You mean DDO? Then no, you do not roll dice. The game works just like WoW or EQ, etc. You just click to swing your weapon or fire your bow. The game rolls the dice for you.

Rolling of dice is your chance to hit or how much damage you do.

In the game, DDO rolls the dice for you.

Example: You need a 10 or higher on a 20 sided dice. Thats a 50% chance to hit. So the game generates a randome number between 1 and 20 and if its >= 10 then you hit.

Then for damage, lets pretend you have a weapon that does 1d8 (1 dice with 8 sides) of damage. That means you can roll between 1 and 8. If you roll a 6, then you hit the monster for 6 points of damage.
