My wife and I are returning to DAoC (picking up our Epic boxes today  ) and we're thinking of starting on the classic servers.  We left because of ToA, and although abandoning our old toons on regular servers is hard, we remember the "good old days" of early DAoC.

We are loyal Hibbies and have played most classes there.  We're all about RvR with as little PvE as possible to get there.  I've got my eye on a Vamp to start out with and she's the loving healer model so it will probably be another druid for her.  From what I've read, this duo will do well for PLing ourselves and perhaps some other alts in PvE.

I see that Vamps are pretty nice as RvR toons as well, but I lean more towards tank or stealth for my RvR pleasure.  Which toons are best out of those two types?  I had tons of fun with my original Hero and multiple Nighshades in the past.  Are these still viable choices?  And how has RvR changed in the past year or so?  Are mini-zergs and small (4x4) groups still popular or is it all 8v8 or solo?

Thanks in advance for any help.

"She turned me into a newt!" "A newt?" "....I got better....."

Hero I believe was the main warrior of hibby land that got some new tricks up his sleeve so he would be alot more compatible with your wife's druid.  With a vamp she wouldn't be ablke to do much else than heal ya (vamps can't be buffed) while you tank everything in sight.

If you think you can sacrifice a few buffs then I would mention a bard instead which will give you baseline buffage along with healing and speed and mezz intead of snare.

The tricks I was mentioning for the hero are on the 1.81 patch notes if you wanna look them up but take my word they rock.

Also as of late the nightshade has gotten much luvin from mythic so really look into that.

Good luck

In peace there''s nothing so becomes a man as modest stillness and humility.
-William Shakespeare-

New Hero Triks are Resist buffs for group members as well as Climb walls. A taunt shout for PvE will help get those mobs off your girl.

I recommend the Druid (Split spec Buffs/Heals) duo for your Hero (BM might be better)

For the Vamp, a bard is the best for End song. End is what keeps the vamp running since attacking a target gets you power for your abilities and without End you have no attacks or power. Are Bard also allows you to choose a vamp spec besides SM. Go VE for great RVR fun you can fumble oponents and see stealthers. You can eliminate high SM spec if you run with your bard.
Shadow mastery gets you a heal and speed buff. A bard has these already. A bard will add to your RVR with mezzes etc.

Vampiiric Embrace is a great line to go for.

Try this spec: 43P, 41VE, 28SM
not the best or only, but a good start.

Only buffs a vamp gan get (that are usefull) are Damage Shield and AF. A druid wont add as much to your VAMP as your Hero.
