He that breaks a thing to find what it is has left the path of wisdom.

Probably Engineer, because you need some tradeskills for your robots.

Overall though, I understand that not much tradeskilling goes on until the later title levels or you'll be gimpy.

Yeah, back when I had my tradeskills going, I played an engineer. Like the last poster said, I waited until I was in the late 30s or 40s to start tradeskills. I've never tried a trader.... but I assume they would work? :p

Looking for a real game.

Traders are good trade skill profs too, it's just that they're not the easiest prof to play and really get to be group dependant down the line so you wouldn't level as fast an engi could. Although being group dependant plus using drains to boost your nano skills nicely it can mean more IP for trade skills since you're putting less into weapon skills (traders should buff, debuff, drain, calm and root rather than fight in groups). If you're a fr00b traders have buffs for most trade skills but SL gave engineers equivalent nanos (minus the lowest of the three variation of each). So traders aren't as high on the trade skill list as they used to be and that's why you see so many engis and not that many traders. Depending on your play style preferences they can be a fun prof and have wrangles which were much improved in SL, the only prof comp lit buffs (self only though) and get more money from trader terminals on sales but that's the only big things they have now. Although as far as both go what "the later title levels" mean is about level 150 when title level five starts and you have more IP to play with.

thanks all :)

i think ima go with engi since i dont like being group dependant
groups are good, but sometimes i just want to solo.
Also as you said engis level faster, and i could be crafting decent items if i put some time into it.
:)

Professional Lowbie

Engineer is best for crafting... but its always better with any profession to put off tradeskilling until higher lvls.
