Making the announcement that Bioware was in charge would HELP subscription numbers. They knew that the NGE would HURT subscription numbers, which is why they put off announcing it until the last minute...to keep people paying as long as possible. In other words, LucasArts has no reason to deny the rumor (unless it's not true), and every reason to confirm it. |

I would pay to see that.... you should create an internet site and do a Pay-Per-View live, record it, then sell access to the recording. |

"BioWare Corp. is the developer of the award winning Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic, Neverwinter Nights, Baldur's Gate 1 & 2, Shadows of Amn, Tales of the Sword Coast, MDK2, Shattered Steel, and the recently released Jade Empire, as well as the current developer of the upcoming sci-fi action RPG, Mass Effect." http://www.bioware.com/bioware_info/jobs/positions/austin_lead_world_designer.html Sorry guys! Looks like it's called "Mass Effect" It's for Xbox http://masseffect.bioware.com/ |

Well Mass Effect isn't the game they want devs and designers for. They are looking for people for a MMO

Yes, Bioware is developing a new MMORPG. They've posted a want ad for the lead world designer here: http://www.bioware.com/bioware_info/jobs/positions/austin_lead_world_designer.html Now, one sentence CLEARLY stands out in that job posting: "Familiarity with fantasy role-playing games is a must. " And I think that pretty much finishes off the idea that this is the new Star Wars MMO. |

I will say, that the NGE had almost no warning save 1 post on the SOE Jedi forums. It was an insider leak that was posted almost 6 weeks before the NGE hit. It described every detail of the NGE down to the finest detail. Everyone horse laughed the guy. They said he was crazy...HE WAS RIGHT! |

(“WE” OR “SOE”) OFFERS YOU ACCESS TO AN ACCOUNT (THE "ACCOUNT") AND THE SERVICE TO ALLOW YOU TO PLAY THE STAR WARS GALAXIES: AN EMPIRE DIVIDED ONLINE FANTASY ROLE PLAYING COMPUTER GAME AND ITS EXPANSION PACK(S) (THE "GAME"). I still think they are denying it because they want to get everything in place before they announce anything. But that is just me. Pepi Deto |

Mass Effect is a single player action RPG, and most definitely not MMO. What's interesting (and a bit unfortunate) is because of the focus of development for Mass Effect, the development for NWN2 (which looks amazing btw) got sent to Obsidian. That's not terrible, but KOTOR2: Sith Lords didn't live up to it's predecessor.. so I'm a little skeptical. Hopefully NWN2 lives up to the original. Anyway, the MMO project is a giant-sized offshoot of BioWare totally unrelated to Mass Effect. BTW it looks like it could be an interesting game... -- xpaladin [MMOz] |

may I speak here, although I feel the pain from you guys, quite acutely I might add since I am gameless atm. What you have to understand is that you can't recreate the past. Have you ever tried to get back with an old girlfriend after and extended absence? you remember all the good stuff and none of the bad, and even if you manage to get back with her, it just isn't the same thing. Even if they were to create a swg deux, or classic server etc. many of us would flock to it for a second and then log after just a little while, I guarantee this. SOE probably knows it as well. So cherish the memories we had and keep searching as I am for a new game that can give some fun and memories. Different kinda fun but fun nonetheless. Beel |

You definitly have a point there. After NGE came out, I started playing Guild Wars. I left GW to go play WoW with the rest of my guild/friends. After they left WoW, I went back to GW. I play/played for a while but just can't get back into it. Despite some of my friends/guild are now checking GW out. But, I will say that a lot of us possibly may not need another SWG game, we want the same stuff it gave us. For instance, how many games out there can you change your profession and not have to make a new character? My main profession was Squad Leader, yet, I changed from rifles to pistols to carbines then back to rifles. To me that made an excellent game, you could do whatever you wanted but not have to make a new character to do it. I can't speak for the others, but I want to find that again. Sure, I love SW, but I don't have to have another SW game, just one that I can keep one character and do whatever I want without having to make a new character each and every time I want to do something different. |

Everyone is hiring SOE employees. There has to be about a half dozen MMOGs followed by MMORPG.com that have former SOE emplloyees in their dev team.
They brought out the NGE because the players whined so much about crap like "balance" and "fast combat" and of course because pre CU if you didn't cheat you couldn't compete so quit crying because we got what we asked for. |
