All these rumors flying around has made me think it will come down to this
This might be the case why SoE state it's "impossible" to reintroduce pre-CU system as it would not play well on console and it might even be so that the code has been "shipped" to the next developer for PC to look at This is just wild speculations anyway "There are two kinds of spurs, my friend. Those that come in by the door; those that come in by the window" |

Stcking a red hot poker up my bum would be more fun then that POS game. In the words of George Carlin: (Things you just never hear ppl say) Just as soon as I am done sticking this hot poker up my *** I am gonna take this knife out and lop my **** off!!! |

This certainly seems plausible enough. Ive been hearing that the new game guide supposedly coming out is for console (although ive heard many people including TH say that its a mistake. But then again so was the starter kit when Tiggs was CRM for sony) so who knows. I am still holding out ope that bioware or another good company gets the SWG code and does it right. Having access to a billion $ IP - Billions of dollars.. |

As with any rumor, seeing is believing. And whose to say that the SOE "defectors" going over to Bioware are not the ones who pushed for the CU idea in the first place. They might have been fired or left after it fell on its face (meaning the mass exodus of players). These "defectors" could just be creating a whole new monster that is even worse than the SWG in existance right now! But like any rumor, who knows... Edit: typos |

OK, folks, this is a no-brainer. I would assume Star Wars to be of equal popularity to World of Warcraft. WOW has 6 million suscribers! What is SWG down to now? Read this posted on Lucas Arts jobs page: Sr. Director of Online Gaming Business Unit
There's more to this description if you want to visit the site: http://www.lucasarts.com/jobs/descriptions/?ID=20060213_dironline Hope this gives new hope to those disenfranchised gamers. Maybe the new SWG will be worth trying. |

Didn't that job go to Nancy McIntyre? I thoguht she was the Senior Marketing person at Lucas Arts now? I do think it is going to be that way that SOE will continue with SWG on the console and that Bioware will be making the PC version. SOE is using this NGE version to test the console and fine tune it then like it says above cut off all other platforms and just have console while Bioware makes the PC version which I hope will be like the Pre-CU. It sounds good to me and I have a strange feeling that is what is going on. I mean why else would Bioware set up in Austin? I hope if they do this that Bioware will port over the db and all characters and items, etc so that way the veterans who quit in the first place won't feel aliented like they did when SOE destroyed the game. 1) Wrong. 2) Wrong. 3) OOH! YES! That has to be it! Because yet ANOTHER development studio opened up in Austin, they HAVE to be taking over SW:G! OOOH AND DONT FORGET THEY HIRED TO FORMER EMPLOYEES OF SOE!!!! That's definately it, because you just know they wouldn't EVER work in the MMO business again, and ESPECIALLY not on anything SWG related! I mean, come on APPLE is in Austin, so they HAVE to be taking over SW:G! Wait. NCSoft has an office there!!! SWEET!!! ITS NCSOFT!! They have two former devs from SOE also!!! woOT!!! Er. Wait a minute....TURBINE IS IN AUSTIN!!! THEY ARE TAKING OVER SW:G!!!! Tiggs works there!!! YAY!! Tiggs is back working for SWG!!!! Hang on. Um. Wolfpack Studios is in Austin, too!!! So is UbiSoft!!!! And IBM!!! And DELL!!!! COOL!!! DELL WILL GIVE US FREE COMPUTERS TO PLAY SWG!!! WOOOOHOOO!!!! And Motorola will be doing it all wireless!!! JUST FOR SW:G!!! I mean, really, why else would they be in Austin?!?! Wait...Brandon Reinhart (GreenMarine) and Gary Gattis (JustG) work for Spacetime Studios!!! They used to work for SW:G preCU!!! SO COOL!!! SPACETIME STUDIOS (which is in partnership with NCSoft, btw) WILL BE TAKING OVER SW:G AND MAKING IT PRECU!!! ALL BECAUSE THEY ARE IN AUSTIN!!! YIPPEEEE!!!! In other words, WRONG. 4) Sure, that will happen. |

Good luck with that. First, lets speak an a COMPLETELY hypothetical sense: If SW:G was being taken over by another company, the number of people that know this are so high up on the food chain, that they KNOW not to say anything. And the lawyers that are doing the paperwork part of it will never say a word (confidentiality, and all that). Noone outside the top echelon of management would know. Noone. Second, Austin is home to HUNDREDS of development studios. Its been that way since the dotcom explosion in the early 90's. |

Seriously, no ones taking over SWG. No company is that stupid. I just can't believe Bioware (since that's who everyone is saying is allegedly taking over) is stupid enough to take a game that's been pretty much gutted not to mention the sheer bugginess of the game. It's obvious the documentation on the code is shit. SOE is gonna keep SWG hanging on as long as people keep paying for it and/or getting the station pass. I know I know, it's hard to image anyone would pay to play it, but people do so SOE will keep it running. End of story. Join me in my epiphany. |

