City of Heroes did it right and other games should follow suit. This is one of the best designs in mmorpgs hands down. Anything that adds to the ability of players being able to group with each other and have fun is a positive change in my opinion.

Would you guys support a change like this?

Forum Poll

Would you like to have a Sidekick/Apprentice option?

No, I think the game design is fine atm.
Yes, I would love this feature and the ability to group with higher level friends.

Sounds fun and interesting, but there should be beneficial limitations based on what and how I dunno.

Help me think....it hurts.

There is a system in place where lower level toons get benefits from higher level group leaders, so if you are ten levels lower, you have a chance at damageing mobs. But its not nearly as effective as the sidekick option in CoH/CoV. That system rocks. Would be nice to see something like a paige or aprentice system depending on what class you are assisting.

I can't see how this could be implemented without a major overhaul of the game...

CoH's combat/skill system is as simple as can be. you gain a power which would serve as your backbone for the rest of the game, very early in the game. and that's pretty much it. enchancements didn't make a difference as much as your levels, unlike DAoC.

In DAoC, your skills don't automatically improve once you level. you need to buy better ones. your equipment doesn't improve once you level. you need to buy better equipment.

To put it simple, CoH has one major factor(levels) and one minor factor(enhancements), which affect your strength. This makes the sidekick system effective, as it increases the one major factor.

DAoC, on the other hand, has many factors which affect your strength(levels, skills, equipment, RA's, MA's)
If you could find a good way to change at least the basic ones(levels, skills, equipment), to fit with the sidekick system, It might be a feature worth taking a look at.
