I take you you apply the same logic to 'ANY' MMO out there then ? None of them have released with all the function in game that they implied would be there at launch. Sad to say it seems to be the common approach for MMO's to do this lately and one that most people seem to be happy to live with since Box sales seem to indicate it (although ongoing subscriptions such as in DDO seem to indicate the addiiton of the function post launch doesn't seem to be as fast as required). |

Heh I actually enjoyed my time in Isatria until the server performance issues for world events made them a slide show to participate in. When HZ launches the Expansion with the new client I may be tempted to pick it up and give it a try again. Back to the subject tho DnL was also a game I was highly anticipating, but over last year have my expectations for the game have dropped considerably, that being said i'll still give it a go. Tthere are too many people with personal axes to grind for me to take everything at face value, and..... I never take much notice of film critics opinions regarding movies (some of the worst reviewed movies have been a blast for me), so i'd like to form my own opinion of DnL. If DnL doesn't pan out well i'm out $54.99 but at least i'm going into it with mey eyes open , I still think it has tremendous potential whether it can live up to that potential only time will tell. |

There is one problem i have with the promises and players being angry. This game coulda just done like other games and showed off a great animated movie and give speeches like president bush so that no one would understand ,but they didn't. I am/was willing to give it a try with an open mind based on other MMO's i have played, without worrying about any promises they made.Promises mean squat to where this game rates amongst other games. So you have to actually play the real thing and then draw comparisons. Here lies another problem>>am i going to fork out 15 bucks a mnth plus the cost of a game to find out i won't play it?NO WAY ! If they have any confidance in there game at all ,they better well come out with a 7-14 day free trial. Not only is this smart but really populates the game more ,so that players have a better feeling while in the game. This is just good marketing .Coming out with a free trial months later when the game is dying out is IMO lame and not gonna win anyone over. Sidenote..the crafting was the part i was really interested in.I have to say im dissapointed.I did NOT like the idea of total luck based crafting such as stars/moon phases as was done in FFXI.EQ2 has a much better system that allows for more user skill to determine the outcome.Luck based system is nothing more than point/click and sitback. This would bore the heck outa me in one game day.So on this sidenote, unless any changes occur,DNL won't be getting my money. http://www.youtube.com/user/Napolianboo#p/u/15/rCYLLQCNc1w |

Dark & Light beta started June of last year and lasted only 2.5 months until they unofficially canceled it due to nobody loggin into the server or testing the game. Plus, the 80 or so beta testers were extremely mad because we reported bugs that never went fixed... there was no direction and absolutly nobody to talk to during beta. It was like a closed alpha with 100 people wonder who or what we were suppose top be doing. I don't even think Farlan knew what they were suppose to be doing, just that most of these companies have a beta...so they tried it. Honestly, it was that chaotic and meaningless. Actually, your are the one who is wrong. DnL beta began in October 2003, with very few people ( something like 20 ). These were close relatives to the devs, IRC/instant messenger friends, and very active fans. In November, the first "random testers" arrived. Something like 200. The beta ran offline untill Apri 2004 ( if I remember well ) when the first online beta was introduced. It was trully basic, the chat system was even a simple IRC channel with an in-game frontend. The beta continued untill one or two weeks after the opening of SoG. At that time, NP3 claimed than more than 5000 people were beta testers... when the biggest beta event did not see more than 80 people online. SoG was the direct result of two full years of beta testing. But in fact, it was not "beta testing". Testers had no tools, were not listened to, did not have the right to make proposals and to criticise the gameplay, and "objective" and negative testers were flamed. Shortly after the release of SoG, the beta was closed. It was closed because they had no server available to run it ( and no real beta tester base except from a fistfull of fanboys ). It reopened recently ( 2 weeks ago ) for a very limited ( 20-30 ) number of extreme fans, those who are close to the devs, and that never really went agaisnt their disastrous choices. Imagine : SoG was the result of two plain years of beta testing, involving 5000 different beta testers. And it was such a mess. |

Best thing I've ever read before.....do you remember the release day of WoW? It wasn't ready at first. There were several bugs over months. And think of it: Whats up with battlegrounds? Do you ever saw a catapult? Are we able to besiege citys? Nothing of all. There are many more things not implemented. And there are 6 Millions subscribers..... Dark and Light will be a game for players. Real players. Not this: "Ey you guy, go away and bring me 20 XYZ Eyes and you will get XYZ Item" Players are able to determine? how this world will function (sry for my bad english). If you take a city by storm, it will be yours. If noone crafts a good sword, there won't be good swords. And don't forget Alchemic Dreams. Live Events and you could be the one who helped destroy the land or save citys and landscapes. I believe that the missing contest will be follow. Really. Don't know when, but I will be there and have a look. Take a look at the greatest MMORPG this time. WoW. It's interesting if you are not level 60. Then this game ends and its boring. With bugs and lags and missing features. I mean its the same thing in all games. First they made promises they cannot keep. Then you hear nothing until game releases. If its out, they will try to fix bugs and implement missing contest. Its the same in every game. |

Please note, only testers will be able to get in tomorrow, all others have to wait till June 5th. You will not be even able to download the client till probably tomorrow. (Wednesday May 31st). If you got an email about the launch, its to set up your subscription which you pay $39.99 for the activation key and then $14.99 for the subscription or the credits. Below information is right from the email I received. Pioneers will have access to Ganareth as of the 30th of May, 2006, at 18:00 UTC. |

The ONLY way I'd go anywhere NEAR this title is if they do a free trial. Till then there's no way I'd go anywhere near it.

i tried is yesterday evening, and it was absolutely terrible. the game crashed immediately unless i put resolution and details to minimal settings plus game engine mode (whatever it is) to 1 (of 10). the game looked terrible, it was incredibly slow, i was kind of shocked. maybe i will try it again tonight to give it a second chance, but frankly, i was stunned on how bad it looked and felt. more like shareware than anything.

