Maybe they could put in the first and second age instead of just the time based around the books? So instead of just combating with orcs and rhun soldiers and minas tirith you could join in the dwarf war against the dragon?

That would be cool but not realy relevent to lots of lotr fans because they have only been fans since the movies. there are less people willing to read other writings of tolkien such as the silmarillion and study other books about the creation of Ea', Arda and the intricate history of middle earth. Therefore they would not realate as well to the earlier ages as they would to the third age.

I personaly would love to see that in the game. Maybe even ages as far back as the years of the lamps, or the wars between Melkor and the Valar. I enjoy all the stories and chronicles of middle earth almost as much as the lord of the rings. Sadly this is not the case for lots of lotr fans. And from a developers point of view, the third age attracts both fans of the films and people who read tolkiens other writings. Good idea tho.

Agreed, Werdo.  I'd love to see Doriath and rest.  Maybe get in on Beren's fight for the gems.  But as I've said in other posts of mine, it comes down to the rights, and Turbine doesn't own the rights to use anything from The Silmarillion.  Which is a bummer, because there is a bit of that area left in Middle Earth.  Most of it was swallowed by the sea, but there is a bit left just west of the Blue Mountains, which of course conveniently serves as the Western boundary of Eriador.  I had hoped they would maybe throw in a couple ruins from those ages, maybe be able to run across Melkor's fortress (Thangorodrim, I think it was), up in the Ice Bay.

yeah, good quest opportunities. As it is they are just gonna have to make up junk so that people will have something to do.

you could make that "Turbine doesn't own the rights to use anything from The Silmarillion YET . If LOTR online becomes a popular game, then surely they will buy the rights to use things from the Silmarillion...
