Downloading this now,

I loved Neocron1, it was my first love, havent found anything as fun since and have been spending my hours/years ganking pods in Eve.

Is this game SIMILAR to Neocron?

To an extent I do agree that she is somewhat young to be playing mmo's, but too young to be playing pc/console games in general  I have to disagree. Her time online is policed and the idea for sharing a game with her will only ollow me to police it further, Im only to familiar at what goes on in some of the chat windows and on the forums.

As far as grinding is concerned she sat for a few hours the other night growing bloody cabbages to sell on Runescape which I found hilarious as I dont suppose its a too lucrative/interesting activity to participate in, she seems destined to be an mmo junky like her dad so I think I will look further into LOTRO and Vanguard.....Do these both have player driven markets??

Hi guys

My daughter (10) has been playing a few mmo's (COH / Runescape) she struggles with the higher end of COH but does pretty well on Runescape. Im looking a game we can both enjoy playing and unfortunately in the years Ive been playing I have never regarded the trade route and have always gone for the more agressive charector roles so Im at a loss in choosing a game.

So Im looking for something where she can go out and harvest materials which she can then manufacture into an end product which she can then sell on the games market, Im hoping she will have fun and at the same time learn something from the experience.

Everquest 2 / LOTRO / Guildwars ???  Any suggestions would be most appreciated.

Anyone know where I can find any indication of alternative methods of payment other then CC?

I know there bringing out paypal and wouldnt mind knowing wheniiiiiish

Im pissed off

Neocron 1 was awesome, Neocron 2 was Neocron 1 with more space and a re-jig of factions and mobs.

Last time I played which was well over a year ago the population was dead....sorry guys but you missed it

Click to play came in....Neocron died, used to be an awesome game, was my first love in the MMO world, then came click to play and Neocron 2, the game pretty much died a few months later.

I get the same message with the forums, they mailed me back saying there aware of the problem and trying to fix it.....They were kind enough to include the playtimes in this mail too.

sounds like you should try to get into the Tabula Rasa Beta

Been spamming them but they just dont want me

Im bored and need some views on what your playing so I might try them. I came onto the scene in 2000 and got settled into a few games but the past year Ive been bouncing around and never been able to settle.

Long term games:

Neocron - Loved this but the population dropped and killed it for me, bugs aside its still a great concept of a game.

Planetside - Still play this but its not exactly immersive obviously, more like a log in for an hour periodically game for me.

Eve - Still play this for the community side but its very dull most of the time and its a seriously big time sink of a game.

Games Ive bounced off but never got into:

COH - EQ 1 & 2 - FOM - Guildwars - LOTR  - SWG - RF online -

So what do you consider your fav mmo and why?

1,           Halflife....I dont think ive missed an episode ;)

2,           Team fortress - yeh I know, see above but this one deserves its own rating for what it achieved, and TF2 looks awesome.

3,           I have to mention Neocron 1, if you never played it or only played it for a few days you will disagree but this game was awesome and still is very unique.

This game was awesome and originally used to be payed via paypal, it was click to pay what killed it for a lot of people and dwindled the population.

When Neocron 1 was live the game was vibrant with a large population and was some of the best mmo fun Ive ever had and is still one of the most original mmo's Ive played.

I feel there decision to go back to paypal is good one but its too late to save what I consider the best mmo I've played.

nvm.....

Basically what everybody else said but I do have an option for you to explore if you truly cannot afford to play MMO's

A lot of EVE online players will sell you game time card codes for ingame currency (130isk/30 day code is about right and 130 isk dosnt take too long to get depending on your skill) and CCP fully condone it (why wouldnt they) A lot of people fund alts this way quite easily so it is possible you can play EVE for free and possibly other games that have GTC's as a method of paying.

well, not to ruin your great idea. but you probably need quit a high level char to get 130isk in a pretty short time. So you will first need to buy the game, pay for it for some months, and then maybe after a time you will be able to get some game cards.

Not my idea, it happens everyday, look at the eve-o forums

You can join a 0.0 corp and have the skills to fly an indy which can haul for a mining team (badger2 in about 2 weeks)....A Battlecruiser can rat in 0.0 if carefull (Ferox passive tank ftw) and an Osprey (mining cruiser) with T2 lasers can mine as well as the retreiver (mining barge) and should be doable in no time.

Im know anyone of these setups are reachable during the 30 days free playtime you get from buying the game. Once you hit coveter then exhumers I know people mine 150k + per session (4 hours mining = 30 days free play) Plus your corperation will usually supply all the equipment to do this.

Do your own research.

And you called it Final Fantasy Online, you can't even find the title without help?

Im trying to find a polite way to say it....ahh nvm, you sir are a moron.

To the OP, I waouldnt say COV is a keeper, I played COH and it is fun for a few weeks then it becomes repetative. Theres a few different mission areas (dungeons if you like) and they start repeating, the skills will keep you amused for a while though. If you want depth in both tradeskills and pvp maybe jump on the EVE bandwagon (give the trial a shot). I tryed it for a year but eventually I couldnt put the time and effort in and time is something you need to play this game.

A friend of mine warned me off FF so I havent tryed it yet.....Happy hunting

Neocron was the best and nothing has come close to it. I left a few weeks into NC2 (pluto Fallen angels ftw).

They should make a different game based on NC and release it imo. Im suprissed no one hasnt yet.

May seem like a strange response but give Neocron 2 a try.

