Chris McKibbin - the Co-Founder of Perpetual Entertainment and the company's President - and Design Manager Stieg Hedlund answer our questions about the game's core features, what happened during the blackout and their relationship with Sony Online Entertainment.

MMORPG.com: With the announcement of your deal with Platform Publishing, many of our readers were instantly concerned. What role will Platform/SOE play in the development and maintenance (post-launch) of Gods & Heroes?

Chris McKibbin: We are very excited about working with SOE Platform Publishing. As to how the relationship works, Perpetual is funding, producing, developing and operating G&H. This means that we handle everything internally, from running the live team, hosting the game servers, account services/billing, to technical support, and working with the community. SOE Platform Publishing handles retail marketing, PR, manufacturing, and our North American distribution. They bring an incredibly experienced marketing, PR, manufacturing, and distribution team to the table that helps to put more copies of the game on the shelves in more locations around North America.

Normaly I wouldn't be interested in a Roman Mythology Game, just because they're so overdone but it seems like the Devs realy worked hard to bring innovation to it. This looks like a game to watch :)

Intriguing. But I'm very, very skeptical they will release this fall. Hopefully they can get beta up and rolling this year.

I guess I'm a little pesimistic on this.  Attachment of the "SOE" logo in any shape or form warrants enough threat for me to stay away.  While SOE is not performing development the interview they are handling marketing.
SOE did an extremely terrible job in marketing Star War Galaxies.  The NGE (New Game Enhancements) are an oxymoron in its self and were a joint affair between Lucas Arts -and- Sony Online Entertainment.  The NGE was generated through marketing data geared to put more copies in the hands of fans.  It was terribly implemented and unplayable.  They were upwards of 160k-220k est subcribers prior to the NGE and now are floating around 40k-60k est.  Well, if you're not aware of SWG let me tell you...avoid it!!!
I hope the best for Perpetual although I must admit I'll be stearing away from this title.  I hope they have a hit on their hands.  ;)
Yes, I realize SOE's publishing division is handling distribution and not development.  It's the marketing aspect of Perpetual being force fed (no pun intended) a crazy idea by SOE that "You must do -this- to generate more sales!" that concerns me.
Funny thing is SOE did not publish Star Wars Galaxies, Lucas Arts did.
Being cautious is not paranoia.

If it makes you feel better, their feature list is virtually unchanged from last summer before the SOE deals were signed.

i'm with Mindspat on this.
SOE wrecked a somewhat buggy but playable SWG and made some WoW clone out of it.

i just hope things stay like McKibbin described them and SOE only does marketing

this game seems to be revolutionary

the possibility to lead 8 npc in a mmorpg is a great and real new idea

the graphics are very beautifull

take your time to finish the game for a good game like Gods and Heroes im happy to wait.

a question what about the European Servers?

you go make:

-English,French,and German servers

-or only English server for all the europeans

a lot of people in europa dont speech english or just a little bit like me

I think its a good idea to make different linguage version of the game like this the people dont speech english can play Gods and Heroes. (more players = more money for you = better game and service for us i know that.

sorry for my english i hope people understand what i say.

Pliz make a french version for Gods and Heroes.

About a year ago I came across this game and thought "wow, what a wonderful concept" it was just what I was looking for.  I continued to play other MMORPGs to pass the time... Then, it was like the game disappeared... No new development, no nothing really.  So, I thought it must have been shelved and felt sad for I should never experience this game... And a shaft of light shined from the heavens and SOE stepped in.  My god was I happy to hear that!  Now I should mention I never played SWG, so for those that feel SOE butchered the job, well I can't comment on that. However, SOE and EQ2, well that is an incredible game.  At least compared to DAOC and err Shadowbane, oh and EVE, but that is altogether different.  First off, I do like DAOC for the RvR aspect, but hands down EQ2 is one the most interactive MMORPG on the market and the graphic, ahhh the graphics are superb.  So, before y'all SWG ex-players bash SOE, give EQ2 a try and then come back and see if your feeling for SOE have at least changed somewhat, although you can still secretly bash them for the SWG thing in some dark corner of your mind, but keep a bright shiny outlook for the Exciting, the Innovative, and the Daring.... GODS AND HEROES... marking by SOE..

Wise move Chris!  It looks that this title and Star Trek  on-line will not suffer from the ill reputation that SOE is known for .  I feel sorry for the ill fated " Vanguard: Saga of Heroes who have choosen to be bed partners on SOEs all access pass. It's doomed.
