the game.

5) You say "Yes, there are issues with lag". Who are you talking to exactly? What assumptions have you made that I or the quote doesn't list? I think you are getting a little carried away.

Overall I don't think it's enough for me to not to end up playign the game, but it's clearly something that shouldn't exist in a PvP focused game.

Also posted there:

Castrated males?

And someone posted the following below:

There is no reason for the spammers to exist without being punished by the player base. They should allow the players to police themselves, and take care of the annoying players in their own way. It seems like everytime players are protected in some way, it turns to be worst than if they weren't.

Why exactly can't they focus on both?

WoW and Rift both have a big following for PvE and PvP.  That's why I play them both.

I feel as if it's always bad players who QQ about pve dungeons vs pvp/RvRvR content. Bad players who know they wont be able to compete, so they just dont want it in the game, to prevent their fragile ego from being shattered because players dont react like npc's.

Nail... on... head. That's exactly it. I mean if they're roleplaying as the most powerful warrior the world has ever seen, then get totally wasted by another player as if their character was a house maid, they're not going to be too thrilled about it. What I think they should do is just credit the person who beat them, and ask for some tips. But I suppose if they give that player any credit, they're not roleplaying the best warrior the world has ever seen.

Can someone explain one other thing to me? Someone said on a PvP video on Youtube that: "A sign will appear above the opponent's head in PvP showing what move they will do next, or what skill they are in the middle of casting." How come I never seen this sign in any PvP videos? What is he talking about?

Here is the video where it is mentioned in the comment section: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AL6u9_GI-xI

Here is a cool PvP video, but I don't see what that guy was talking about: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HwfeWHI7EtU

Edit: Did he mean just under the health bar? But that really doesn't seem to be each move his opponent is doing. Anyway, why are there no videos explaining combat in detail?

Well I would love to play an MMO with combat like this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WG0YM35goSE

Opps, I meant I judged from what Alamareth explained in regards to combat, not Aerowyn. I'm confusing you two guys.

I'm extremely good at FPSers, and I don't really see it as a guessing game. So I suppose we will have to disagree on that.

As for your interest in the game, that is fine. Everyone has different taste. I'm only saying from my perspective, it isn't something that I thought it was going to be. I tried the combat a little, and wasn't impressed by it.

I suppose it would be cool to have something like Mount and Blade combat in a MMO.

combat is interesting but really doesn't start ot shine till you get more movement and more skills.. like any mmo though if you judged the entire system by the very start most would suck..  for example some people hail Tera as the best MMO combat but for me it didn't really get decent until the 30s when you got enough glyphs unlocked to speed things up a good bit as before that it just felt slow and boring to me. This games combat definitely takes some getting used to compared to other games i'll give them that

I judge it based on how it works (from what you've explained, what I've seen in game, read, and from videos), and whether that is something that I would like. And it really isn't. For me what makes or breaks a game like this is the combat, and it just isn't what I would want to play.

Again though, that doesn't mean it isn't something you like. And I'm not attacking your game, rather simply saying it isn't of interest to myself. And that it wasn't what I was expecting when I was downloading it.
