And the only reason I'm playing WoW on a PvE server instead of a PvP server (gosh I miss Lineage II...)

Whats the deal?

It's about to be released early may (1st in US, 3rd in EU). The CBT is going this week in the US and next week for EU (and every 2 weeks after that for both regions).

I don't know about the US, but in the EU you can buy the 'mini' pre-order where you get the pre-order goodies, access to all CBT's as well as early acsess. After that you have to buy a key at release with a €5 discont if done from the website (I'll get a SE box for sure).

confusing and meaningless hehe.

I tried it a few times and it was just too complicated (not in a good way) for me to enjoy.

the hack n slash system is what this game has going for it

It takes time to learn it all, which imo is a good thing, so the confusing part is only for people who havent tried this kind of system before.

Meaningless it is most definatly not, crafting mixed with the enchantment system and you can make extremely powerful gear.

The crafting system actually seems very solid to me, thank god its not like traditional western crafting systems.

I gave crafting a short try as well, and think it's kinda weird... Making items you need to have 50 points in the craft itself, but to get there you have to harvest a lot of materials and craft 50 (somewhat) useless materials as well (costing around 2500 gold total to get it there, which is around 10-20% of what you have at level 11). When you finally can make a level 10 weapon, you find that it's less powerful than the one you already got from the quest you did. Then, the level 15 and 20 weapons can also be made with the 50 skillpoints you have. This did kinda freak me out - why you can make a pretty underpowered level 10 weapon with the same skillpoints as the level 15 and 20 weapons..? Not to mention, the 'key material' to craft the weapon is a somewhat rare drop (I had only 3 and I know from other players to have none at all).

At this point I thought to forfeit on the whole crafting thing for now and will wait till TERA is release to give it a serious go.

Loke, keep in mind that Frogster is still testing their infrastructure and are most likely still messing with the server settings. I too had some weird lagspikes at times where the game fully stalled and FPS dropped to 4 or so for a few seconds. My guess is that Frogster is fine-tuning their servers, but the lag isn't as bad as it was during the stress test earlier this week.

Also worth to note that on my system (AMD X3 ~2.7Ghz 8Gb 800Mhz EVGA GTX460 SC) runs rather smooth in maxed settings. I have a stable 30-45 FPS and in Velika it drops to around 20. Only thing that bothers me is that TERA (like Lineage II) does some bad HDD loading for textures. I guess buying a SSD is no luxery...

Lobo, we enjoy the combat but I believe the majority won't be able to cope.

Think back to the MMOs with archaic combat (SWoWTOR, WoW, RIFT). How many do not get the concept of: move. out. of. the. fricking. fire?

And now they have to look at what's happening on screen, think fast, react?

That makes two hurdles a potential player has to get over. First is the art direction. Second is the combat.

Run & doge combat (priest not the #1 DD class...)

Running but not dodging combat (why didn't the freaking pet get the aggro as it should)

Yeah I like TERA a lot, pre-ordered it and probably will play it for the coming years as well ;)

The world I have explored is quite expansive and atmospheric. True, the game dows have a bread crum quest arc. But I definitly  feel the world is rungs above anything i'v played before.

Exactly, once I got to Velika, it truely felt huge, open and massive.

I went off exploring over the mountains to the desert, it's just so open and huge. Really has a nice atmosphere.

Quite right. I did the quests in Velika, got myself the pony and went to the next location that I was designated to quest. Instead of starting quests there, I opted to explore a bit. Damn, the world is BIG BIG BIG. And not big as in large and empty, but large and filled. I visited around 3 area's (well, went through them) in 1 hour (on the pony) and liked what I saw there.

Getting people in groups (what most did on Velika (EU) yesterday is faster then waiting in line.

Funny as hell to see though.

I`ve fought Vekas three times and have gotten him on the first spawn each time.

I walked up, applied everyone i could to party, he spawned, we killed, simple as that. Wish more people thought like that. :P

The line on CH #13 I spoke of (also on Velika EU BTW) had a lot of solo players and few groups. When I was in line and it was about my turn, I just took 2 players near me in party so we'd kill it faster and speed up the line ;)

Couldn't agree more with OP... Also wrote something similar on my blog a while back (http://www.pagesfromsages.com/?action=showentry&entry=991).

Personally I loved Lineage II and Vanguard, but both have 2 bad things atm.
- Lineage II: new players can do now within 1 month what took me over 3 years to accomplish: level 85 and awakening. Not to mention, L2 is now so much different than it was before GoD, that I left :(
- Vanguard: hosted by SOE (nuf said), and player base is too small to actually pay for it.

About TERA and hitting cap in 2 weeks... Yes that was at release and I heard that the grind has been added later on. Right now I've played it for about 5 hours (leveling, not counting exploration time), and I'm level 11. I'm not sure how things go from here, but with the same playstyle in most other MMOs, I'd be a lot higher already.

Your point about Aion is valid, but it's too PvP centered for my taste. Don't get me wrong, I do like PvP, but not as it's done in Aion (I like old-school L2 PvP more...)

...

My wife just droped laughing at this Pic, realy so hillarious to wait in a line for Veken.

HAHAHAHA. Yes, this actually is happening for Vekas. This or half a dozen players trying to kill it and all failing in the attempt to do so.

I tried it yesterday on the EU servers. In Channel #1 everyone was unorganized and no one managed to get a 51% hit-count on Vekas, so they kept KSing each other without any result (quite frustrating BTW). When I changed channels I ended up in #13 (how ironic :D) where they actually made a line like in Fony's picture and there I managed to kill him on 1st try.

About your 1-shotting him... That's a NO GO for sure. I think with your best shot you'll manage to lower him by a maximum of 25% HP. And as said above, you won't manage to get 51% by yourself, so the line is an actual MUST ;)

Played the STRESS TEST yesterday on the EU servers GMs were on purpose oading the servers to the max and indeed, latency (server lag in this case) made combad kinda impossible.

