Murug I think everyone will agree that SE is definitely trying to fix the game. The main issue is, when it was released last year it was pretty over whelmingly terrible, thats not really up for debate, SE has all but admitted that themselves and the fact that they havent charged a sub fee in almost a year backs that up. The real issue is, how far has the game come in a year of basically extended paid beta? The answer is not really far. Yes the market wards have been changed, but the change is very similar to putting a bandaid on a spurting artery. You still have market wards, you still have to physically go to the vendor, and selling your items is still an extremely time consuming pain in the ass. Yes, it is light years better than it was back at launch, but it still is terrible by most gamers standards and either shows SE is to stubborn to truely fix the issue or they are simply incompetent. They wanted originally to force player shops and trades and a community like setting, I get that. The old days of EQ1 with GFay and Commons tunnel were kind of cool. Unfortunately we no longer live in those days. The internet was new, folks hadnt quite experienced true easy convenience and now that we've seen what is possible, we dont want to go backwards, we want to stay where we are or better yet go forwards. If SE wants to make some kind of GFay or Commons type experience then thats fine, but they need to do so in such a way that doesnt strangle crafters and harvestors or makes the average joe trying to empty his bags for profit after a long hunt not spend 3 hours sorting, pricing, setting up a retainer and then switching wards and doing it all over again. Thats not a community, thats not fun, its a frustrating pain in the ass. Lets talk content. At launch there was 0 content. You had 16 leve quests per 36 hours and that was it. There werent even enough concentrated spawns for folks to really grind at with out fighting like a bunch of hoodlums over the two spawns in a cave. As of now, that hasnt really changed. As far as I know as of today the timer on leves is still 36 hours, anima regen is still a bitch, and there are still no real dungeon or group experiences. I understand thats supposed to change next week... but I've heard talk of one instance and one line of quests for 4 different factions. If so, unless that dungeon scales based on level its not going to solve the problem, and even if it does, folks are going to eat that dungeon up like a starving ethiopian and then want more... and be left with just that one dungeon. This is the best SE has done in a year, and while its nice that they are still making progress its so slow and the updates so minor that I dont really see FFXIV being turned around anytime soon. Its a damn shame too cause the game looks great and some of the core ideas arent too bad... just the implementation is a train wreck. |

Heh I think SWG still wins with the pink valentines day ewoks. |

I really liked the idea behind rift, and as a theme park game its great. However, this is pretty much a mockery of a sale. Sure its "technically" on sale, but the savings are so small its not really worth mentioning. |

General: Supreme Court Overturns California Violent Games Law
News Discussion « General Discussion 6/27/11 9:47:43 AM
Its funny everyone in this threads slamming on fox, who granted have their issues, but so does every other media outlet out there. All of them are biased, and all of them spew some kind of bs and last I checked pretty much all of them have had a scandal at some point and time. However facts are facts, supreme court nocked it down. Good game folks =) |

Feel free to check out my new corp Bi.Winning run by 2 players that have been playing eve for years but are starting over from scratch. |

Evening folks. Few friends and I just recently decided to restart in eve. Several of us have / had 20 - 50 million sp characters and are deciding to start back over and experience the game as a fresh beginner. We have created a corp and will be focusing mainly on PvP, Missions, Faction Warfare and once able, incursions / plexes. We offer 3x weekly pvp roams, a teamspeak 3 server, folks who are willing to answer questions and help you get your feet moving in the right direction. If this is something you might be interest in, then feel free to reply here or msg Dark Supremacy in game. You can also chat with us in our public channel B-Win |

Lineage Im sure is a great game, I just have a hard time paying for a game like this when there are very similar alternatives that are free. At least lower the sub from 15 a month. |

actually if korea hates it that might be really good news for us considering the west hates most of their A+ games. |

So will this game pull in the MMO Haters?
General Discussion « Star Wars: The Old Republic 6/12/11 9:45:55 PM
I think the main issue with most of the new mmos is lack of community and lack of player driven content. The further along we go in developing mmo's the closer we all get to a damn near single rail line that reminds me of some of the oldschool rail shooters from back in the 90's. Sure they are pretty, and there are definitely challenges to face and play through, but when I think back at least for me personally most of the games I've stuck with over the years were driven mainly around conflicts and content built around other players. UO, AC1, DAOC, EvE, all of those games were games specifically designed around "persistent" worlds and goals that required other players to assist or at times attempt to stop you while completing. Now a days, its a dungeon thats completed in an hour, as opposed to a dungoen that you fought through over a series of levels and may or may not have ever seen the bottom of. Mostly pvp systems that have the depth of a kiddy pool and revolve around gearscore and item grinds that take place on battlefields neither team really cares about as opposed to games where you build content or fight over things that actually affect you instead of fighting for points. Granted this is from my perspective, and I am not saying I'm the majority. Just saying why over the past few years MMO's have rarely kept my attention for longer than a month. |

Does any westerner have a max(or close to max) level character on an Asian Grindfest F2P MMORPG?
The Pub at MMORPG.COM « General Discussion 6/12/11 9:39:53 PM
I have a team of level 100 toons in sword of the new world, but that game is kind of special as its more or less built in botting. I played it with a few friends over a period of months, but I wouldnt exactly say it was an amazing game. Mainly just a social chat room for me and a few friends. |

I am absolutely fried on pretty much every P2P mmo out there. One of the things I love doing in mmo's is aoeing, DAOC loved the servant nec, and in sword of the new world I had 2 elementalists and enjoyed just aoe destroying. Anyways, looking for another game where aoeing is a functional game play mode and preferablly F2P. Any good options out there folks? |
