Yes - it is pessimistic me. I don't believe that it is possible to develope good MMORPG under LA's watchful and greedy eyes. Good luck Bioware - you are REALLY going to need it. I am not going to be first one who is going to buying another LA game. I hope that Bioware doesn't mess up their good image with this one.

I agree with the post above me.

SOE sucks beyond all comprehension, however, LA and (George Lucas in particular) have done more harm to the Star Wars franchise than SOE ever could.

But in my eyes, SOE is still a shit company who'se largly at fault here. I'm happy knowing (if true, i'm still not quite a beiiever) that SOE gets the emberassment of having a license dropped from them. I get satisfaction by their emberrasment. I want to twist the knife and pour salt in SOE's wounds, just like they did with my fucking toon for all these months.

Anyway, I really want to question something here... and that is the wisdom of LA staying with SWG-- just 'updating' it (yet again). A new 'upgrade' isn't the answer, which is what supposedly is happening. Personally, i'm never going back. I've found something else to fill my time now (EVE). Unless the MMO is COMPLETLY and TOTALLY new I don't think I'll sub. It needs to be fresh for people to want to come back... the current game is rotten to its core.

Seriously, at this point it's unfixable.... and whatever is salvagable is pointless since the game will be so old by the time everythings fixed it's not going to be a shining jewel on the MMO market no matter how much polish is put on it. Not even BIOWARE/PANDEMIC can pull this off, and I think they are probably the most talented company in the business right now (top 3 at lest). They are also competent and I think they would know this.

The NGE took, what, 6 months? 9 months to make? And they hardly added anything! In fact, they took a bunch of shit AWAY, more content went out with the NGE than in. Can you believe it? It took 6 months just to TAKE CONTENT AWAY. Oh, i'm sorry, we got a 35 level quest line that is so mediocre i'm embarrassed to even play it.

I mean, assuming Feb was when a deal was inked then that means the end of summer at the earliest for something to be completed.... but we all know there's 3 times the work involved since they have to convert the expansions to fit whatever is changed.... meanwhile SOE will still be making publishes changing things even more... further complicating the process.

I guess the point i'm trying to make here is... i'm not sure if I believe this rumor because the logic just seems too backwards. The game will still suck. BIOWARE/PANDEMIC doesn't have the best relationship with LA and I can't for the life of me understand WHY they would take this project on.... it's a loser. It's professional suicide. No one in the industry wants it... BIOWARE/PANDEMIC especially wouldn't want it.

UNLESS it's a completly new Star Wars MMO with absolutly nothing to do with Galaxies then I can understand.... but SWG 1.75? I fully believe LA wants to do this, but BIOWARE/PANDEMIC?

But also we need to see, that Lucas did that because the game wasnt the one (numbers) Lucas wanted to see, thats why they started to change things.

For me, the pre-CU sandbox was never the problem, it was the inbalance and the massive amount of bugs, the bad customerservice did the rest.

If Bioware is able to bring back some kind of a pre-CU game with exactly the fixes the game needs, get rid of the gazillion bugs and offer a service worth to pay for, LEC might not even step up even.

I hope it will turn out this way, assuming the rumour to be true anyway.

I always said:
Even SWG rolled back by SoE wont get my money again, the company is a liar, a bad experience and no way im paying money to them again ever.

I would go back to SWG if another company get a hold of it.

The most horrid thing that could happen is, that the customer gets aware that SoE is out.

Imagine:
Publish postings, hotfixes, ideas, threads about fixes, content etc etc etc:
All ZILCH !

If someone official would say now "It's true" - from THAT verys moment on SoE would be a Zombie just waiting for the silver bullet.

And the game would immediatly lose the last subscriptions.

* They are looking to hire 25 DEVS with SWG Pre-CU experience in CODE WRITING (Confirmed by phone call to BIOWARE HR department by me)

14600 views in less than 24 hours and god only knows how many cross referenced sites. I kinda get the feeling that that so called 80% isn't in the game but rather lurking like the rest of us waiting for good news...

Even if it isn't true - the attention alone ought to show the powers that be something. People want change. System, ownership or entire game-wise - there is a rather large audience standing outside the door with wallets in their hand waiting for something to give. People bot for and against literally clamor over themselves when any bit of news about this Flying Dutchman comes out. Be it rumor, fact or just hope.

not defending soe here but you are all celebrating like this guys one single post is the exact truth, and realistically none of you have any concrete proof , just a lot of ifs and buts and maybes and coincidences, fair enough hoping for it but dont start celebrating its demise yet simply from one single forum post. Without actual proof this is like me goign to the cops and pointing out a random person saying

I have read most of the post, and i think most of us is "hoping" not celebrating, though
just the thought about SOE lose the rights and a "new" swg is on a horizon makes ppl

Just remember that LA pulled the CU that was in Alpha and forced the CU we got at basically the last minute. LA also drove the NGE.

LA calls the shots so if Bioware takes over the liscense just look for the same 'ol same 'ol. AND LA (Ms. MacIntyre) has already stated that the original SWG was TOO Difficulet and had TOO much reading. If any, look for a more console game set in an MMO atmosphere...

LA pulled the license from SOE. The rumors about February were dead right. SOE was allowed time to transition players (how much is unknown) to their other station pass games. Thats why they stopped selling SWG prepaid cards.

Publish 28, if it gets done will be the last publish to the game. There is a minimal support staff now working on it. Its purely cosmetic changes to keep existing players subscribing

Bioware did indeed gain rights to develop a second version of SWG. It wont be called SWG2. Its not a completely new game but rather a reworking of existing code. Bioware is currently hiring a large team to work on the game and prefer experience with SWG. Pre-cu is a plus

The focus groups information was handed basically directly to Bioware. Some of the questions, like a KOTOR experience were hints to you folks as to who was behind it.

My source  or sources only stated what they know. They didnt speculate on how long development would take. No clue on the rumors if its tied into a television show. No clues on pre-cu, cu, etc. And finally, no clue on an announcement or what SOE will say about this.

I trust this source's info 100%. Believe what you will but it looks like SOE's tyranny is over

Well if this mob do take over we still have to deal with LAE and they are just as bad if not worse than SOE . I hate SOE with a passion for their handleing of us and their lies but I still feel LAE had a lot more to do with what the game was like that anyone gives them credit for.

You cannot hold what one person said against an entire company.  Yes she said it.  But that was also when the NGE first came out.  Lucas Arts could have seen how much this has stirred up and want to save their reputation so they are going back on what they did.  It would be a good move but I don't think that they had as much to do with the NGE as people think.  I think SOE was the main factor behind that and they convinced JT then he convinced those at Lucas Arts.  When was the last time we heard anything from JT anyway?  I seriously think that Lucas Arts sees what this game has become and are trying to save it.  They, unlike SOE, want to please their customers and it seems like they are willing to admit they made a mistake if they were as involved as you say they were.
