Sean "Ashen Temper" Dahlberg, the Community Manager for Shadowbane, who recently guest wrote for us at E3, has provided an update on the future of Shadowbane over on their official website. Wolfpack Studios ceased to exist today, but it seems there is hope in store for players of the game.

I am not at liberty to say much at this moment. There is currently an official announcement in the works that will explain things at greater length and detail. At the same time, we know the community has many questions and we do not wish to just ignore the situation. What I can say at this point is that come tomorrow, Shadowbane will still be running and you'll still have Sachant and myself here to do what we do best. You will also see Jinx, who is new to the Shadowbane Team but an old member of the community itself.

Let me dispel any rumors before they begin. Today Wolfpack Studios has been dissolved and is no more. With that said, members of Wolfpack are reforming under a new group. This group will be working with Ubisoft to help usher in the next era of Shadowbane.

In other words, do not go anywhere! The Saga that is Shadowbane has many more chapters to be written and read!

And this is why I love Shadowbane.  I truely believe they care about their product.

I hope Shadowbane 2 is in the works!

They should have just let it die.  If it were a viable game they wouldn't have had to close Wolfpack to begin with.  Now, maybe they learned some lessons for Shadowbane and can come out with a better and more advanced product for Shadowbane 2, if it's in the works.  Either way, there are few people who care for the open PvP that is the foundation of Shadowbane.  It's just chaotic and pointless.  But I'm sure all the little noob-ganking immature kiddies will disagree with me there.  Well, maybe not, since they all likely migrated to WoW a long time ago.

In the words of Beetlejuice, this game is "Dead, dead, deadsky".

ROFL PvP in any other game but Shadowbane is pointless.  Go take a look at most of the new games in development and you will find they are trending more to open PvP like Shadowbane and away from EQ. One of the most anticipated games in development is Darkfall and it is planned to have even less restrictions on PvP then Shadowbane. So if you don't like PvP just don't play the PvP games and stay behind in EQ.

I would have played SB longer if there had been something to do to relax. I like killing but sometimes ya just want to hang out. Maybe I'm just getting old. naaaa

Dead or not dead... That is the question. The other point is, what about the actual free state of the game (will it stay like AO?). If they do this, the game will be dead for sure. But with a restraint team, they can't charge like for other game, as maintenance and evolution will be quite sparse no?

Great! I hope they can take the good of shadowbane and make it even better.
Fight the good fight for PvP that actually means something in the game!
