what's not so funny, is that some people actually falls for phishing like this.

I play sith assassin and when I was lvl 34 I did a class quest which said I needed to be 35, the quest was about luring a jedi padawan into a trap by borrowing another lords assassins and then jump in last second and be the hero, only to gain access to the jedi enclave.

But those 3 borrowed assassins were 3 strong / silver mobs, and lvl 35, even with the jedi helping me, and my companion, I died 3 times before I finally took the last one down.

Make no mistake, this game can and will be challenging.

And if you for some reason like to torture yourself by doing the impossible, try playing solo with no companion, I guarentee you gonna have a hard time.

I love how people get all upset because some other person doesn't like the game they play..seriously grow up!

Well it just gets old Im sure alot of people don't really care who likes the game or not its more of the point of coming to the SWTOR section everyday telling everyone it just gets annoying.

Imagine if you liked bowling and I showed up to the bowling alley EVERYDAY with 5-6 buddies and we shouted bowling sucks and LOL bowling constantly while you are just trying to enjoy your bowling. Sure you could ignore it for a bit but after awhile most people are gonna get annoyed as hell.

That right there is pure gold my friend, you made me laugh.

Wow... might read this if you used a paragraph or 2.

Edit:

Couldn't agree more, don't know who they are trying to convince that they are right, probably themselves.

It still annoys me though, that they say stuff that are simply not true, and by that possibly get some of the people who would have njoyed this game to turn away from it.

It is a good game, and it deserves to tried by everyone.

I too was getting bored of the same old same old, but the cutscenes and VO simply adds a whole new world to me, I have never read a quest text, I couldn't get myself to stop what I was doing to read a block of text and thereby getting immersed, earlier, lvl'ing was just a minor speed bump for me, I wanted end game NOW!

This has changed, I can't get myself to skip the cutscenes, I like to watch and listen to them, and I like to think about my answers, a whole new experience for me.

Seriously, to those who are on the fence, try it!

As per usual we the EU get shafted once again, if its not release dates & centralised EU depts

for customers services, it maintenance at peak times to suit the americans gaming times, which

i think is an insult to a large part of their & every other games playerbase.

Servers went down at 10:00am & will stay down until 4:00pm WTF!? 6hrs.

6hrs!? what the hell are they doing for 6 bloody hours?

So far this game has consisted of 1-3hr ques allday everyday (unless you get on at 8:00pm)

now most of my precious gaming time is to be taken away only to have the game be handed

back later with a que of about 1-3hrs again...

Very dissapointing tbh

/rant over

so people in the eu arent at work from 10 am to 4 pm on a tuesday?

Nope.

Anyway you miss the point. Maintenance should be planned for when the absolute lowest demand is. Just like it is in the US. Just like any other corperation that wants to provide the highest possible availability to as many customers as possible.

Stop bein ridiculous, its a tuesday morning/afternoon. Way to show craving... *rolleyes*

M

Having a service down when a good majority of paying customers want to use that service is a good thing (in the EU at least)??

You also can't just walz into a movie theater at 9 am and demand "the service" to be "usable". They even tolerate IT downtime in hospitals and banks. Stop being childish about it, it's a workday afternoon. And looking down on the street proves to me that - at least in Germany - the majority is still hard at work. The bakery at the corner is open, the grocery store across the street too and I've already received my mail...

Now do  me a favor and stop complaining, it really lacks any foundation.

M

Why did you even take the time to type anything in here? Clearly OP is not alone with his opinion, it does cut into prime time which is unacceptable, at least without compensation.

It is a bank holiday, which means that most people are off from work, just because small grocery stores and bakery's decide to have open doesn't mean the majority of EU is at work.

Coming in here and say stuff like "Stop whining" serves no purpose at all except for boosting your own ego, because complaining about this is beneath you right? You are better than all of us?

What a joke.

The complaints are valid, so snap out of it.

A few days isn't a trend.  I know, we're all dying to say "I told you so!" but really need to wait a month at least, to see any real indication of the game popularity increasing, decreasing, or even leveling off.  Three months to be sure it won't turn around, and six months before it'll really be indisputable.

Really people actually wait for that? makes me just sad thinking about the mentality some people have.

Why? The game is a shallow Themepark and there are a lot of us who are tired of lack of innovation in the genre. A failure on SW:TOR would give a signal to the industry that they cannot copy paste game mechanics and need to start thinking outside of the box.

A failure would just make possible future investors look away from the MMO's in general.

Millions of dollars has been poured into this beaut, and if investors don't see their money back, then the future of mmo's will look bad for a long time to come.

On another note.

That you dislike SWTOR, does not make it a bad game, I don't really get why you would spend time researching the doom of TOR when this game clearly is looking to be a success, a lot of people are enjoying it, with a record in pre-orders, and fastest game to 1 mill subs, it's hard to see failure for this game in the near future.

SWTOR is a great game, and everyone who haven't gotten it already, should get it, and try it for themselves, it really is a well designed and FUN game, which is the most important thing in a game for me, at least.

I'm getting too old for quest text that you don't want to read anyway, x 2000. I just want to sit down and be entertained, from when I first enter the game world, which this games delivers beautifully.

Get the game, it's well worth it!

Yeah I really don't understand why this is getting threads and headlines on gaming sites. Nearly every MMO that I have played functions this way. You put in your CC info, they tell you it will not be charged until the 30 days is up and you can cancel at any time, and then you get to play the 30 days.

-snip-

Enter your info and then cancel it right away...or don't play. Simple as that.

enjoy!

Watching it right now, kinda good, might stick arond til the end.

On a more serious note...

You guys forget that it's bank holiday, almost everyone is home, and also, EU is not just CET, some of us will be hit in prime time by this, which is unacceptable, at least without compensation.

