Just recently I was looking on www.play.com for a new MMORPG, I stumbled across a copy of AC2! I was thinking what on earth?! Surely they can not sell it!?

Does anyone know how they could get away with it, I would have thought they look into the fact that the game is not available anymore? :S

(well I thought I would share my little observation with you :P)

I'm not surprised.

Turbine recalled all the boxes before the closure announcement. Not all stores returned the boxes and kept them to try to make a buck.

Direct2Drive sells a copy of EVE Online, which you can just download.

That’s BS.  We have been over this before.  Store owners get there money back for recalled software.  turdbine is comprised of a bunch of incompetents who are incapable of doing a full recall, plain and simple.

Store owners get there money back... DUH

However, if you were a store owner would you want to go through the effort of sending the stock back and not making a profit? Or perhaps you could just leave the games on the shelf and make a profit? the answer is obvious, don't send it back and make money.

Also consider that store owners probably have no idea that the game is closing, they just know it's been recalled. Do you really think the store owners keep up with all the games? No, they run a business they don't give a crap about happenings with the games.

True they do sell the boxed version but the boxed version comes with a cd-key that allows 30days of play time. If you download the client and buy a subscription you will pay just as much as if you buy the box. There is no difference to whichever process you choose but you do get a manual and such with the boxed game.

You are a moron if you think a store owner or a supervisor would rather sell a product that they know is going to get returned by an angry customer instead of just sending it back to the manufacturer for a refund.  You think they want that kind of headache?

You are right about at least one thing, they don’t give a crap about what’s going on with a game, BUT they do give a crap about where the customers make there purchases.  They want to keep them happy, and they know selling recalled software is not going to keep there customers happy.  That is obvious.  If you go someplace and they sell you a rotten apple odds are good you won’t go back the next time you want an apple.  Store owners know this.

That’s not the same.  They are selling the CD’s for the convenience of people who don’t have broadband or just don’t want to download it.  You can purchase variation of Linux on CD that you can download for free also.  Mandrake is one.

You are so trusting AzRaell. You really think stores value customers that much? I don't think so.

It isn't true for all stores but just look at the recent Xbox 360 sales at Best Buy. Certain stores forced people to buy bundles so they could make more money. They didn't care about what the customer wanted.

Not to mention Best Buy's crappy return policy. I've had completely unopened items and they won't take them back because I threw out the reciept. They won't take it back because they again don't want to lose money. IT'S ALL ABOUT MONEY NOT THE CUSTOMER.

And no it's not just Best Buy, it's most stores. I just use Best Buy as an example because I and most others deal with them frequently. I never goto EB or GameStop because of their crappy PC game selection.

You should have kept the reciept, they would have given your money back no problem.  There is good reason they make you show proof of purchace and it has to do with people scamming them not about you getting your $2 back.

They can't force you to buy anything.  If a bundle is all they had left then that's all they got, you don't want it don't buy it.  You think they should open a package of CDRW's and sell you one because that's all you wanted?  Stop crying if you don't like the way they treat you then don't shop there.

You need to quit whinning about Turbine becuase they cancled the game. Never buy a Turbine game and never visit these forums again because you are annoying.

You have no idea what happened at Best Buy either. They had individual Xbox's on the day of release. But they knew demand was going to be high so they told anyone who wanted one would have to buy a bundle of games and crap. Best Buy eventually allowed people to return the bundles and keep the things they wanted because of all the bad press they got.

Also they don't want to get scammed? How about we just start searching people on their way out of the store to make sure they don't steal.

What was that?  Bad press?  You mean when they found out they screwed up and made some customers mad they tried to correct it to make the customers happy again?  Sounds a lot like what I been saying.
