CCP has announced that their MMORPG, EVE Online has surpassed the 30,000 Peak Concurrent User mark. The exact number, according to the news that was posted on the EVE Online site yesterday, was 30,538:

EVE Online realizes its goal of 30k simultaneous users

There was much to celebrate at the CCP office in Reykjavik today. In addition to the birthdays of CEO Hellmar's daughter who turned three and producer Oveur, whose "thirty something," shouts of joy rose up at 19:36 GMT as 30,538 EVE Online capsuleers zoomed their way into history by setting a new concurrent user record of over thirty-thousand simultaneous users on the Tranquility server.

" It is with great honor that I see the 30k mark being broken," said EVE player RipLee. "CCP has done an awesome achievement in such a feat. Kudos to CCP."

The thing that gets me is that while there was a bit of lag throughout, not once did I see a node crash the entire day. Even with hundreds of people frantically copying their bookmarks before the patch earlier today, the servers and DB stayed up. Usually on days with nearly this many people you can expect individual nodes to go down now and then or the entire cluster to reboot at least once.

I don't know if it was because of the new code branch EVE is running now, or just good preparation by CCP (hopefully both). More optimizations are coming in with Kali, so I think EVE can handle a thousand or so more accounts easily.

Good game but i just realised there are alot of farmers in this game like lineageII
ide say 10 k are farmers maybe ?
Ive bee piriating them for 3 weeks now i fouind them in almost evary system i visit in high sec.

Developers have done a wonderful job of re-tooling this game since launch and updating the graphical look as well.  To bad SOE hasn't looked to EVE has a role model for SWG.

How are you defining a farmer?

A miner?

AFK Macro miners. They are all over. You can make a living killing them and taking their containers. It seems the more of them you kill the more of them show up however.

Its good to see this game becoming more popular, especially with its recent installments and upgrades it has really come around.  Although I cannot say I contributed to this record they recently broke, I can say that it is well deserved and Eve has a lot of potential.  Good job CCP.
