for one the price that for sure. why should we pay for a game if there are free servers

The free servers are illegal and were never authorized, except the sakray servers on the official servers. They were developed using the hacked engine Aegis that they reverse engineered into a worse and more bug prone engine. This shouldn't happen so easily with Ragnarok Online 2 since Gravity upped there security and unless your a grade A hacker you won't be able to get the engine. |

that may be ture but people are going to make free servers and then they will tell their friends and then their friends will tell their friends and so on.so no matter what u do there will always be free serverand people will play on them no matter how illegal they are.

Dont forget about the lag spikes, server crashes, frequent wipes and the many bugs. |

not an official server, on private server my ping goes way above 500ms. On RO my ping is 15 and holds there. |

Ping is a term used to describe latency. Simply put it's the efficiency at which the server receives and sends information back to you. Crap server=high ping=sucky gameplay. Good server=low ping=good gameplay. Google it for a more exact definition. That was just off the top of my head.

...Almost correct, ping is dependent on DISTANCE to server AND if the server respons fast. If you connect to a server on the other side of the world you will get high ping no matter how good the server is. Server efficiency has nothing to do with ping (but the result could be bad ping because it doesnt respond fast enough). |

i played ragnarok for a long time but i quit cuz of my overupgrading ways and fail'n so much and losing so much money which was the only reason 2 stay on ragnarok 2 overupgrade :( but since i went broke i stopped. but the things i didnt like about it was the way GM's harrassed and even missed up woe and all the nerf's they did omg why nerf endure :( stopping hunters from being able 2 even hit mvp's? wtf is that about imean i know hunters got easy mvp's but making it impossible 2 hit mvp's is just stupid and the lag was awfull there was alot of lag probally the most lag ive ever seen on any mmorpg ragnarok was awesome when it 1st came out like in beta/alpha even though 2 many bots and hackors but now i think they missing everything up missing up skills that's another reason i quit even though priest was my favorite class and they got no really bad nerf's all other classes did another thing i didnt like is how wizards could level so fast way faster then melee unless u bought heal slave you didnt need much team work to level fast on ragnarok not even on majo's or stings and HO's just require'd a priest/wiz most of the other classes had to buy a heal slave if they wanted 2 level fast it should require better team work and not make the priest/wiz party so easy to level

There are actually private servers with better populations than the main servers now, and they're still way further ahead like before. It's strange that they're not getting put in check now, since they're even making profits off of them in the meantime. RO2 will be hacked just like every other game is, there are even WoW private servers now. I'll still look forward to playing it though. :P |

Gravity actually has a better security system then Blizzard does. They spent a fortune since the hack incident in 2001 nearly killed the company. Also I don't know where you guys get your info, but private server aren't way ahead of the main servers. They havent been way ahead since 2004. Most are on par with the main servers or worse. Only a few are passed them, and only by 1 update. Also alot of them are bugged to living hell. You guys should really look at the games before thinking the main RO servers are still in the Juno update or something ludicrus like that. Also the WoW private servers are alot different then the Official WoW servers, mainly since they were programed based on the game client, so the actual game is buggy and laggy. The servers are excessively unstable, and many of the mobs don't act properly. It isnt a true gaming experience. |

I am still paying for and playing on iRO, can make a prety accurate comparison. >> iRO is on the Ein update and still are yet to enable even half of the Trans class skills. I'm not sure how that's going to work out since, people who aren't aware will probably be a little upset if they don't get the opportunity to add them to their builds. The majority of the Private servers are only 1 update ahead, with all the skills. A few of them are enabling Homunculi and Taekwon classes and have gone as far as Hugel, those are the ones with the bugs you've heard about, i'm guessing, bugs usually just means that not everything with a description will necessarily work though. Probably because those things aren't even complete on kRO if i'm not mistaken. They'll always be ahead of iRO though, since almost everyone has always used files from kRO sakray. As for info, somebody already pointed out in another thread that mmorpg.com is displaying the link for the main RO p.server toplist here, for whatever reason. :| |

ive been plying a certain private servers lately, n that servere makes more money then the original ragnarok, ppl pay about $12 a month to play but in the private server the donation for items is highly in creasing ...ppl is paying around $20 to $50 just to get uber items, cards and zennys. Original Ragnarok= $750 in a month making Private sever= $1000-$2000 a month |

yes you too almost got it correct, but unfortuantly its not distance specific, but is primarily to do with how well the intermediate routers and remote server handles the ICMP packet, if there is a high volume of packets being routed via a router it will be queued and sent dependant on router priorities and queue length, and same applies to the remote server, after all a router is just a solid state computer that routes data if the CPU cannot handle the traffic, whats a router supposed to do :-) Good example is a routeping to google.com from europe is a 9 hop and gives a 28mS reply but a smaller ISP's web server that is 6 Hops away will probably be double that, and yes the server problems on home hosted server client games is the upstream is usually to narrow and so most of the packets are usually lost or queued so long they cause all sorts of rubber banding. |

Woah... They are making a profit? I thought that private servers that make money are the actual illeagal ones. From my understanding a private server was fine as long as you didn't 1)Promote it 2) turn a profit. But now private servers are making money... Not a good thing there... Siehst du mich |

I don't want to burst your bubble, but Kro has still millions of subscribers, and Iro still has a rough 40~50k subscribers. they make a lot more then $750 a month, add a few zero's behind that. and Private server $1000- 2000$ a month? what are you smoking? at least do some proper research. I'f played Kro, Iro and Private servers and PS's are only making a few $ each month. but not even close to $1000 $2000.
