Well I am dl'ing the game on BitTorrent right now. Was wondering what profession I should choose. I read up on a guide and so far I'm liking the Martial Artist, good choice or bad?

the MA is a very good choice for beginners imo. you have heals, deal out very good damage, not the best hp but great evades but what really makes it a good choice for beginners is the fact that you dont need to spend money on weapons

The only downside I can see about a MA as a starting profession is that it is rather dull to play. Your IPs are relatively easy to distribute, armours are usually cheap or easily rolled from missions, nanos are cheap and you don't even have that many, your weapons are your fists. It can really get boring.
But MA is a nice soloing class, and versatile in teams as you can choose to tank (high evades and lots of crit % needed), offtank/kill the adds (evades, all-damage), act as a supporter (heals, somewhat high damage) and so on and so forth. You're pretty much adventurer-ish (please MA's and Advies, don't bash me now :-) Another good starter prof is an Adventurer. Pretty much the same reasons as with the Martial Artist, but more juicy nanos, better heals (correct me if I'm wrong about this) and high HP. But the weapons cost. A lot. |

I would vote for a MA to start with if your clueless about the game. If you have some knowledge then Adventurer might be best. MA is pretty bland.. Adventurer's got more stuff to them lol

My first character was a solitus Nano-technician <3
Screw pistols, I went for hacking and bashing and raised my MA skill! Made it to level 39 and then decided it's time to try some other professions. As you see, your choice doesn't matter much. And soldier is probably too expensive for an efficient starter prof? |

Martial Artist is a good beginner profession. The learning curve is lessend(to a degree) and, most importantly, it allows for adequate soloing on Rubi-Ka. MA has decent attacks, I would recommend a hazangerine claw. This will alow for a melee and a weapon attack per round. More or less doubling your attacks per round. MAs can also heal, (second in healing to Doctor profession at higher levels) which facilitates easier soloing.
