If you had a good group of people you could destroy mobs pretty quick and actually have a good time doing it while holding decent conversations and such. Not like the MMO's of today where its quest hub to quest hub and people just absently running by each other without a care in the world. 

I miss valkrum dunes being full of people and ifghting for claims on pulls. Seeing a guy train to zone in Garlaige Shitadel and mobs not despawning, parties running for there lives back to zone as well. Yuhtunga Jungle getting lost while trying to find your way to a party in Yhoater (though I know those jungles by heart pretty much now). 

There is so much FFXI has to offer its just a shame its been lost due to Abyssea and some of these newer expansions.

I played FFXI religiously since ps2 release, left it for too long and couldnt get back in.

nothing has filled the void aside from lotro for about 1/2 a year..

I tried AoC, EVE, WoW, Aion, FFXIV, Rift, SWTOR, WAR.. probably a few more, nothing holds me like ffxi.

My First was FFXI, out of the list.. technically WoW. I only played for about 3 of the 30 free days. So I picked loto.

no to jumping, yes to swimming. I'd like to beable to swim to islands or locations not accessible by modes of game transportation

I hated how long it took you to run anywhere, yet oddly enough I don't think I would change it.. adds a little bit of realism.

agreed, I never really cared for PvP, I wouldn't mind a duel option, but only if you don't loose exp or you could make bets..
