from what I was told by the forum mod on the beta forums. The key you activate in the beta to get your pre-order extras also gives you three days access using the beta client (that they will patch to retail)

If for some reason your account doesnt flag there is a link on the beta forums where they will review and activate it for you the day of.

There is nothing else to play ATM and WoW is the newest game out with the biggest advertising budget. WoW has had no real competition since it released.

Now there are three new Mainstream games coming out and I will be suprised if wow doesnt take a extremely large (30 - 40%) population hit by 2008

So come on!  Go play those MMORPGs!  World of Warcraft sucks!  8 million players worldwide?  Oh yeah, this game is horrible.  We all know the MMORPGs with less population are the MMORPGs to play, cause obviously when a MMORPG only has in between 100k to 500k players, it means it's a GREAT GAME TO PLAY!  Don't play a game where 8 million subcribers are playing, cause according to those that don't play WoW or never played WoW, this game sucks!

Oh well, that's all I wanted to say.  I'll go play World of Warcraft now with 8 million players now.   Obviously to some, I'm one of those 8 million players that are playing a "Sucky" MMORPG and I should be playing on a low population less popular MMORPG like Eve Online or Everquest 2 or something.

Gee, have some people ever thought for a second why WoW has 8 million players and other "top rated" MMORPGs on this webpage can't even get more than 200,000 players?

Just because there are alot of people playing WoW doesnt make it the best game right now, just makes it the most popular. I wont go into the fact that blizzards statements leave a lot of room for interpretation either, but one thing to realize. There hasnt been another GOOD Mainstream MMO since 2004. People are bored and people want a new game.

Lets see how many subscribers WoW has this time next year after the Three new games come out (add one more and it could be the apocolypse =) )

looking similar and "clones" are another major issue with big business taking over MMO's. EA and SOE want success they want payout and they want subscribers. If your an investor do you want to invest in a game thats completely revolutionary and may not take? or something similar to the biggest game out there with some features that seperate it enough and add on other games weaknessess?

We are going to get games that are more and more similar as time goes on as the people with the money want to succeed.

Fact is, I've played the beta and I can just about guarantee you that this game will fail despite the constant praise of the very select few fanboi's on these forums.

I made the movie for my guild there were some members who wanted to see before they bought and werent able/willing to get into the beta.

What a let down!

My brother and I are both getting the big version of the game so we will have some trial keys.

With some butt kissing I could probably give out one or two

I have an amd 4200 x2 2 gigs of 6400 ddr2 800 and a geforce 8800 gts 640meg card

With this set up I can run vanguard on max settings and get 20 - 25 fps with clipping out.

Only issue is in certain areas I get some rather heavy frame hits (usually with structures, not casting, or tons of leaves etc) Dropped it to the second highest setting and getting 30 - 35 with 1600 x 1200

Look at my post with the video to see max setting performance.

This is what it looks like more or less on a highend system with graphics maxed. The files a bit big but thats cause I wanted the highest encoding I could get. You will need VLC or FFDshow to view it I believe... but shouldnt be an issue for most men =)

Only thing that was lost in encoding is the grass effects are only good to about 10ft, while in game they are good to clipping.

Nothing special in the clip and its relatively low level, but shows you the detail

long as games require multimilion dollar investments you will have early releases.

I didnt read everything stopped at the first page. Main thing for people to realize is dont bother competing with the kids. Those of us with lives cant. Play the game for the game. Enjoy exploring. If your dying and you have a good group then the area just might be too high for you, or your group setup just might not be optimal.

Also realize that the game is in beta and there are things like loot levels and spawn timers that may be needing adjustment. Report a bug if you feel it needs to be loked at.... thats what beta is for.

to me VG is like a wow EQ2 blend, with way better graphics and a DAOC style combat chain system.

Requirements are a bit high, but... this is a next gen game. You can drop your settings, or you can upgrade. I just built a new system this summer. Cost me around 1200, and was my first upgrade in 3 years. Game looks like this on my system.

Crafting and Diplomacy are awsome.

The world is huge, and gives plenty of options. Unlike wow where its this zone or that zone... you have quite a few. Dont want to do this zone, try this one, dont like this dungeon try this one.

The world is stunning, the spell effects even at low levels are very attractive.

Quests... sure so far they are a bit dull but so are wows, but the environments are nice =)

One of my main loves for wow was that one zone didnt look like another, and there was some very unique zones. But there wasnt alot of interactivity.  Sure there were some absolutely stunning areas (Shimmering flats for one a personal favorite)

VG takes this to another level. Not since Asheron's Call have I walked over a hill and been "stunned"

The trees... The rolling hills... Seeing a town in the distance and walking TO it instead of just having it appear at cliping plane. Actually noticing your in a mountain valley. Noticing floating objects that you know you cant get to now but one day...

CHOPPING A TREE DOWN... extremely cool, and then noticing the guy next to you has chopped down some too.

Swimming accross a river, you actually have to fight the currents.

Hills and valleys, actually having nooks and cranys (like the den of wolves thats underneath the fallen rock. All of these features add something that other games havent had in a while. EMERSION. Actually feeling like your in another world, not just another game.
