Path to Kali is the latest expansion (all free) for EVE Online. Coming in three stages, this expansion will take the award winning graphics to the next level and much more.

Exciting things are in store for players of EVE online. The updated graphics are… in one word… sweet! Starting with ships, the new textures will be launched very shortly. Players with older systems and video cards do not need to fret. If their game machines are unable to support the high resolution graphics, the old textures are still supported.

Plans are to tackle first the ships, then the stations, then ultimately, space. Also in the works is Trinity 2, a graphics engine based on Windows Vista. This update is the first part of their new expansion – code named Kali – which will be released in 3 stages.

I within a month, the new graphics and ships will get released, and the VoIP service. Great! Though there are a few things that concern me.

First is that so much has been placed for the second release. I wonder how much of this had to get pushed back for more development, and if there is risk that it could get pushed back even more. CCP seems to have learned a little more every time about planning and getting expansions out in a timely way. Lets hope they've got it together for The Path To Kali.

Second is, where is the Contract System that CCP has been raving about for so long now? One of the biggest features that CCP has actually planned to release for Kali (and told the community about, as the graphics, VoIP, and gang revamps are all new) and it isn't even on the list!!!

Great news! Even if I am a bit disapointed because i was waitng for reverse enginering that is needed for the economics. Still it looks like they set the expectations much clearer this time

Good rundown, lots of great info in there, best coverage of EVE I've seen from E3 so far.

What about crafting?  That's about the only thing I found interesting in Eve.  Well, actually the economy, as crafting was so simple.  But if crafting is made to be interesting I'd have stuff to do while playing the economy.

This may even bring me back to the game. I loved the gameplay when EVE first came out. I think I may even reactivate my account just to see this exciting exp.

I played EVE Online since Beta, but stopped when World of Warcraft launched. So Ive not played the game in over a year. Last month I subscribe for 1 month to give it another go and see what improvements had been done.

The improvements we're impressive, but I felt so left behind in the technology department and soon realised, that new players could never compete with the games long term vets.

My main character has a couple of Battleships, but I still felt I couldn't compete. So the point of this post is: THEY NEED NEW STARTING SERVERS, if they did I would start the game again.

Cheers for reading

I`ve been playing Eve since day 2 and I have friends that started Eve just a few months ago and they can compete with me.
Depends on how you play it not on how long you`ve been playing it.

Um, sorry, but I think your a bit .  Comming from a guy who just got into eve about 1 month and 15 days ago (who's counting?  not me...) that means alot.  Sure, the tutorial is a bit tedious (about 30-40 min for the first portion), it is so worth it (and you can skip it if you so choose)...

Ok, because I don't have the standing to rate the game yet, I will use this as a soap box for a second, because the game needs defense...  For those of you checking the forum out to get a feel for the game, here you are.  Yes, the tutorial is long, yes, I run into pricks who have been playing since the beta and feel the unrelenting desire to flex their skill-point might, and yes, flight time takes a long time.  Now that we have gotten that out of the way, the game is an investment, and that investment pays off over time, but that doesn't mean that new guys need suffer.  If you are thinking about trying the game out, do it.  Get the trial and ram through the tutorial.  What you want to do is only the first part of the tutorial, forget the rest of it, skip it, and join a corp.  Most corps understand the "investment" it takes to play the game, and will help you out ALOT.  My corp (Hellions Consortium) gave me 1 mill inside my first day, to get what I needed (could use), and move ship to their home base.  Over the course of the last month I think I have gotten about 20-30 million isk (dollars) thrown my way, and a few ships to boot.  Without that I would have probably given up on the game, because yes, doing it alone is boreing.  Now I am making a few mill a night, and soon will be bringing in quite a bit more (thats the investment paying off).

Hhaving a corp help me with that investment helped me stay in the game.  You just have to get used to the time investment (skills and travel time).  Oddly, after only a month I can hold my own against some of my own corp members.  Yes, they have an edge, but I can do quite well.  And when in a pickle I can't handle alone, they jump in to help too.  So it all works out.

All that said, I am soooo looking forward to the graphic and feature upgrades right around the corner...

ok then...  i'm done...