I also have to note that I (EU citizen) wanted to play TERA on the US servers, but after the tests this week, I'm 100% sure to stick to the EU servers because of the latency I'll have with the US...

An other 2 hours to spend 'playing' TERA ;)

"I know that everyone has a ton of questions around our beta schedule and in particular our decision for not wiping after open beta. Let me assure you we have put a great deal of thought behind this entire plan. Our goal is to make TERA the best possible experience. We took a step back from other MMO launches and identified things that went wrong and how we could do it better. Below is a list of items we believe our plan improves on.

The feeling of playing a character you know will be wiped -- it sucks."

Not sure it's a good thing. IMO only F2P MMO's leave the characters 'alive' after the OB passes and the game is released. Not to mention, even during OB some bugs can be found and a lot of publishers DO NOT use the latest release of the client/server software, so bugs/exploits can still be there in OB and used by players...

Aside from that, Frogster will wipe the servers ater OB...

As expected when the game went F2P late last year. Sad to see yet an other indy MMO bite the dust...

NC sold items to people and then changed what the items do after the fact.

Dont know what u talking about, but if is about they stop the RMT from cash shop was a good change.

QQ more please... The description of the items CLEARLY STATED "can not be traded, sold or destroyed". It was a bug waiting to be fixed. That you (and a lot of other players) were STUPID ENOUGH to buy 100's of soulshot packs and are not stuck with them on a lvl1 sell box (prolly bot since you get kicked automaticlaly after 2 hours) is not NC's proble, but yours since you CLEARLY EXPLOTED a bug to be fixed.

L2 f2p was a great thing, the world in Aden is alive with lot of ppl. They are having some issues, but im sure things will be fix meanwhile.

I get mad too when i get home and cant logg because server is full, just go do something else and back later...

Hope things get better meanwhile. If theres was other game so good as L2 i change, but there isnt :(

I do have to agree with OP though... botting is a bigger problem now than ever. With no logon queue, bots logon easily during peakhours and won't get kicked (after 2 hours of idle) when the server is on max load, while we (legit players) can't logon easily during peak hours. Last weekend's TW & castle siege are yet again a good example. Members form my clan got a DC and were not able to logon anymore during the whole event.

Aside from that, I am glad L2 is saved from a certain death because of low subscriptions and till I find something better (TERA or C9 most likely) I'll keep playing L2.

Im confuse Reizla, ur answer in red is directed to OP or for me?

my english is not very good, so i might missunderstand this :)

ROFL, I replied already on this thread... Oh well, same again all over again in my latest reply :D

And the red part was not to you but to OP who was QQing about his exploit of the cash shop items ;)

Dunno what ppl ever complained about shoulshot lag... I only experienced it once after L2 went F2P.

NC either cant fix this or they wont. I dont know.

NOT TRUE!

Read the original description of these items. All items in the cash shop had the standard 'CAN NOT BE SOLD OR DESTROYED, CAN BE TRANSFERRED WITH DIMENSIONAL MERCHANT" in their description. This was obviously a BUG and a lot of players exploited it by using it for RMT. I'm glad it's finally fixed and can't care less about those lvl 1 afk-shops that are stuck with 100s of soulshot packs (and other cash shop items) that they can't use.

MMORG ..this is a good story.  Investigate it.

Aside from the whole botting thing, things are not worse. You're just mad you can't exploit cash shop anymore for RMT and I don't think MMORPG.com will do anything with this bogux post of yours.

See above... EXPLOITING BUGS IS FOR YOUR OWN RISK and I'm more than happy that NC actually TOOK ACTION here!

Like said above, only the botting part is worse now than ever before, and after 6 years of playing Lineage II as subscribing player, I have left the game 1 month after it went Free2Play. IMO NCSoft should have kept a few servers as 'subscription only' and let the bots rule the F2P servers...

Kinda what I predicted when Earthrise went F2P. Sad to see yet an other indy MMo bite the dust :(

Im happy for you NCSoft, now how about spend some part of this "revenue" in "bot fight" ?

Thanks in advance...

Good thing, in a few months we have TERA. I've already quited Lineage II because of the ENORMOUS amount of bots in-game and playing WoW for the moment (when TERA servers are not up). Hell, even WoW gives a better gaming experience now than Lineage II since it went Free4Bots ...uhm... Free2Play

"The concurrent player base as increased more than 800%"

PLAYERBASE..? What are they talking about? Lineage II is back to it's dark ages of 2008 again. Everywhere you look you see BOTS BOTS BOTS. I bet less than 10% of the PLAYERBASE is legit :'(

was in just past 6pm and played for 90 minutes. I enjoyed every minutes and had that old *OMG look at this and that*-feeling I missed in most (new) MMO's.

One to buy for me for sure!

The sneak peek event planned for this weekend unfortunately has had to be cancelled. As we currently cannot foresee when we will be able to guarantee a smooth running of the event, there is no new date as of yet. We're working closely with the TERA developers at Bluehole to fix the remaining issues.

The cancellation was not due to load problems caused by the large number of potential players. Player numbers would have given us a look into possible issues within the scope of a stress test. Due to unforeseen reasons, problems arose already during the entry into the game world.

As soon as we have new information regarding a rescheduled event planning and once all technical issues have been resolved we will inform you on our website, in the forum and via the usual social media channels.

We apologize for the cancellation of the event and assure you that we are doing our utmost to provide all players access to TERA as soon as possible. We thank all TERA fans for their patience and understanding and hope to have positive news for you very soon.

From FB

Sad that it's not gonna happen. Lets hope next weekend they've fixed their issues.
