Personal attacks? Against Smedley? But why? Are there really people who don't appreciate what he's done for us? |

I demand a full and immediate apology, I and my fellow arrogant little retards await your response! "Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience" |

I would guess some from SOE and Lucas Arts waved around there nerf bat and told this web site to get rid of any information that lets the customer get in contact. SOE never has liked dealing with the public or being responsible. They are masters at the marketing game and thats about it. That doesn't mean they are to blaim majorily for the state of SWG or its steady decline from the days Pre-CU when hundreds would PvP or Role Play all together with cities of 150 to 200 all over the map. Most of SOE's games are doing fine. The problem with SWG is that Lucas Arts is pulling the strings. Hollywood entertainment companies suck at gaming and should keep their market psychologists and marketers out of the gaming world. Lets programmers and gamers play and be proud of creating or participating in a great product. Lucas Arts and SOE had the best game ever created at one time. It was called Star Wars Galaxies. It had bugs, it wasn't perfect, but I have yet to play any game that had the dynamically enriched platform that Star Wars Galaxies had prior to patch 9. I now play World of Warcraft, but only because the game I loved is gone. If I could play a pre-patch 9 SWG I would return in a heart beat. Lucas Arts is too full of themselves to understand that Blizzard already had the gaming market through early releases of Warcraft at Walmart. They feel that because they are Lucas Arts and the product is "Star Wars" that it should have top billing in gaming just as the name does on the big screen. Whats worse, SOE doesnt have the balls to be a gaming company and stand up to SOE. Smedley thinks he will be a star, and in gaming he has become little more then a scar. Gamers dont care about names. We want quality. We want honesty. We want effort at creating something better, not product regression to some retarded system called NGE. Ill just keep playing this silly cartoon crap WoW until I find a game with as much potential as Star Wars Galaxies once had. Good luck to all you who have been WTF PAWNED by Smedley and the peons from Lucas Arts and SOE. "SWG was a world, now it's just a game" -adamrk- "When the game was good, you didn't have to ask where the population was, because it was everywhere. When the game was good you didn't have to ask which server had population, because they all did. When the game was good you didn't have to beg friends to give it a try, because they were already playing. " - Salty Pete |

I agree with everything you said, but lets not forget, at this point, LucasArts, particularly with its Star Wars Brand, is more interested in marketing and roylaty collecting than anything else. Both companies are more interested in getting something for next nothing and that is what this is about. Personally, I don't have a problem with them making money if they would deliver what they promise and Lucas Arts, in particular, has a hard time with deliverying interactive content that is not 100% controlled. |

In many many posts I have tried to tell people that SOE is only at ault for being liars and not in control of their product but that Lucas Arts was pulling the strings. It is good to see it admitted from SOE at long last.
From the article:
Smedley told me that focus groups drove the changes and what was best for the game. "SWG was a world, now it's just a game" -adamrk- "When the game was good, you didn't have to ask where the population was, because it was everywhere. When the game was good you didn't have to ask which server had population, because they all did.
