Ive never played WoW but the 30 or so SWG friends of mine have and love it.
CoH is pretty good, much to do as far as Task Force missions, PvP zones, the new clubs, and so on. Yes, I agree the old SWG, the ORIGINAL UNIQUE SWG was the best, and I miss it greatly. |

If this rumor is true , then I will be the true test case. If I can reclaim my accounts then I will belive. If I can not , well let's just say I have a lawyer on retainer.

Well if this rumor ever did come true SOE would prolly love to release your accounts to Bioware Jestor....that way you can run amuck again and cause all hell for Bioware like you did for SOE...just would be SOE's way of getting back at LA for pulling the plug on them We have enough Youth, How about a Fountain of Intelligence? |

Even if Bioware bought the SWG License they aren't going to release classic SWG - it'll be a totally different game most likely with totally different architecture/coding to take into account the new technologies that have appeared since SWG was released in addition to their new gameplay mechanics.
If Bioware did buyout the rights to SWG they probably did so with a caveat to keep it quiet until much closer to the release date, which wouldn't be for at least 2 years anyway. In the mean time LEC is still making some money off SWG and if Bioware announced a new SWMMO right now how many people do you think would stick around in SWG until they released. I'm thinking most people would say "F8ck this" and cancel which would take a ton of money out of LEC's pockets. One way or another we wont hear any major announcements from Bioware for some time, until they have something decent to show the public. The only reason we heard anything at all is because they had to announce their new MMO division for hiring purposes. I'm sure there will be another SWMMO eventually, it's just too profitable a product NOT to make, but I'm still not sure if Bioware will be making it. Time will tell. ========== |

Gee I Hope that SOE legal is paying attention. There will be no small claims this time if SOE dares to slander me to Bioware or any other company. I think they know better but not much more then that. |

Im not sure SOE would sell the rights to a game with 200k subs ? Just doesnt seem ethical businesswise, but Im not a corporate dillhole so Im no expert lol, now maybe....after the nge like oh i dunno say around NOW then they may sell the rights or have but pre cu selling? I also recall many posts on the official forums where LA/SOE stand together in the hosting and creation so on blah blah blah of SWG so again this news just doesnt sound right. As for bioware...if I recall one or more of those devs or whatever did baldurs gate...:/ But I will admit that some of what your saying sounds like Biowares ways, like huge funding and taking time to get it done right ect... ill say this though... if bioware bought or is going to attain the rights to swg and redo the whole shabang? COUNT ME IN !!! I'll be one of the first to sub, install, log in and have a look then be right back here with what I see. ;) |

I heard this rumor too, if it is true it should be good SOE had an acceptable game in SWG, but jedi revamp and CU wrecked the game. Bioware going pre-CU great idea...Bioware are already better than SOE and they will hopefully know what us Pre-CU players loved and want back out of SWG.

BS...Let's look at this logically.
LA owns the IP rights to Star Wars and Star Wars alone. SOE owns the code for the game, Pre-cu, CU, and NGE. Bioware would have to buy the IP from Lucas, and the Pre-cu code from SOE. I MIGHT be able to see this if a MMO company bought the rights to both and resumed development, but a company like Bioware with no MMO experience? No way... On the other hand, let's say Bioware wanted to buy the SW license for use in a new SW MMO. This is possible because the development time on a new MMO would be about 4 years, or about the time SWG would normally be closing its doors. But would Bioware really want to make another Star Wars game? They've already done two of them and besides, they've already stated that this MMO will be of their own IP. So no new Star Wars game from Bioware in my opinion. |