So just because it doesn't bother you, doesn't mean it's alright.

World doesn't revolve around you kiddos, learn it now, or suffer when reality hits you in the face. :P

Bat's, bones and sand, okay we get it... funny.

But that's where the similarities stop, I mean, the landscape look nothing alike.

Good ideas.

I have to admit, I've skipped running some instances because there's no LFG tool. But I have had fun doing pickup world bosses and there are some cool people willing to help out.

Still, I have noticed the rule on my server is roll NEED every time.  I guess with a solid friends list, that will be worked out.

Hmm, the few FP's I've done everyone roll greed, if they need for companion they have asked before rolling.

My server is actually quite good, there's always the occasional odd one, or troll, but that's to be expected, overall, good experience.

I agree, it should always be seperate maintenance.

There is several topics on this on the official forum, and I think, by the amount of responses to them that this will get get changed.

No one likes having half a day taken away, and on a bank holiday. Not good!

But as i said, I think they will realise that soon.

Played a lot of games myself, Incl. Rift. And let me say this, TOR is a blast, I'm having so much fun, the lvl'ing is fun too, unlike other games.

And! I'm not even a star wars fan, but still having a lot of fun, I do not regret getting this game one bit, best buy this year, for me.

The game is decent as a free to play type game. But it is not an mmo its more of a single player RPG with some chat thrown in. Who is actually willing (Be honest) to pay $15 dollars  a month for a game not worth one penny???

Wondering how you came up with this unique and interesting thread.........
/Sarcasm off

I would pay 15 bucks a month, and I'm probably not the only one, this game is epic, and is far more fun than any game I've played recently.

Well, usually when I think of questing, I think of a boring grind to end game, which used to make me rush end game.

But in this game I'm having fun already while lvl'ing, that alone makes this game one of the top games.

You don't need a guide for any game if you get right down to it,but some people like to have a guide or two to help them from time to time. There are a ton of great guides out there and theres a cool art book I found at {mod edit- URL removed} that I love looking at. Some people like to collect everything related to a game and for that you can't attack them. I generally don't buy walk thru guides but I like collecting stuff related to a game I am playing, especially if its a Genre I love like Star Wars.

I stopped playing Star Trek Online a long time ago,but I have some collectables from that game that I still enjoy having on the shelf. Sad really, when the collectables outlast the thrill of the game.lol. I am enjoying SWTOR but will I still be enjoying it in a year or six months? hard to say. Remember though, you can't sell a used game on Ebay, but there is always a market on e bay for game related collectables.lol.

Well yeah, that's fine, but these guides aren't collectables from Bioware, it's guides that are trying to make people believe they need "ProPaid" guides written by other gamers, to succeed in PvP, Credit farming, and lvl'ing.

If bioware sold a guide which also had some art in it, it would be fine, some people enjoy that, but I don't like it when people are trying to grab money from fellow gamers by selling them something they could have gotten for free.

There are tons of free, good quality guides and FAQs out there.

Being in game, reading up on your skill tree, trying to understand how it all works and fit together, will help you far more, than copying a build out of a guide.

Just yesterday, the average "user score" on Gamespot was 7.8.  It jumped up to 8.8 as of right now.  It just goes to show that as more and more people try this game, the haters become more and more marginalized.  It really is a well put together game.  What the hate boils down to is the fact that this game is an extremely well made theme park rather than their preferred sandbox.

http://www.gamespot.com/star-wars-the-old-republic/platform/pc

Yep, and as others have said before, the majority of the ones who really like this game, are in it and playing it, that leaves sites like this with the haters, a shame, since they might in some cases scare off people who would otherwise have enjoyed this beaut.

Erm.. doesn't a topic like this defeat exactly what you said? :)

Not really, since there will always be a few of those of us who likes the game, that still likes to check forums.

I didn't say that all who likes the game aren't here, I said the majority of those who likes the game.

Now you're the one getting a lil' hostile there mate.

Never once said subpar builds were the best, it never can be, else it wouldn't be subpar >.<

Slicing is the best credit maker, it'll bring in more than enough, sure there are some super secret ways to make a little on the side, but nothing compared to what slicing alone will give, you don't need a guide to tell you to send all your companions out for lockboxes.

Premium guides = Guides that gives you the info, you would otherwise have gotten for free.

If people are already looking at free FAQs and Guides, they probably won't click the advertisement for "ProPaid Guides", now would they.

Actually in your opening post you said about these guides: "You don't need any guide telling you some subpar build is the best possible build". My point was, you're being ignorant assuming that's what's in every guide, much like you said I was being ignorant. Not being hostile at all actually, just tossing what you said yourself back in your face :)

Your statement about premium guides = info you would have gotten for free is, again, not really true. Going back to the "exclusivety" of more secret means. That ties into your last statement also. I wonder why these people put up ads for premium guides next to all their "free information that includes every single thing in the game". Gosh, those guys sure are idiots eh?

Been fun Beazt. Nighty night.

May the people you have robbed haunt you in your dreams :D

Saying that every build on a community forum, is from little johnny's and the people writing those guides are SWTOR gods, is ignorant.

I think you get a piece of the action on those guides tbh, probably not much, but you work hard trying to convince me, and anyone else reading this thread.

Saying that every guide is garbage, suggests that "subpar builds" are the best builds, and that every one of them only suggests "Get slicing!,Get slicing!,Get slicing!" is equally as ignorant I would say.

Maybe I do get a slice. Maybe I wrote one. Maybe I wrote them all under different pen names in my free time. Thanks for assuming I'm working hard, I know I make it look easy. Really I'm just jossling(?) ya cause you're all bent out of shape and on a crusade against "premium guides".

@Arcona: Not bad. The first one is more of a FAQ. The other two have "pro guide" advertisements! Sick 'em Beazt!
