Wow. So I got EQ last night and its a hell of a game. I played EQ1 for a few years on Prexus but the game pretty much got destroyed with all the expansions where if youre not in a super uber guild you're nothing. Plus the regen took ridiculously long, much like everything else, and all the armor worth a hoot was raided for. Then i moved on to WoW and FFXI and a bunch of trials and sure WoW was really great but it gets dull. Now I'm back to my roots and all i have to say is im no where near disappointed with EQ2. I play on Nagafen and am an Iksar Bruiser so ahhh yeah, if anyone wants to chill in-game just send me a tell. The name's Helegda.

Wait till you spent few months ingame. The world is ridiculously small, there are invisible walls everywhere and above level 45 you need a group for everything thats supposed to be fun, crafting has been ruined, housing is a joke, RP is mostly non-existant and there find yourself at level 47, trapped in an ultrasmall world where you need to run raids and dungeons to accomplish anything...
...really, I need to emphasize it one more time, the gameworld is tiny, there are only 8 outdoor zones, the last two are even smaller than the lowbie zones and crammed to the rim with mobs of all kinds. no travelling, no exploring, no hanging out in the wilderness, somethings ALWAYs there to beat you up... Fun until you realize you live in a cage... Meridion EDIT: Oh yea and no, im no WoW fanboy, i quit WoW last year and ive been through DaoC, WoW, EvE, SWG, Tib, DnL and EQ2 |

EOF should change all that though, looks like it's a MASSIVE expansion.

I agree with you. It's a great game. I'd call it the best out there. I've been playing it for years. My website is closed temporarily. Hopefully it will only be a short delay. |

yeah, im enjoying everything about the game so far, lotsa fun. hopefully lillian doesnt see this post moirae, u know hell/shell want us to explain exactly y we enjoy this game, then downplay every reason u give, lol. oO well, some ppl just arent happy unless their treating others like theyre stupid. edit: about 2 pages into this thread, lomiller will start ranting and raving on and on about zones and such. if u dont really want to read about stupid crap that doesnt matter at all, or u r familiar with the rantings of lomiller(and i know some of u r), feel free to just stop reading here. it gets really stupid later on. sry for that, but it does, i feel dumb for even letting that troll get me into it. ______________________________ |

Yeah, I wouldn't doubt. You know, I know I can be downright nasty but even I don't pull that kind of thing.

i try to b nice, but everything i said to lillian he/she had to turn around like i was saying something else. i dont like to get sarcastic or nasty in a forum, but it sure seemed like thats what he/she wanted.
btw, lillian, when u read this, take into consideration that we knew that u troll....erhmmmm.....read the forums and prolly would find it. so its not that we r talking about u behind ur back, were talking infront of ur back. and we also know and expect ur quirky remarks when u see this. ______________________________ |

Antonica
Thundering Steppes Nektulos Commonlands Ferrott Enchanted Lands Lavastorm Everfrost I can add numbers if it helps *g* Oh yeah, thats without the expansions of course... You can add Desert of Flames 1 REAL outdoor zone and some weird floating half-done zones for Kingdom of Sky. And thats it... dyou want me to list the zones in WoW, each the size of about antonica? I can tell you, the counter there stops at 42, or the number of real square kilometers on only one (of nine) planets (about 120 sq kilometers). Or the time you need to cross the map in EvE, which takes about 3-4 hours depending on route and ship, hell, even GW takes longer to explore fully, and not because the exteriors are instanced... ...I wouldnt even rely on this fact so heavily if there was anything to do in the world except slaying one monster per square meter. You just cant be anywhere without getting attacked all the friggin time. Thats not what I expect of an immersive world, when i go hiking in the woods, do I have to bash critters the whole day if I dont wanna be all torn apart? No, and no, I dont want a hiking sim, I just want a world where I can believe it is actually a world and not a strange mix of theme park sandboxes for a bunch of mage-kids to play in. And as i stated already, I liked this game a lot and it was one of the most brutal letdowns when I finally realized that there was "nothing more to do"... Meridion EDIT: As a matter of fact, you got me there... I DID forget Zek - the Orcish Wastes O.o as the other 30-40 Zone. This doesnt change my arguments though :P |

You have
a) not read my whole post (which comes with the statement "without expansions" and "outdoor zones") b) not realized what I actually wanted to say, which I think I made very clear (no exploring, mobs everywhere, no REAL outdoor) c) tried to start a flame war at which you hereby - at least concerning my potential involvement - failed Meridion |

Ok, so you want to be put in your place. Ok. Antonica Commonlands Thundering Steppes Nek Forest Zek Enchanted Lands Rivervale Feerrott Lavastorm Everfrost Thats 10 so far, now you didnt incude expansions which you should but ok ill live with that. But you did say 'outdoor zones' so i reserve the right to include: Oakmyst Forest Forest Ruins The Sprawl Cazic Thule (half anf half zone butim counting it) Graveyard Peat Bog Sunken City Lost Village of Kagup Trembling Lagoon The Runis Firemyst Gully Vale of the Shattering Eternal Gorge Cove of Decay Cauldron Hollow The Isle of Refuge Thats 26 so far and i dont think i need to continue, theres more. Add expansions, adventure packs and non 'outdoor' zones and the world you call small is not so small.

*sigh* Ok, I know you don't have much fun in life but intentionally misunderstanding people. Since you played EQ2 from the release you might just have no comparison, so I'll just take listing ultra-tiny shooter-scale zones like "Firemyst Gully" or "Oakmyst Forest" for what it is, not too serious
Sidenote: A in-scene-prejudice is confirmed here btw: Most People are blindly praising and following their current MMOG, whatever the cost: "The game I'm currently playing rules, no discussion!!!" There are only few people that admit there ARE flaws at their current games... What happens if you change their game? Well, you can see that at SWG, the ravaging cyber amok that affected most of the players after CU and NGE is downright scary. Makes you think about war in the world, you know? Oh, I forgot the frequent mentioning of the term "Communist" if someone actually IS critizising a game he/she is currently playing, which is considered "betrayal". To reconclude this. I don't know what demon drives your mind to state that EQ2s world is "not so small" as even the devs admitted almost a year ago that the EQ2 world "is very detailed and not so much designed for massiveness than for quality". About any other MMOG I've listed had triple size or more of the EQ2 outdoors; denying this is, well, don't take me wrong, it's just a little deluded... Meridion |

That's only your opinion scaramoosh. And I agree that Meridion is wrong. I don't think he actually played this game. There's alot more to it than what he seems to think there is. See, I can never get it when people who haven't really played the game think they know what it's all about. Besides, I could care less if the world is huge in the way that SWG was huge. SWG drove me batty because of how large everything was (still think that player city's was a terrible idea. I've never seen so much open space that was completely filled with city. Anywhere). This game doesn't. My website is closed temporarily. Hopefully it will only be a short delay. |