I am one of them that did buy the game. I read all these posts. I understand that people are mad. Ashame there is so much flame. The flying of the dragons looks awsum. The game world indeed not perfect in design but has so many posibilities and if the devs listen well and still feel positive enough to fight for their product they might be able to survive the angree mob... the gamer... I have played many MMORPGs EQ1+EQ2, Asherons Calls 2, SWG, WOW, Lineage2. Hmm wonder if I forget one inbetween somewhere... but this is just to explain I have played a lot of them. They all have something fun. Ofcourse not all can be perfect for every person has their own wish. So about the small things I like about this promising yet indeed lacking incompleted game. Try to jump of a rock... that looks so way cool... You make a dive for it... Fly on a dragon when it rains and then see how it looks above the clouds... no rain eyes closed for the blue sky and the sun that makes you want to use your hands to cover them... so nice so real... Granted that the look down wasnt perfect due to the fact that the further the scenery was the land became broken of in them air picture views you get when you look at aerial photos. Swimming looked nice too... how you dive in the water or the backflip you make landing in it... Did not agree with their view on womans clothing -chuckles- but thats all in the view of the maker... Since man are often the ones making the game I understand they want to see them Undies on the woman as armour I have only played it two days now and will see what will come of it and give them the time to find that edge that I myself am missing in other games... The feeling to be part of something that changes through my actions... This is just my own view so doesn't need an attack in my opinion. The gate system is great. How you can bind to a spot and then teleport there after you die. Lets hope they will be able to make DnL work! Its the community that makes the world you know.... without a cool nice community there is nothing... My first experiance with the people there is whoa there are some very nice people running around on it... Lets hope that it stays like that and only those that have a friendly spirit come to play... Very curious what part of my post will be killed -grins- and taken out to bash and flame with ! I would say go for it! |

Good to see your enjoying it so far,as that is the purpose of playing[too enjoy yourself] I just can't force myself to be slapped in the face then pay them to do it..nope uh uh.Every paying customer should be treated equal, not just the beta testers.I'm not about to join a game that gives players 30 level headstarts, especially when PVP is involved.I also had a feeling the community is very foreign to myself. From all the posting over the months,it really seems like the game is 75% french and 20% mixed.Hard to believe i would feel like the minority ,but i really do as the other 5% english speaking n.american.I also refuse to pay any money to any company that doesn't trust there product to at least offer a trial. This game through very bad management has already lost me as a customer.A free trial down the road would be considered a lame attempt to attract people to a game hurting for revenue.Too late they blew it. http://www.youtube.com/user/Napolianboo#p/u/15/rCYLLQCNc1w |

This game was truly a case of how much more pain can I go through. After hours and hours with just trying to get myself logged in (d/l probs, login probs took two days to get straightened out, play with video configurations for hours to try and get some semblence of an okay screen, then wait for some fix which only seemed to break more things) I made it in only to be told that the mobs aggroing me as soon as I spawned in I wasnt supposed to kill as they are pets of the God of my birth town! There is no direction, no newbie help, nothing to tell you anything! Flying around was indeed beautiful but you could still see some of the graphic glitches if you tried to move your angle. And lets talk about the camera -- oh my god, made me queasy , flinging all over hell up and down and around and seasick? No, too good a word . Customer support pretty much amounted to send us your information and we will try to help. No more response. Another email. Send us this info instead and we will try to help. No response. Another email. There is nothing they can do. Only by sifting through a rude and immature forum was I able to find an answer, placed by another player that could help me. (I did happen upon a post by a Mod pretty much stating that if we did not ask in a certain way, our help request would pretty much sit at the bottom because its rude! However, not having a manual or instruction book on exactly how we are supposed to word our help requests, I am not sure if mine is still sitting on the bottom or not. I mean how many ways can you ask them to help you login when it says you dont have an account but you paid for it. And since they have my money, of course Im gonna be nice in asking my first coupla times. After asking me to send in all the info they could get about what type of computer and systems I have on it, I still have not gotten my answer. Perhaps telling them the system I had was rude?) The game is painful. Truly painful. |

I was one of those that have been waiting a very long time for this game. I never made it to beta, didn't get into SOG (I refused to pre-order the game). Now, I see what is has become. I've finally seen combat footage...and...it's terrible. Screenshots are graphically sub-par. Anyone that compares this release to WoW is a moron. Every MMORPG has had some issues so far, but WoW is a much more polished game and was so even during it's release. Even Shadowbane had a better release and was more done than this game.... oh well... I'm used to games hyping something they can't deliver. I was all gung ho for Horizon's as well and look what happened there. I agree, the game doesn't have long until it's dead. |

Aye, A SOG refugee here and now a DNL refundee. This game is a total joke. Even the forums over there are a crock. You can even see the Dev begging people to like his game. His fans telling everyone to feel sorry for him as he has a family and needs this game, its )#$%*@#$)%* carnival all the way. Not only are the Devs and the drama they provoke those of a couple of 15 yr olds in their parents garage, the game itself looks and acts like it was made by 15yrs old in their parents garage. Not worth the time, effort, cash or brain cells. |
