Welcome to your next guild - Possibly. Now, before I proceed with this introductury post, let me start out by excusing for any spelling or grammatical errors. English is not my first language, so you'll have to cope :) Anyways... on we go. Renegade Insane Asylum is a brand new guild with one goal - and that is to create a community of likeminded gamers with a desire for a long term guild membership with the goal to make friends... perhaps for life. Before I proceed with the actual guild information, I would like to share my idea, vision and intention for creating Renegade Insane Asylum (Henceforth known as R.I.A.). Let's take the name first. It sounds somewhat abstract, but it has an actual meaning.
Isn't that why we all play games? To have fun.. to enjoy ourselves, and to (even for just a brief moment) escape the problems of the real-world. Personally there is nothing (well perhaps for one thing) that helps relieve stress as much as a good gaming session infront of the computer. So, in that way, we're all renegades from our real life.
Insane is a dangerous label to use.... if you put too much into the word. But aren't we all a little insane to spend so much time in a virtual world for enjoyment when we could take a walk and enjoy... life.. the wind.. the stars.. the forest... the sounds.
Well... we all have use for an Asylum occasionally... perhaps our community will be an asylum for you?
As for myself.. I'm 30 years old, live in the northern part of Denmark and work as a system administrator for a very successful IT company. Nearly 2 years ago I found the love of my life in a wonderful girl and we have a 120 pound Newfoundlander (dog) who's 10 months old. We recently took the descision to become parents, so hopefully that will happen sometime in the near future. Why share so much about myself? Well.. mainly just to give you an idea of who I am since I'm the founder of R.I.A. and the one who eventually will take it upon me to make this whole project succeed. I'm hoping we all in time become close friends and have a place for you to hang out.. and feel at home.. even though this is a base on the internet with people all around the world.
Being 30 years of age, and having played several games throughout the years, I've also been a part of several guilds. One thing I almost continuously bump into is l33t sp34ak1ng d00dz who think they are a better person than you (or at least act like it) just because they have advanced more than you have in a given game.
R.I.A. will be a community with interrests in more than one game. In a community with enough people, there will always be people who have an interrest in one game more than another.... with more gaming sections you are almost certain to have friends from the guild/community to play with since there without a doubt will be more from R.I.A. playing the game. If a new game get's enough hype from members in the guild/community, we will establish a section for that specific game and start to work out the plans and with that be ready at launch.
I don't want powerhungry people swinging a whip because of a title within the guild. And I want all to be able to feel welcome within the guild, and have a role to fill. Regardless of just being a contributor as a normal member inside the community, or having a leadership role. Being a leader doesn't make you more important than any other member. It simply means that you have been given a chance to lead people because you have the personality, the organizational skills, the diplomatic skills and the desire! Being the founder, all I require personally is the right to veto any descision if I feel it's damaging for the guild or doesn't seem to go along with the vision intended. This is not a right I hope I will have to execute very often. The community as a whole will have a global council consisting of at least 1 representative from each gaming section. To begin with, I'm going to aim for around 5 councillors. The leadership in each gaming section will then have their own democratically elected leadership. Each election will happen once every 3-6 months after game launch. If the leaders have done a good enough job there should be no problems for them getting re-elected. There is no maximum length any leader can serve. As long as the members are content - that's all that matters. Details on leadership in general is still not completely final and will have to be custom designed to fit each game.
Now on to what you've been waiting to read about I presume - What role will R.I.A. have in PBS? Now, this is yet to be decided... but it will be one of either two things: The coming members of the guild community will be able to take part in finalizing the plans and structure for this gaming section. A good solid plan, theme and idea will always be prioritized, so if you feel like you are interrested in playing one of these, and at the same time have an interrest in shaping up such a community, then you are most likely what we're looking for, and I hope you will take it into your consideration to apply.
You will found ours right here: Renegade Insane Asylum. Now, when you visit this site, you will notice the template might not look like something related to pirates of the burning sea. This template is not finished yet but will be shortly. For now we only have a generic template and the template for the World of Warcraft section finished. These skins are selectable once you are registered. The Pirates of the Burning Sea game section is well on the way - and with YOUR help, it will be better, more complete and fully flexible to handle our upcoming tasks of running the PBS guild section.
Until then.

First off, I enjoyed the post. You sound like my type of gamer. Question though.... I have my heart set on playing a merchant. Do merchants exist in a pirate society or are they strictly raiders ? Im more of a social / crafter / merchant type of player. I dont avoid combat but I tend to enjoy other aspects of gaming far more |

Hi riker, Either way, if all works out as it's supposed to do, playing a pirate should be tougher then joining any of the nations. It's harder to get bigger ships, and there's a lot less 'safe water' for us. Though, a lot of people speculate that the pirate side will initially be overpopulated. We'll see in due time. Sail safely, LordGrokk aka Captain Jherid,

http://www.flyinglab.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=11362 according to the responses I got, pirates can indeed be merchants although a tougher path to go. Im up for the challenge though I applied on your site and look forward to running cargo for you |

Hey Riker, just reading over your application together with Raam. Glad to have you on board. Feel free to post a bit on our forums too, they're not exactly at the pinnacle of activity, so I can allways use a hand to make the place feel a bit more lively. See you around. And lets hope it won't take too long before we can sail out :D (O btw, I think you might like to hear this: we're also interested in Age of Conan and Vanguard, in due time, if we grow enough, we'll probably also end up with section for those games). LordGrokk aka Captain Jherid,
