Honestly, none of those games have me terribly excited.  I'll probably just play some DDO with my former guildmates until something better comes along.  Something better like a new Star Wars MMORPG.

I will probably take a look at Conan. I just hope Funcom does a better job this time.

Funcom just signed a deal with Microsoft invovling Conan.. I didn't read anything about it.. it just stood out to me because that sort of explains the rather sudden shift of Vanguard over to Sony.

"Denial does not change reality."

I am now playing DDO with my husband, brother, sister, daughter and her boyfriend AND an old friend/guildmate. It is time to enjoy another game for what it is. Nothing will compare to what SWG used to be, and holding games to that lofty standard of addiction would deny me the joys other games may allow me.

I am actually enjoying DDO for now - -I know this is not a long term game, but it fits the bill for all of us until we are ready to try something else. Have to wait and see how DDO does when it goes PvP very soon....was quite a surprise announcement.

Nullum magnum ingenium sine mixtura dementiae fuit

AO wouldn't have sucked so much if it was properly budgeted.

Honestly a lot of AO's concepts were way ahead of their time.

I will most likely play Warhammer Online, but out of sheer nerdom I'll take a peek at STO.

Just about anything you can think of, has been in AO in one form or another.

But IMHO, they stretched in length, not breadth.

The grind is insane, for little to no reward, actions are all the same, they just increase in damage every x levels.
The implant/mod system extremly complex, but probably too extensive.
Crafting and resources, good, but once again being tied to stats was too limiting, resulting in various twinks and item abuse.
World - big, diverse, but again too big and most of it has little purpose
Cities - cool, but they are all the same basically
Instanced missions - convenient, interesting aproach with random spawns all over the area, but too simplistic, always the same blocky layout
Conquerable areas - ok, but once again too big for general population, most of the time everything was just sitting there
Travel - many options, but often cumbersome, some "required" areas required suicide to get back to town
And much more....
Shops, terminals, portals, grid, marketplace, etc. - tons of diversity all over the place

But unfortunately much of it is stretched out, and comes through as incomplete. If this were AAA production, it would write the MMO history (and even without that it did to some extent). But whatever aspect you want, you're extremly likely to find it in AO. But it's age is showing badly.