I stopped playing this game a while ago after playing since early Neocron 1 because of low population and ingame bugs, but it is still the funnest mmo Ive played to date and Ive played PS COH EVE SWG GW EQ2 AA & FOM.

The grind isnt major and theres plenty to keep you occupied (farming rare parts for uber weapons, PVP, leveling, trade skills) If you can handle a few bugs, low population then I think you will find your fun here until we get some new goodies to try (Huxley, Tubular rasa, Fury)

Neocron plus points are, fps style play, plenty of goodies to aim for, goodies randomly drop if you get pwned which supplies the adrenalin, when I was there the community was good, vehicals and aircraft

Neocron bad points are, crappy pay system (for some), low pop (estimate about 300 peak but peeps do congregate in certain areas) GFX not nearly as good as newer games, some ingame bugs (not sure if these are fixed now though), Trial requires credit card.

I'll get flamed for this, this game has a bad rep, but I truely believe if this game was in the hands of a better company then it would have been one of the great ones.

I just left EVE after a year of play and although I did enjoy it, the time sinks in that game makes for a lot of wasted time (anyone for a gate or pos camp for 5 hours to get 2 maybe 3 kills?) Oh yeh and when waring in major fleets (100 v 100 +) and crashing the full system node, to log back in slower then the enemy and loose your 250 mil HAC isnt fun either

Yeh Yeh your all sick of these threads but I have done as much research as possible before making this.

If anyone has played Neocron then that is exactly the type game Im looking for. I left shortly after NC2 came out and the low pop and new mechanics made me leave. I have just endured EVE for a year which was quite cool but server issues, time sinks and the seriousness of the community also made me leave (though I gave it a good try). Right now Im 2 days into Guild wars which is a nice game but I cant see it keeping me longer then a couple of months, the cap is lvl 20 and Im already at lvl 9 after 2 nights.

So for those who dont know Neocron, I'm idealy looking for a fps style mmo with depth and a trade skilling element (unlike PS which I still play), you would probably say FOM is the obvious choice, well Ive been following FOM since I played it in beta and tbh I dont think the game has taken off quite as well as i thought it would have (maybe Im wrong here feel free to correct me). I need game with excitement where I may be attacked and loose something if I wander into enemy territory or a highly dangerous but highly lucrative area, you know those MMO moments where your heart starts racing as you engage in pvp where the consequences are loosing that favorite weapon you have spent 2 weeks trying to get (if you get my point).

Im currently watching Huxley and Tabular Rasa but even then I think they will lack depth, I will always have a home on my desktop for Planetside but I rarely play more then an hour a week (it helped me immensly after hours of camping gates and pos in EVE)

Games Ive tred so far---NC, NC2, SWG, PS, FOM, COH, EQ2, GW, AA (yuck)

Okay to start off with the fraps was very entertaining but disrespectful irl to the person who lost there life and this imo is wrong, theres a boundry between real life and in game life, imo that has been crossed here with the wording on this fraps.

But.....

To hold such a ceremony is an invatation to be attacked, those who plan such an event should not be so naive to not think so and should have really planned for such an assault.....There in-game, 'simple as that' people pay there money to play the role they want to play and if its a griefer, terrorist, ganker ect then so be it and tbh thats one of the reasons I play the type of mmo's I play. I usually choose not to play such roles, but prefer to play games with this element.

The guys involved in this assault probably didnt know this person on a personal level and probably just saw an opportunity to have a little fun, the asshat who added the text to the fraps is the one who needs to be slated for making and pulicising this, there the ones who have overstepped the mark. Appart from that I see nothing wrong with the actual in-game act which from what I can gather from the fraps went down perfectly to plan.

These are the views of someone who has never played this game (nore would I want to)

I really cant get settled and Im not having fun atm, I need some player guidance on what to try next.

Game history:

Neocron 1 & 2 (2+yrs) - Loved it and only left because of low pop (coped with the bugs).

Planetside (2yrs) - Again right up my street but the obvious lack of depth makes this an on and off game for me, and now I believe its dieing due to stupid dev changes.

SWG (trial) - Didnt play long enough but didnt like the combat system so much.

COH (months) - Again content issue, missions so repetative and caves all the same.

EQ2 (trial) - Didnt play long enough but the game felt a bit carebearish for me (lack of pvp).

Autoassault (hours) - Im sure I dont need to comment here.

Face of mankind (Beta) - Huge potential but Im not liking what Im reading now its released, its being refered to as a fancy chat room but Im keeping a close eye on it.

EVE (currently playing) - Getting quite frustraited with egotistic people in places of leadership and Im ashamed to say this but Im paying for a game Im not having a whole load of fun on, the whole pvp side of things has little to do with skill unless your in a tactical gang and if the gang is say 80 v 80 (fleet battle) the lag sucks the fun straight out of it. I do enjoy this game in a way but It lacks the fast paced fun I enjoy the most.

Im looking forward to Tabular Rasa and Huxley

I dont mind grinding for cash/xp, there has to be a pvp element, there has to be risk(i.e. the chance of getting ganked), Im preferably looking for a 1st/3rd person style game. I dont mind the setting (i.e. fantasy, futuristic ect.) and Im not fussy about graphics. There must be a half decent pop with clans/guilds to join and im looking for something with more then just pvp (i.e. game must have trading, crafting ect.)

(btw I hate all this consentual pvping like in EQ2, Im not a ganker but I feed off the tense feeling I could be attacked)

I know Im asking a lot here but there must be something out there Im missing.......HELP MEH
