Man I miss everquest so much but I had to quit over and over again  becuase i cant spend 5+ hours playing.

I started playing EQ about 2 weeks after it came out and man was it so much fun, I Played for about 3 years before i had to quit but came back and quit again I think i quit like 7 times but i keep coming back.

I played daoc, horizons, linage 2,planet side,AC,matrix,EQ2,COH,COV,AC2, and some others but my favorite has always been EQ1 ohh I am playing D&D online and having fun .

If only EQ 2 was like everquest  maybe i would still be playig that now

I am hoping Vanguard is like what EQ used to be

Our doubts are traitors and make us lose the good we oft might win, by fearing to attempt

I hear ya, but...

So much of what made EQ fantastic was the genre was new. We didn't know what to expect. We didn't have high hopes, we just had fun exploring. I remember opening day of EQ1, it was crazy with crashes and bugs and yet I remember smiling ear to ear with every minute that I was able to stay logged in (which wasn't many! lol ) I was a troll shaman and i finally closed my eyes and held my breath and darted across the oasis dodging gators and giants and spectres and finally arrives in North Ro. I then parked my butt at the tunnel entrance in the commons and not one person ran past me without stopping to look at the fat troll in the tunnel! It was a blast! Nowadays it's almost like a race to the finish.. nobody seems to care about the little things anymore... nobody wants to smell the flowers :(

In order to recreate that feeling (and have it last) we'd need to have our memories wiped so that we could enter a game (be it Vanguard or anything else really) with no preconcieved notions of how these games are suppose to be, and then we could simply live in our bliss of discovery once again.

I remember the first time I seen an ogre player It was near crushbone everyone was so in aww of him he was being followed by a group of people even i followed becuase i never seen one only in the char creation screen, EQ was the best

And the cool thing about it was that some  mobs didnt care how tough or what level you where if they hated your kind they attacked which made some areas hard becuase you had to deal with them

I didnt like the changes they made in EQ2 with the classes but the graphics where awsome but wasnt enough to keep me playing

No man is an island.. (who wants sand fleas?)

Laughing very hard as I reminisce about the terror of running thru Kithicor at night, so I know how you feel.  I still play both, but I am not a hardcore gamer, I play to play and explore still.  Come back, the EQ beckons!

Good luck and good gaming.  Cheers!

Yeah, Everquest was great.

My character was a level 32 Paladin Froglok, by the name of Legacy. I remember, the level requirement for Heart of The Black Dragon (a guild) was 70+, but i was very lucky one day. They decided to let me in when i got to lv 5, and ever since then i was with them

EVeryone came to love my character, and everyone was very nice to me. Often, i was offered PL's, but i was usally too busy helping newbies.

Although, one day i was grounded from my computer. And like always, i got on anyways. My dad found out and deleted my character, over 100+ hours of hard work.

Sometimes, i think about going back. I know all my friends are still there waiting. I just dont know if I should or not. And everytime i try, i end up quitting again.

If only my girlfriend would play it with me, id definently keep interest.

I remember my first character was a Dark Elf Necromancer. Nektulos forest was such a wierd place to get into the game. There was an ogre warrior named Fattie that ran all the way from the ogre swamp because he liked the Dark Elf territory better, and he would always be in character. Any time he logged on he sent a message across the zone proclaiming 'Fattie here.' I don't know why it cracked me up so much.

Eventually another new player directed me to 'the log' and I learned what SOW meant when an Ogre shaman cast it on me there.

...then there was the Troll female that hit on everyone, that's just disturbing in so many wonderful ways.