Now just a damn minute. I agree with what your saying but a majority of my crew, (we are many) don't wish for SWG to be awesome again, we know it will. Now before you roll your eyes, here's what I mean: The universe of Star Wars will be awesome again for those who wish to persue it. Meaning, in another game setting, everyone pretty much agrees that this was a bad time period to set it in. They need to go back in the era of Kotor or advance so we can fight the Vong. either way, we'd be happy. The issue at hand is all the damn jedi. Everyone wanted to be a "leet" jedi so they could play with a ligthsaber and talk like a fortune cookie in RP. Thats fine and dandy you do that I have nothing against you at all (well aside from you leeters out there, you know who you are, your reading this now if you have the ability to read rational writing and considering replying, but wrestling is coming on so your gunna flip a coin) but the idea of having 4 out of five people being jedi or bounty hunter related turns this into BF:SWG, thats not what we wanted when we begged for this 7 to 12 years ago. we wanted a RP enviroment with action we could do when and if we wanted to. Period. The rest of you came along for the ride, like a passing fad, came in and whined that it wasn't fast enough or it took too long to get into, that you wanted jedi and you wanted to fight PVP all the time and you destroyed us becuase you all convinced your parents or your roomates to subscribe you for six months so you could "hang out and stuff" in this "really cool star wars game". Well you, like man does, came in, deflowered everything, burned our trees, destroyed our culture and moved on, now we have nothing but a shell of what we originally wanted. I hate to sound like Agent Smith talking to Neo here but I'm right. Thats all for now. Go back to your fighting. <bows> -Mastermind |

I was never a jedi and I never wanted to be one. That's first. Second, to assume that somehow me and many of the other people here somehow rode your coattails because you wanted this 7 - 12 years ago is nuts. Another thing is I never ever said (nor any of my friends that played since BETA) we wanted a faster paced game. I do admit the timeline needed to be moved forward a long time ago. But with expansion after expansion of crap from the new movies being force fed to the community. It was obvious SOE had/has no direction. Many of my friends who left were part of a huge RP community so I take offense to the fortune cookie RP comment. Oh and you aren't right. You're only your opinion. Thank you. You may go back to being self righteous. |

Ask yourself why did so many people become jedi? reason being most of them in that 2 1/2 years have tried most if not all combat professions. There was no basic free content added to the game. All the caves, and dungeons if you can call them that bar DWB and the CV were exactly the same and offered no challenge. The expansions were crap, they introduced the wookie planet yet it was linear you had no freedom to explore the world like that other planets. Some people got bored waiting for various profession revamps to take place and just did Jedi for the sake of it. Others had no interest in the other aspects of the game such as crafting so Jedi was the only remaining content they had. Now ask yourself after considering all this who is to blame? Both of you don't seem to grasp what I'm meaning for jedi. Jedi are fine, hold a lottery, every 1,000 people get aslot, that would work, we know some jedi made it out. But this, right now, is absolutely farking crazy. You can't SPIT without hitting a jedi, and most of them aren't even RPing it. Thats the thing, if they RPed it properly instead of being the pvpers they are at the shuttleports, it would be fine, but no, they have to run around with no regard for the timeframe, becuase they thought "the movie was cool" o.- I was here since launch and I'll be here till it's over, just to watch things completely and utterly collapse. Now, if your wanting to throw another analogy on self stimulation, by god thats your given right, as is my right to voice my own opinion, you want to censor me, TRY IT, I've dealt with worse then you....PVPers, Noobs to the timeline, CU, NGE, Starter kits no one buys :P So let's stop this, and get down to the real issue. From what I've heard, a former Dev from the company has stated that he jumped ship becuase the game was shutting down, wether sony wanted it or not, on June 6th 2006. So let's fight over that scrape of intel for a while. :P regards, -Mastermind |

Bioware is not taking over Star Wars Galaxies. SOE has denied this. However, what's MORE important is that LucasArts has ALSO denied this. LucasArts has also denied that they're working with Bioware on some future Star Wars MMO. And as for the game being ported to the PS3? Highly possible. Note the "Sony" in SOE, and the "Sony" in Sony PlayStation 3. The PlayStation 2 couldn't handle any of SOE's games, but the PS3 should have more than enough juice to do so. I'm not saying it WILL happen, but I am saying it's a darned strong possibility. But even if they do that, they're not going to shut down the PC client, because that would be, well, stupid. |

SOE and Lucas Arts also denied the existence of the NGE until 2 weeks before it went live. Don't take them on their word as they have both lied before. Pepi Deto |
