Just before release they ninjad the monthly fee back to $15. This is a prime example of how this company works. Also, with the amount of bugs and lack of support from the developers, this game in no way is deserving of a premium $15 fee.

I love how you can write something like this about a game that isnt even a month old yet. Since your crystal ball says this game is a failure can you tell us at which patch its going to fail at? Or how about the date that Adventurine is going to shut down the servers? No MMO within its first 30 days is bug free and i mean NO MMO. So for you to say its failure while not giving it 6 months to iron out the major problems shows how naive you are in the development of online games.

First off, it's Aventurine, I can already tell you have little to no experience with this company. Second, I never said this game is ruined because it has bugs, every game has bugs, even games that have been out for over 8 years.

Now where's my crystal ball? Well, it's right here along with the amount of years I've put into dealing with this company. Aventurine failed miserably on Darkfall 1 and that game was twice the game this is. The company is notorious for not delivering on their promises. They did, afterall, let Darkfall 1 die as they will this game.

I think partly because this game reminds people how cowardly they are. They would love to join the fun but the words "full loot" make them run crying to mommy.

It's silly because in reality there's nothing really hardcore about this game. Sure you lose your gear from time to time but it's so easily replaceable it's really a non issue.

On top of that you have the unlucky few who bought the game but can't play it in good conditions (usually because their PC is old and the game crashes every 10 minutes).

Finally there might even be a layer of xenophobia going on here. Aventurine is a Greek/Norwegian company. Some folks in the States might hate it just for that.

The truly hilarious thing about your post is that you equate video game PvP with courage...

This is an example of someone upset they no longer have the scripting advantage. You might not want to ask old DF players about how well they like this game. I can tell you that every DF player I've talked to who were not scripters love DFUW.

I just said all they needed to do was reduce the grind and make the UI a but easier, not start the whole game from scratch and let Tork Shaw create a new console UI. 

 

They were right in removing bunny-hopping and reducing grind, everything else is a mess. 

 

Maybe you're just mad you're paying for a paid beta. Half of the classes are not even complete and the game is missing dungeons even, and you sit there and tell me people love DFUW. 

Yes, I'm sitting here and telling you I love UW.  If UW is a paid beta, and it is currently more fun than other games currently out...I can't wait for the future.

Another old DF player here enjoying UW quite a bit as well. So yeah people obviously love it.

Yeah I can only agree. It's great and getting better and better imo. Can't wait until they get the rest of the schools, markets, bigger boats etc

I feel that I and others will be able to give you a lot more detailed information after beta goes live on Monday. Many of the things you touch upon such as balance and combat have been completely reworked more or less with the introduction of roles and other things.

Edit: Hmm, It's more PvP oriented and less economy driven than EVE I would say. The combat and PVP in DF could get wonderfully intense and were definietly the best combat experience I've had in an MMORPG by leaps and bounds. Sadly on the other hand the economy and crafting bit left a lot to wish for, something I would they look into, but nothing game-breaking.

The videos don't really do this game justice IMO... and it's so different from all other games that you don't really know just how awesome it can be when you get into it. Pity DF1 was completely ruined by the grind, exploiting, balance, etc... Thankfully DF: UW seems to be the game that DF should have been.

Not sure if you are new to MMOs, but many MMOs charge a subscription in addition to a box purchase. In this case, you don't need to make the box purchase, but you need to pay the subscription like every other person out there. Hope that helps!

Not sure if you are new to MMOs but many include 30 days gametime with the game purchase.  Even Darkfall Unholy Wars according to the pre order page does this.

So either the game is NOT free for returning darkfall players as promised

Or returning darkfall players don't get the same offer as new players despite what the website says is included.

Of fucking course we dont get the first month for free since we don't buy the game, usually it is that you buy the game and get the first month for free since you know, YOU FUCKING BOUGHT THE GAME. Now we don't have to buy the game, just pay for the sub(how fucking generous do you expect these guys to be, they are already making a good game instead of all the themepark shit we see today).

Also there was a beta for the original Darkfall.

And yeah you are correct that ForumFall is a very special corner of the internet.. a result of great passion, many letdowns and a very competetive playerbase I would say..

It's pretty much an overhaul and a clean start. No, you don't need to buy the game, it's given for free to all players that owned the first Darkfall.
