Ken Johnston of Persistent Worlds, the European partner of Acclaim, returns with a new developer journal here on MMORPG.com. Today, he discusses the reputation system in 9 Dragons, their upcoming martial arts MMORPG.

This is the fourth in a series of exclusive articles for MMORPG introducing 9Dragons. 9Dragons is the first authentic martial arts massively multiplayer online game. Think of the world of Hero, House of the Flying Daggers, Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon or even Jackie Chan’s classic Drunken Master (if you are old enough or into martial arts enough!)

That world is created for you in 9Dragons. You can rise from a poor beggar to being a master of the martial arts through training with some of the greatest masters of ancient China.

I've followed this game for a while now, and this is beginning to sound interesting.  Although the main fault with current MMORPGs are still not addressed, which raise my skepticism about the above said reputation system.

The reputation system in itself has rewards like higher hit rates or greater strength, sounds good!  Will this be like the players with the best gears will always get the better ones, and always beat everyone else?  That's actually fine with me, if everyone have an equal chance of achieving the goal of being the best.  Not everyone has the time to grind through a bazillion levels.

Also, seems kind of short lasting - that feeling you get when you reach the top or have that special attribute added from reputation.  Once you get used to it, you'd probably take it for granted, or it just become permanent.
And besides, what do we do with all these added bonuses?  more end-level grind and never achieve anything?  I don't think anyone would ever say "Geez, this end-level grind is mind-numbingly boring, if I only had 2 more points in strength, that will make this game WAY more fun!!".

Again, sorry for the skepticism but personally and from what I read in these forums, peopel are tired of spending money on another MMORPG just because Developers keep coming up with different ways to make the game sound better than it actually is, just to make some quick cash.

Overall though, it is an improvement from others in the market.

This is the 3rd or 4th time in a month that you guys have typo-ed or made an obvious error in the header/title of your story.  Proofreading is good.  Try some.

Two examples that I recall...

The reputation of system of 9 Dragons is explained

Yeah lol just what i was thinking, but at least the ideas are fresh. Also like the 2nd poster mentioned i hope its not more about who has the best gear because we all know that will lead to farmers which will also mean who is the richest on the block. Just wsh they'd think of another method to deal with the farmer issues.

Awesome Game to beat the boredom blues at work
