What exactly is it that you don't like about it ? I love it because it gives me freedom to do stuff, I don't have to stay online to "level" up like in other games.

Infact I do see how bad things leveling up do to people, I got several friends that play WoW and they don't have social life at all... because they got to level up.

If EVE was anything like that I would not have played it.

The skill system in eve is the best there is in any mmo, u just have to have patience..
I can agree that training bs lev 5 can be a drag like no other, but in the end its worth it

Very true, I can understand where your coming from, it may seem like it is taking a while to advance i na game such as that. It seriously took me 8 months to be the miner R&D guy i would like to of been when i first started, but it all just takes time. The Beauty of eve is that you can be assured that someone can't just buy the game, grind to the top, get the best ship in 3 weeks, brag about the ship, blow everything up, and then post that the game is a newb game. This game is just like real life, slowly improves over time =p haha, just a thought on another way of looking at it.

The skill system if what I like about it. No need to spend days and days grinding up NPC so I can eventually get good enough to grind the next level of NPC. If you enjoy this then you are

People see real time in the skill system and it some how effects their perception, in seems longer than other MMOs when it is actaully pretty much on par if you stick to one speciality(unless you're an uber hardcore grinder), it's like sticking to one class. Took me 6 months to hit cap in WoW and when I reach 6 months in EVE I'll have all the skills I need to be pretty effective in an HAC.

Correct, I cant buy the game now, grind up in 3 weeks, and be competative.  Only somebody who has been subscribed for over 1 year can be competative and there is absolutely nothing I can do about it other then not play.  So therefore I will not play.

Thank god you can't "grind up" in EVE. Also - competitive with whom?

After a few days your character can be competitive with most traders.

After 2 to 3 months your character can be competitive with most miners.

After 2 to 3 months your character can be competitive to any frigate or cruiser pilot in combat.

YOU as a player can be competitive from day one.

When will people get that SP dont mean that much in EVE, as Levels in an other game. SP are there to make a rough estimate of a characters AMOUNT OF TRAINING TIME - but neither his competency with his skills nor his area of expertise.

And yes you *can* do something. Get into the game, understand it, and apply the things you learned, and most of all, show dedication. Yes, that means you have to "work" yourself through a lot of information at first, but then it won't matter how much SP you will have.
