Sounds great to me. Looking forward to the Diplomacy element and crafting system as well.

I dunno what you are talking about! She could have easily talked about how travel is a pain in the ass or the fact that people HATED CRs in EQ1. What about the quests requiring tradeskills of a specific type, or even race/class? Thats about retarded... people don't have the "right" to access all content (their words)? What the heck is that about? I've seen this game in action now and it's far from amazing. The days of meding/sitting are back and running for miles and miles to try and find what you are looking for as well. Map system they might as well just remove. The graphics are not impressive and the system is sluggish as hell. Corpse recoveries, massive death penalties, contested content and long travel time is NOT what made EQ1 fun. There is plenty of ways s/he could have ripped this game apart. |

Our family played the original EQ for 4+yrs. My main concern is Sigil switching to SoE. Agree the game promises what I want to hear. But this is how they have drawn us many, many times in the past to only find out it's different or changed with a mention that mmorpg's evolve or game vision changes. Original developers move on without totally fixing bugs etc.. Too bad our family has blacklisted purchasing games when SoE is involved in any shape or form. *shrug* Wish Sigil the best. |

I remember when Brad & Co. left Verant/Sony and all the crying about the loss of "The Vision (tm)". Frankly, EQ1 started getting better after they left. All the things they're saying will be "fun" is so not my idea of fun, corpse runs being at the top of the list. And when I disagree with people about that, they say I want a "dumbed down" game that's too easy. Okay, how is running for your corpse a smarter game with more challenges? It's not even good roleplay. Go ahead, the rest of you can flame on, I'm used to it. I just don't see how Corpse runs, massive death penalties, and any excuse for excessive down time make it more fun. Next they'll be bringing back that big-arse spell book blocking your screen while you sllooooooowwwly mediate your way to full mana. |

Enough with the "fun" thing, you are getting it all wrong, an MMORPG does not have to be "fun" it has to be EPIC, and for that you need to suffer, you need pain and effort, you need to be really scared to die, that leads to EPIC battles and situations you will not forget, helping your friends and getting help from them. |

When I work ten to twelve hours days in RL, I come home and want my entertainment buck spent on fun. Not about fun? I don't need a second job that I play at my desk after working my arse off in the real world. I'm not saying I don't want epic. I'm not saying I don't want challenge. But what I don't want is tedium. Corpse runs are an exercise in tedium.

"Content is king" as the Ranger of Verant/Sigil has stated many times. Vanguard certainly seems to have a plethora of content & promises possible great amounts of fun. Let's just hope that besides offering a rewarding challenge that Sigil remembers that games are indeed supposed to be fun for the players & not just time-sinks. i disagree with the "entitlement" accusation mentioned in the article though. Doesn't Sigil want Vanguard fun for all players with an ability to progress, casual to professional, or are Sigil & SOE already specifically marketing for a certain player type? Vanguard is already however seemingly following a similar path of Everquest, especially with this recent switch to SOE. Alone this isn't a reason to abandon a possible great potential game, but it does heed concern. i applaud the innovations that Sigil seems to be trying to implement, but as a casual player i hope Sigil doesn't allow SOE persuasion to slant the games interaction with players too much. Overall, too early to tell whether Sigil's alliance with SOE again will be positive or negative for Vanguard. Evidence of Everquest should be considered however & how SOE handles customer service. i still miss EQ, it was great fun but more because of the players than how SOE operated it. Whereas i was certain i was going to purchase & play Vanguard now i'm reserved to await more information since the Sigil & SOE merger. Sure does seem SOE has many MMOs under it's belt now though. Goodluck with Sigil & SOE. |

There's a simple solution to corpse runs: don't die. I think this was the intent of the devs...play smart, or pay a penalty. Where's the fun in that? As much as I hate death penalties and corpse runs when I die in a game with a steep penalty, it also makes me feel that much better about myself when I LIVE. Laura "Taera" Genender |

I totally agree I wasn't saying that corpse runs were a bad thing. It is a way for people to play somewhat conservative and come up with stratigies to kill a certain mob. I know everyone can remember... Pull, Mez, Wack, Heal, MEZ MEZ MEZ.. Can you tell I was an Enchanter |

Corpse runs = game killer, suck, lame SOE = poor CS, poor server managment, terrible comunication This game will be great for the 20% of MMO'ers out there and the rest of us will just have to wait for the next WOW. ------------------------- |

Well since 20% of MMO'ers equates to about 1.5 million people I am sure Sigil and Sony will have no problem with that. The games not for every one, they already said that. I have never played EQ or UO and have limited time for playing so I expect I will be playing Heroes Journey and not Vanguard. But that doesnt mean we should be slaiming the people who will play and enjoy this game. The more successful games there are in the market the better it is for everyone as developers cna get funding for innovative games. So I hope Vanguard is a big success. |
