Aw look another crybaby. Look, I like WoW but you idiots that come on here cry about how WoW got off the top 7 or 5, or however many there are on this site, just make me want to deny ever coming in contact with WoW because you make every other WoW player look like a fanboy. EDIT: I'll agree that the Pve in GW sux major ass. But the PvP in GW is A LOT better than WoW's. Basicly in WoW you spam one attack and jump around in circles. Bada-bing Bada-boom you've unlocked the secret to being good in WoW.

EDIT--This was posted before the above response was read-- Again-- IM not a wow fanbois but wow suck? How does it suck? I know many people that played it till they were bored of it-- and THEN IT SUCKED.
Add a SHIT LOAD OF MORE CLASSES. Currently there is mage hunter warrior druid priest pally shaman warlock rogue. BLEH-- get unique with the classes...make it interesting. Take a look at DAOC or even EQ2. Im tired of seeing the same boring classes. I cant beleive that this new expansion only adds 2 races...how boring is that. THey need to add 5 new classes and 4 new races. I know some of my ideas might be a bit extreme-- but dmn wouldnt that make the game a little more fun? |

I did not say WoW sucked. And everything you said would make EVERY game better PvP wise. Umm....no....that would kill the whole "Warcraft" theme. As in theme I mean story line. Pretty sure they already have that. Don't they all?

There is a good reason they don't charge monthly fees. It's cause the area's are instanced so it doesn't need much maintenance. Once again...I did not say the PvE in GW was good. I said it sucked ass. Just cause you have only 8 buttons to work with don't mean sh*t. You need 2 chooset hose 8 buttons wisely. In WoW you can throw as much out there as you want but you're really only going to be using 2 3...mabey 4 out on the battlefield. Even sometimes 5. So don't say GW's PvP is mindless. Go outside of IF or SW or Org and count how many people are jumping around in circles while dueling. Or atleast running in circles. Any video you watch of any kind of PvP in WoW is usually people running in circles.

I played a warlock, and uh, yeah, there's only about 8 useful abilities/spells for things, give or take one or two others. At 60, I was looking about around 4-5 debuffs, 1-3 attack spells, plus pet (which has 1-2 useful abilities). To those reading this, trust me, playing a class in WOW is no harder than in any other game. Hell, easier in a group; you usually don't even have to use as much stuff in raid as you ever did in 5-man groups, or solo. You just gotta listen for when it's your cue to use something, and do that. |

I think the fairness people will show wow when people aren't percieved to be trying to already hype a game with no hype left to give it, was evident not so long ago when there was a poll "Is WoW a good game" people were voting yes despite that they were saying they didn't like it because it is a good game just nothing with depth or anything unique as far as gameplay is concerned in my opinion. |

Obviously me and you disagree-- not a surprise
In pve I also have curse of recklessness which stops targets from running off in fear.
Immolate Conflag Shadowbolt Banish so were up to fifteen spells I use regularly in pvp My pet the felhunter can Silence-- Thats one So thats 18 spells I use ALL THE TIME Add in trinkets
......................................dont FKING TELL ME THAT your 8 button toon is harder to play than mine. GUILDWARS /sigh Least in wow you cant win in the bgs by sitting in the base with my area of effect buffs and just camp till the enemy comes to me. |
|
IT'S NOT HOW MANY SKILLS YOU HAVE IT'S HOW YOU USE THEM. WoW is one of the SIMPLIEST MMO's out right now. Are you even sure you've played the end game GW PvP? Cause I'm pretty sure we don't just camp in the base. Lock's are one of the best classes in the game so I'm not suprised they use that many spells. But use another class and you don't have many. Once again, it's not how many you have but how you use them.

What you have is typical ballon burting. People love making something big and famous then popping it like a balloon. Typical modern human nature. Just like they love to see people suffering. Makes their own problems seem not so big. Thats the reason shows like Springer, the Island, and American Idol make it so big. Its sad really that people think its ok to have people suffer for their own entertainment. But back to WoW. Its the big boy on the block now. Time to blast it and destroy it. It's a good game but what people have to understand is that at lvl 60...the game sucks. And they have to understand that not everybody can feel the same way they do and other people are going to get tired of it. They also need to stop crying whenever someone doesn't share the same views on the game as they do.

Alright I just noticed this. That, right there, ruins you credability. How can you comment on the game when you've played it for one day? Simple, you can't. So you are, in fact, a WoW fanboy.

