MMORPG IRTH ONLINE RELEASED BY MAGIC HAT SOFTWARE

DEDHAM, MANOVEMBER 1, 2005 – Fantasy-based MMORPG Irth Online has been released by developer Magic Hat Software, and is now available for purchase at www.irthonline.com.

“After two years in development, and with consistently valuable and energetic input from our loyal Beta testers, Irth Online is now is now ready for commercial release,” says Alan Chipura, Lead Game Designer. “Our development experience has been creative, challenging, mentally stimulating, and, of course, lots of fun – the same experiences gamers will enjoy in Irth Online.”

Irth Online, priced at $29.95 with a monthly subscription fee of $13.95, is available in three formats. Gamers with a high speed Internet connection may purchase an Irth Online access key to play the game online, and gamers using a dial-up connection may purchase the game either on CD-ROM (two disc set) or on a DVD (discs are not available at retail stores). Orders for Irth Online may be placed online only at www.irthonline.com which explains the ordering procedure and payment options.

* Storylines and a quest system that are not static; they will be expanded and changed based on what player’s do

quest system is static, it's just that you might get same quest from two npcs = long time bug

* Unique housing system; players get a free home with land for expansion possibilities.

Expansion possibilities = When implemented

* Players can run their own villages

Not implemented

* Weather affects the game environment (e.g., rain will rust weapons and armor), and gravity, acceleration, velocity, friction, and momentum each affect game objects

Not implemented

* Monsters have random (not point located) spawning so there are no camping issues

Instead of spawn points there are spawn areas.

* PvP griefing is solved as players will not have to return to their body for resurrection

Not implemented

I'm pretty suprised they're even using false advertizing.

Even if this game improved 1000% from beta I would still not even play it for free, much less pay for it.

What a joke! How can they consider this a commercial product? It is so buggy and the features are not all there.

This false advertising borders on the illegal.  If you've paid money to this Massachusetts company and Irth refuses to refund your money, you can contact the Massachusetts Attorney General at : http://www.ago.state.ma.us/sp.cfm?pageid=1135

The eye will be watching

Im not currently playing Irth online at the moment but I still like to comment what Im seeing from players.  Its obivious MHS (Magic Hat Software), isnt a very large company.  They dont have the large amount of funds like Vivendi or SOE would have on their games.  No these people dont have millions of dollars in their pockets.  The developers are working with small amounts of money from limited investors that is supporting the development of the game.  I just see too many people already bashing this game and the developers for not providing the best play experience they would like.

Let me make an advice, relax these developers arent screwing you over.  You might see this game to continue to develop over the next six months, probably longer.  Of course lag seems to be the big issue, every game after it launch seem to have lag problems.  This probably will be fixed in the course of a few weeks.  Additions to the game will be made later.  Give this game a fair shot and play it for at least six months and let them improve the game.  Be supportive and help the developers on where they need to improve.  Seriously, if you arent happy with the game months later then sure leave.

We as co-founders and co-developers of Irth Online are having a dispute with Magic Hat Software. After years of developing the game we were shutout earlier this year. Unfortunately our attorneys have advised us not to comment further.
