It sounds good in theory...however, once you drew your "2 favorite members" all hell would break loose. Now not only would people feel that they just got a bad dice roll, but they would feel hurt and alienated. I would be willing to bet if I polled 100 active members they would all think they contribute the most to the site...at least more than 2 would. Then I would spend my days trying to explain to troves of crying members why they were not picked by my analog processing brain and why I like "member x" more than "member y". Thanks, but no thanks. I have better things to do with my time - like work on this site. - MMORPG.COM Staff - |

It will not be for graphic cards...lol And it will be random as always. That is the way contests work. If we did it any other way we could not police all the chaos that would take place. If the contest was based on posts by users, etc you would have forums completely full with one liner posts and garbage. I saw another site run a FFXI beta contest not too long ago. They made a rule that posting in their forums would up your odds. If you looked in their forums they were getting like 500 posts a day of almost pure garbage...just one liners and junk. I know it sounds good in theory to all of you, but I think if you were looking at it from this perspective you would realize that people just don't have the time to insure that dedicated users win the prizes. Bottom line, it does not matter what you do people will complain...as a site owner you just accept that I guess. - MMORPG.COM Staff - |

Actually, our site traffic did not change a whole lot...except at first. The first 5 days of the contest we saw crazy traffic. But the last 2 weeks has been pretty normal - about 6000 unique visitors a day. I think member signups will drop a little though...but we should still see 50+ per day. Gratz to all the winners! - MMORPG.COM Staff - |

Was a bug, and it was just squashed :) It was only a display bug though...people with tickets could still have claimed the last 5 tickets. - MMORPG.COM Staff - |

Oh no, if for some odd reason 15 people did not confirm by midnight tomorrow, we will take the remaining slots and re-fill them - disqualifying those who didn't confirm in the first batch. I don't see this happening...but you never know - MMORPG.COM Staff - |

Ya, the power outages were a nightmare. Being hours before the contest drawing could not have been worse timing. I hope those power company guys feel really bad - MMORPG.COM Staff - |

Well, being the drawing is RANDOM I don't see how the amount of posts a user makes would factor into things much Unlike other sites, I don't increase users odds by their activity. All this creates is a wave of spammers that ruin the site. Sorry to all those who did not win...better luck next time - MMORPG.COM Staff - |

Yes. For example if after 24 hour there are 5 unconfirmed spots we will draw 20 more names - the next 5 to confirm will win. I would not expect this though. I think the double power outages messed things up a bit. In the next 6-12 hours you should see all 15 spots confirmed. We are going to try and hold another contest. No promises - the decision would be that of Atari, not us :) - MMORPG.COM Staff - |

Well, it appears our 1.5 hours of electricity were but just a teaser. At 12:15AM EST we lost power once again at our NY hosting center. 3:16AM EST and we are online again. I aplogize for the massive outages today - hopefully this will be the last of them. - MMORPG.COM Staff - |

Use the BBML editor. The Enhanced Editor uses DHTML and ActiveX. Most firewall programs see ActiveX controls as a threat (and they can be if they are malicious). You might be able to adjust your settings in Norton as well to allow ActiveX or perhaps specifically to allow it for the mmorpg.com domain only. - MMORPG.COM Staff - |

Hello all, We apologize for the fact that MMORPG.COM has been offline for the past 6 hours. This is because our servers are located in Manhattan, NYC. As many of you know, there was a massive power grid failure in the Northeast US and Canada regions today that put 12,000,000 or so people out of electricity...we were one of these :) It seems that everything is working smooth right now. At this time, the Horizons beta drawing will continue as planned. Good luck to you all! A big thanks to the people involved in restoring the power...

I apologize, these rules come from Atari - not us. They do not want anyone but North Americans in the beta. If we could let anyone sign up we would. I apologize again for not placing a note informing non-US/Can people about this. Next time I will post that sooner. But, it's not like we took money from you or something - MMORPG.COM Staff - |

We will basically feed whatever ads we want in into the guild page headers. Obviously if we have an advertiser that wants to target SWG fans, we will offer them "targeted" ads in the guild sites for that game. But this will not be a choice the free site will get...they will have to upgrade if they want to control their own ads - MMORPG.COM Staff - |

We will be doing this eventually...it will be for running guild sites. It will come in 2 versions: - Free version: Ads will appear at the top of your site...but NO pop-ups. You will get a single forum that can handle 50 posts per day. You will get an event calendar that can have 10 events posted per month. You will get a screenshot gallery that has a 2MB limit. Your member roster can have up to 50 people in it. - Pay version ($35 year): No ads. You will also have the option of running your own ads. Up to 5 forum sections allowing 500 posts per day. Event calendar with no limits. Screenshot gallery up to 15MB. Unlimited member roster. Pay version will also include a private chat room and other cool features not found in the free version. Of course none of this is set in stone. We are also hoping to allow a way for up to 4 people to "chip in" to pay the bill. This will make the burden easier to bear for the people of the guild. Providing a service like this will cost us time and money - so it is only understandable that we will need to charge for a higher level of service (hopefully we can make enough on advertising to cover the free version). - MMORPG.COM Staff - |