Ranking any of the other lame RPGs above WoW seems pretty dumb to me.. yeah WoW has problems.. there should be more than just one auction house for the Horde and Alliance, but looking at the ratings... WoW is really just getting killed in Lag, community, customer service and Roleplaying... and if just the lag factor wasnt so bad the game would be rated a bit higher.. likely back at number one. But after playing FF XI, Everquest, Planeshift, Knights Online, Silk Road, and many other lesser knowns.. WoW is better.
|
|
Without the lag WoW would be ranked higher. Not the highest...but higher. The lag would still not make up for the fact that the end game content is crap. And calling all of the other MMO's "lame"...ugh...I don't even wanna start....But those MMO's that you listed WoW is better then them. Oh and incase you didn't already know there is more than oh AH for each side.
|
|
|
What I mean by lame is that so many are no longer original.. same basic ideas.. and many others nearly completely the same just in a different setting. I did enjoy all the games I mentioned with the exception of Silk Road because I had been playing too much KO at the time.. Another thing I hated about WoW was the fact that anyone can kill you anywhere.. running around at low levels and some guy gets off his mount and kills me in one hit.. it was pretty annoying alot of the time.
|
|
That's what we call "PvP". In most of the other games they have "PvP" and no instanced BG's. I know shocking. If this is what ruins a game for you, then I'm sorry but mabey MMO's aren't your type of game. And it's also why blizzard made PvE servers. Just so you know.

CoR sees far less use at end-game, though I concede until then that you get your money's worth out of it. Conditionally, however. Some mobs don't run.
CoX was another situational debuff, and it replaces CoR, or any other Curse. You only get the one Curse to use. After that are 2-3 other debuffs, and that be it.
I never used CoX. Ever. I went for MD, and Siphon Life, but CoX takes far too much investment to make good on, if you are anything other than straight Affliction. And honestly? Over half the warlocks I ever spoke to who ever got CoX were of the same mind: it's useless anyway. The consensus on almost all forums I visited was that CoX was a neat trick, but hardly worth needing to get.
PVP only, for the most part, and defeated almost entirely by anyone with a decent trinket or two. Howl of Terror was especially frowned on in raids, and known to cause quite a few wipes when inexperienced warlocks used it. Only in a very few cases does it serve a purpose outside of PVP. And now that they are on the same diminishing-returns as Seduce, which would you rather have? Something to make a guy run around out of range sometimes, making you chase him down, or CC that keeps him in one spot long enough to wind up a Shadowbolt or Soul Fire?
No argument at all there; this is the bread and butter of all warlocks who get it. I always started off with it in PVP.
Mostly PVP spells. You could use them in PVE, but I found the tactic of using DoTs, Drains, and wand, with a voidwalker to tank and hold aggro, was far easier. But if you wanted to grind a bunch of mobs fast, you could do the same, then aggro an extra mob or three and blast away while the VW off-tanks. Shadowburn, additionally, is Destruction spec. If you went Affliction and Demonology, bye-bye Shadowburn.
Conflag was a Talent-based spell; if you weren't Destruction-specced, it wasn't there for you. Immolate is bread and butter, though.
Shadowbolt was basic. Banish less so; there were specific incidents of how to use it, but fewer when you were in groups. For example, I used to farm Felwood demons all day long, keeping claim-jumpin' folks off me by Banishing one, loading up DoTs on two others, and having the VW off-tank one while I blew the other to kingdom-come. But that trick didn't work in, say, Feralas or Tanaris. You had to grind the old-fashioned way, there.
Uh, you don't use all of those in PVP, man. Banish? That's maybe an anti-warlock tactic, nothing more. And killing the 'lock is easier and simpler. And a few of your spells are Talent-based. That may not invalidate them, exactly, but for those with different builds, it's useless to say that all warlocks used them. For myself, what I did pretty good with spell-wise was: Death Coil, Fear, Immolate, Corruption, Curse of Agony, and Searing Pain (fast and cheap DD; doesn't do a lot of damage, but hard as hell to interrupt, and leaves no trace of direction it came from). With an Affliction spec, you can add Siphon Life, make Corruption insta-cast, and make your debuffs stick better. With Demonology, your demons definitely add something to you for having them out (nothing like that MD with a felhunter to really kick up the resists). Destruction gave you more DD ability, and just as I quit WOW, all the 'locks were rather proud at fine-tuning the Searing Pain build (which was more efficient for PVP than some other Destro builds).
I wasn't gonna list pets, because technically, you could put them on auto-attack or something, and let them do their thing. Felhunters were especially decent fire-and-forget weapons against other casters. Them, and imps.
Didn't have Engineering. And only one trinket that did anything other than passive stat buffs (Tidal Charm, FWIW; nothing like a 3-second stun). I will admit, that was my fault. I was too stupid to know that end-game crafting in WOW was so crap-tacular, that Engineering and Alchemy were darn near the only things worth getting. Hell, I was a Tailor/Enchanter, so you know I had it rough (pre-1.9, anyway).
Uh, no. I never said it was. I said that you didn't need 15 buttons to play. L2readforcontent.
Naw, but you can get Honor by doing nothing, simply because you were on the team. Ain't life grand? |

