It doesn't matter anymore. You just go ahead and pick which one you like the look of best.

So... each species no longer have special moves/stats? Do the Wookiees and Ithorians still have to wear custom armor? Or can they wear any type of armor? If so, do they look different wearing armor than the other species(screens maybe)?

Wookiees, Trandoshans, and Ithorians still have special species-specific armor, AFAIK. The only exception that I've ever known is clone armor. Not sure if Ithorians could wear that or not...don't think so. I loved the bell-bottoms on Ithorian Jedi Padawan robes, btw! I've seen Wookiees wearing clone armor with fur sticking out, though. I've also seen Trandos with scaly feet visible through their clone boots. (Don't think either of these visual oddities were intended). When I started (pre-CU), all species had special areas of expertise. My Wookiee had greater than normal strength and could do a special "Wookiee Roar" that caused an area taunt. I used it more than once to pull rabid creatures off of a friend or troubled stranger. **Returned SWG player** |

When the patch notes said, some time after NGE; "All racials have been removed" is when I quit playing completely. They still haven't added it back though? With stuff like expertise, re-introduction of beast mastery and the like, I would have thought they came to their senses and put racials back long ago. Then again, I guess this is still SOE we're talking about... Guess it's great for the "balance whiners" though, seeing as each race is as strong/weak as the next, heh. |

The stats are said to make a comeback. Last month they were looking into it on giving all species some abilities. Haven't heard from it since then, hope it's part of the so called bug bash or the next chapter. But they talked about Wookiee Roar, Trando regeneration. and so on. |

I support the slow but steady re-integration of pre-NGE and pre-CU game elements. **Returned SWG player** |

I still have my suspicions SOE will pull the plug on poor old SWG, had figured it to be sooner rather than later though. All this reinstating old stuff seems suspicious. They're up to something surely <.< I mean, they can't actually have listened to their player base and realized things actually were good the way they were once... |

Had a look at the patch notes too, seems the races are built roughly how they used to be, stat-wise. Wonder how the racials (race-specific powers if you will) will turn out though. Always did like the Trandoshan regeneration... |

Horray for another step in the right direction (pre-NGE/CU) for the current Dev team!!! I'm still waiting for pre-NGE combat animations, 32(?) flexible professions, and skill trees, among other things....lol One of the reasons that I picked my Wookiee toon is because of the unique species stats. I clearly remember carefully considering each species' special attributes before creating my toon. **Returned SWG player** |

I still like my Wookiee. In making new toons nowadays, I care more about the personal story that I create for each toon I create. I think about what I want the toon to do...what I want them to be, and then try to see if a certain interesting species can fill that roll in a satisfying way for me. On Chimaera, I have 1 Wookiee elder Jedi, 1 Wookiee trader/crafter, and 1 new Bothan medic. The elder Jedi Wookiee, being pre-CUNGE obviously didn't start as a Jedi. I tried ranged, melee, and combos of medic and other skills. I finally went full Brawler/TKM/Swordsman and went in search of my own Force-sensitive path. I won't change that toon's prof. no matter what. My unlocked alt was created specifically to craft and make money. I didn't develop him much, and I wasn't sure about making him a Wookiee too...but I had a bio story in mind that would connect my 2 toons. Wookiees weren't necessarily the best crafters back in the day, according to their species-specific strenghts, but I felt that there was an absence of crafted Wookiee goods....so I thought maybe a Wookiee tailor to specialize in Wookiee clothing. That toon is now a structure crafter/trader, but I'm still thinking about changing to domestic tailor/trader. I honestly don't love crafting....so I use the toon more as a merchant than anything. I love running around with a human chef apron and chef hat though. People stop and comment all the time. It's pretty silly looking. My 3rd, I knew I didn't want to make another Wookiee. I thought Human was boring, Zabrak too angry/warrior-like, Trando also warrior-like and cold, Sullustan ugly, Mon Calamari...nah! Rodian just wasn't me. I basically don't like any lizard/amphibian types. Twi'lek, didn't really suit me, but I made a medic Twi'lek on my brother's server because his main was Twi'lek elder Jedi. I wanted to have his and my toon be brothers in game to match RL when I played there. Ithorian....I like. Strange creatures. I'll talk more about that in a sec. So....I chose a Bothan. I like that they're small, and have many fur color choices. I am VERY tempted to make him a spy (typical Bothan prof.) but he's a medic for now. Not super unique...he's furry like my other toons....but he can at least wear more humanoid clothes/armor. As for the Ithorian. A friend and famous player from the pre-CUNGE days on Corbantis played a unique Ithorian named B-funk. He was a tailor, but back before we were forced to go full combat in order to reach CL80, his tailor swung a mean Hammer! He knew how to take full advantage of armor, foods, buffs, spice, etc. He even took down some Jedi in PVP. My guess is that they were weaker or inexperienced Jedi...but he did it none the less. Before the NGE, I created an Ithorian on Bloodfin that I play from time to time. I did it at first just to see what it was like using that species. Didn't have a real plan for him. I decided to use it to experiment though, and he's currently a Dark Jedi. My Jedi on Chimaera is Rebel and uses all Light-side powers. I want to see what it's like using mostly Dark powers and trying to maximize a Jedi's strength. He's not fully leveled though...so it's still an on-going experiment. Whew! Didn't mean to write so much, but I thought it might help someone to see what this player's thoughts are about playing toons of different species. Best of luck in your selections! **Returned SWG player** |
