Why would they publish it on an outdated system (Xbox instead of Xbox 360) of a direct competitor (Microsoft) to their own Playstation console ? Personally I can imagine them launching SWG on their new PS3 ... but not on any MS product. There were some premature SWG website ads for consoles in 2003 ... and this looks like one, necroed by whoever had the link boomarked. Have fun Erillion |

Because SWG is the property of Lucas Arts. They would have the final say in anything. As good as the PS2 is/was. It is no where near as powerful as the Xbox. Being that the PS2 Harddrive wasn't as wide spread as they would have liked. Released SWG on a console such as the PS2 would have been a hassle. As it would have require them to carry copies of it bundled with a Harddrive as well as not bundled with a Harddrive (For those that already bought FFXI bundle). Not to mention the PS2 isn't bundled with a Network adapter either. Where as the Xbox already comes with a built in Hard Drive and Online Network Structure. In War - Victory. |

Muhahahaha, My fake ego? And you basing this on my posts here, well well my young apprentice. SOE had the starter kit boxes up on many sales web sites but denied their existence for days. The truth is now revealed and once again SOE has put SWG into turmoil. They did plan to put the game on X-box but have decided to put it off. I think that they should, the game has been dummied down and the x box console owner does not have the hard feelings of being betrayed 2 times in a year. |

The DEV's and SOE actually deni any plans to publish SWG for a Console. But. look back in teh past, her denials gets louder and louder so i wont be surprised to see an SWG Version for the X-Box in stores, and SOE still saying such Version dont exists.

Some people will grasp at anything to verify this rumor. Why would SWG be released for, of all systems, the original XBOX? Now that the 360 is officially out, there is no way an MMORPG (which are hoped to have long lifespans) would be released on a system that is now on it's way out. Also, look at the features description below the picture of the gamebox. It describes the old version of SWG, not the NGE version. This is clearly an old product entry for a version of the game that never made it into development. But speculate on, don't let me stop you.... |

if it doesnt get shut down i could see this happening but....... you know how reliable the internet can be at times, why in the hell would SOE put the game on the XBOX first, and do you know how easy it is to cut and past the top portion of the XBOX logo onto the PC version's retail box...i mean come on. |

Nah. It's been there for almost three years now, since the time porting SWG to consoles was actually considered. It was cancelled around the time of PC version's release, but some shops still haven't updated. Take a look here http://games.teamxbox.com/xbox/417/Star-Wars-Galaxies/ |

Yeah, this was supposed to be coming out pre-KOTOR on Xbox. Maybe on PS3, or 360, but not on xbox. |

Man your an idiot, if you knew how to do research like myself then you would have found that this is outdated, and it WAS a project that was shut down a loooong time ago. and this is an extremely old web page. You must be the kind of guy who reads spam and actually believes that kind of crap.

LOL, that is an old web page. This rumor has been out for awhile, and I did some research on it back in November after the NGE came out, and I have come to the personal conclusion that it's an untrue rumor. Until I see something more substantial than that web page over and over again, I can't buy it. If it were true, every PC Game seller in the US would feature that on their websites also. |

It says, In-depth skill-based system of advancement. It's an old article, there is no longer an in-depth skill-based system. They got rid of it in the NGE. This is probly left over when they first thought about releasing to console over 2 years ago. |

This is the perfect place to say that from what i was told SOE have always planned to put SWG out on console but run into one problem with all console companys including SONY(PS2/PS3/PSP) there own master company!
In 2 words the problem they faced was Quality Control, this is something all console company's have in common they want a game that is 90% bug free and with online options on latest next generation consoles they also want the remaining 10% of bugs cleaned up within certain time limit, this is something SOE cannot promise on a leagal document so all console company's have refused to endorse SWG on there system.
A online UELA has still to be proven to hold its weight in a court of law, until it has its just a block of random text |

"A online EULA has still to be proven to hold its weight in a court of law, until it has its just a block of random text" LMAO, that is so true. I want so bad for some sort of "severe leagal action" to befall SOE over this SWG betrayal. (Like Lifetime Free Server Access on any type of Pre-NGE server) LOL! |

Ok to the OP of the thread... The president of SOE has said it himself. There is not going to be a console version of SWG released. The game is not built to be supported on multiple platforms only PC. Now I played SWG since launch and quit about a month after the NGE came out, so yea I know those guys at SOE lie all the time. However one thing I also know about the SOE team... they are completely ruled by money. Do you realize why they didn't make the NGE be SWG 2? Cause they didn't want to pay more staff to devolpe, and maintain seperate servers and versions of SWG. If they were not willing to do that (even to save their collective behinds) why would they pay to do the same for a totally different platform, not to mention each console is a totally seperate platform. No the president was not lying, mind you he did say that perhaps in the long run there might be a chance but he said no one was looking into it and no work was being done. Now for the "proof" which is a UK based software reseller. If you save the image of that box with the xbox emblem and then look at it in a preview.. you can tell the top half was graphically added to the orignal image... just crank up the size and you will see what I mean. I am positive this reseller is just making an error. Notice how there are none for sale? This rumor needs to die... besides who cares if there is a console version? Do you think it would replace PC versions? NO Do you think it would make the game better? NO so then why waste time with this silly BS. OP I would get off this rumor train if you expcet people to ever trust or respect what you have to say... my 2 cents. |