ok.. since your twisting my words a bit allow me to clear a few things up.. WoW is as original as a MMORPG needs to be. However, games like KO and SR have no originallity in consideration to gameplay... hack n slash especially in the early going. But there is different types of PvP.. incase you didnt know.. for instance EQ only allows someone to attack you if they are within 5 levels of your own level. Which seems fair (but not as much now because of so many twinks).. but in WoW, you can be running around at lvl 18 and a lvl 45 player from the opposite faction can just kill you on site. Thankfully WoW went towards dishonorable kills to somewhat prevent that. And as for the reasons I was on a PvP server? a good friend got me involved in the game and thats the only places he will play.. so i dealt with it. |

Everquest may let you kill people only 5 levels lower than you but as far as I know that EQ is the only game that does that. And you're comparing WoW to free downloadable games. wtf? Compare it to EQ2, DAOC, and all those other phantasy MMO's. WoW is basicly just the same.

*Gasp* Could Guild Wars be a game you need to make friends in as well? I'm sorry, but I'm getting sick of the WoW kiddies that are still in the age group of "Gimme gimme gimme I'm always right, no one can have a different opinion than me, Gimme!" I'm sorry...But OP, this is a 10-13yr old personality (Generally, not all 10-13yr olds are like this, but most are) and you are a perfict model of a child who has had some sub-par parenting. Get a degree, then I might consider putting up a good argument as opposed to having this be my first troll post on these forums. (1997) UO --> EQ -> Runescape -> DAoC -> WoW -> EVE + WAR (2008) |

I don't have a degree. Just 10 years in the IT industry, 2 decades of gaming experience, and a healthy interest in various topics ranging from history to philosophy. If that disqualifies me from talking about things here... well, hell, what does it matter anyway? Some college graduates around here are as inarticulate as any high school kid. At least you don't need a grammar book and a Ouija board to figure out what I'm trying to say, even if you don't agree with me. |

I have a degree and am also a Music Educator, Professional Trumpet Player, and a Music Therapist. Perhaps I should say "Become a professional" from now on? Recomendations anyone or should I call the people who can't seem to write a single sentence with out problems and a narrow mind those with "Cranial Rectal Inversion Syndrome"? We do disagree but I don't think I was "being a little harsh" or harsh at all No I don't use any of it, I don't play the game and haven't for a while and got bored of it soon after playing it. I think raiding mobs(I'll add solo or group killing monster or mob) over and over again to just to level up and get that stuff is incrediably boring and repeative when having nothing better to use those skills for than the next grind, I think the PVP is weak at best, think the crafting is also overly simplified and to much rewards for loot drops and to many alternatives to buying player made gear to make crafting worthwhile and RPing almost non existent on the RPing PVP sever I played the game on. I prefered EQII but than again I played it before wow and got bored of that for the same basic reasons(so wow wasn't the logical choice after EQII) I hate to grind just so I can level and have the best gear and for no other purpose or venue to use all the levels and gear recieved while grinding Guildwars isn't really for me either but like wow its good for what it does and I'll go as far to say more orginal. When I say wow has a lack of depth I mean it has little to nothing other than killing mobs repeatively to gain levels(especially those kind of level based games) and gear(which can be done crafting but in wow whats the point when loot drops are so strong and other non-crafting players don't need player supplied gear) or generally mean nothing other than the combination of those levels and grinding rewards for nothing other than killing the next monster that you can |
