Greetings everybody.

Not sure if this have already been asked but I would like to know what is the average income for somebody that is hired by an MMORPG company.

How much the common GM's make per year, and of course, the DEV's, graphic developers, coders, QA and CS, etc.

The reason I am asking this is because I would like to know if there is worth to consider the training required by such positions in an MMORPG company.

Nothing is impossible. Some things are just less likely than others.

It depends on how succesful he mmorpg is and how important your role is.

Well, let's take the GM's from EVE Online or Anarchy-Online, or even WoW... what would be the average income per year / month?

Same as any other customer support-job (low-medium income). The big money goes to the company not the employees (the company in turn could give bonuses but that doesnt happen too often/never).
The programmers/people involved in development could have a hefty salary though.

When you have a shiny new hammer, every problem looks like a nail.

If you work at Jagex, (Runescape) the typical salary of a customer service rep is £15k a year.

I have a friend working there.

15k pounds for a GM possition... not that much indeed, I was expecting somethng somwere double since the MMO's company ususaly make a very good income. But yet again, depends on the company and the fact that you don't realy do anything else than using the tools to fix some problems following the company policies

Double would be a lowly programmer on the Dev team.

WE LOVE YOU EN1GMA!

Personally, I don't know why people want to get into the MMORPG sector of the game industry. Pick something less stressful, like single player RPGs, or FPS or something like that. MMORPGs have long development times, lots of crunch time where you need to get things done, and just all around are annoying.

If I ever get a job in the field of my choice (god forbid I get hired some day) I would like a company that focused more on RTS or FPS games. They're fun, enjoyable, and not a whole hell of a lot of work ::::15::

Well, since this post is about income, Ill make my semi-related question:

What would a programmer win in a company of mid-level(the average, more or less, not an exact value). And what about a 2D artist? And a 3D Modeller?

Its just I would like to get a degree in programming, and for now my dream is to get into the games industry. However but dream doesn't tell me I have to be a programmer. I could work there as a 3D modeller as well (a 2D artist as well, but for that you need more creativity than for modelling what other design for you... or so I think).

Thx

I was looking at their hiring standards. The salary ranges from £15k - £51k actually

Programmers i believe would make about £27k or so

Leader, Chief Executives make about £40k-£51

Lowest paying is the customer service, web design like you said would be about £15k-£20k
