Open your profession screen CTRL-S Check out your pilot profession ... first tree is ships you can fly if you are a rebel pilot and you are tier 2 then you skipped the Y-Wing ( two seater ) and can now fly an Y-Wing Longprobe (singleseater). And you have to buy it from a shipwwright. So .. go to one of the red bazaar terminal, enable the player vendor search to the right (NOT the local bazaar), set it to galaxy wide, go to ships or deeds, and search for Y-Wing ... check out prices and how much mass you can have ... choose the highest mass at the most affordable price ... bookmark location of the vendor .. go there .. buy ship. The difference to the Z-95 Headhunter (available mass for components :12000) and the two Y-Wing ships (available mass for components :150.000) will be nothing short of spectacular. But the Y-wing flies like a piano. So try to get to tier 3, box 1 ASAP to be able to fly the X-Wing (available mass for components :101500, but highly maneuverable ... dont forget to open and close S-Foils) Have fun Erillion
PS: Best combat speed is the average of your engines Pitch, Yaw, Roll values .... if your engines has pitch 62, roll 60 , yaw 58, average 60 ... then your best combat speed will be 60 % of maximum speed. |

Combat Speed ... i have found out that many new pilots have REAL problems in space. Why ? Because they think high speed = good speed. And they could not turn for their lives - getting shot down by enemies all the time. Full speed is for flying from point A to point B. In combat you should fly slower - at "combat speed" - and you will turn MUCH MUCH faster , which means suddenly you are winning dogfights easily. "Local vendor" ... On the red bazaar terminals you can do two things. You can check the bazaar ... near you OR on the planet OR galaxy wide. Bazaar is limited to items that are not too expensive. But you can ALSO search for player vendors and their products on those terminals (look at the right upper side of the bazaar terminal menu). Again you can search nearby player vendors, those on the planet or galaxy wide. The later setting means - ALL crafters of THE WHOLE GALAXY suddenly offer you their products. You will see HUGE differences in price and quality .. and often bad quality and high prices are combined, and low price and high qualiy are on offer in more remote place. Take your time, check it out ... the whole galaxy is trying to sell stuff to you. If you dont know what I mean, ask someone in game to talk you through it. Have fun Erillion |

Moral victories don't count. |
most of the talk on the official pilot forums is that best turning speed varies by the ship type. haven't seen anyone there mention this. in my YT (with a 60-ish YPR) my best turning rate is actually at about 75-80% speed. In my Grievious (YPR of close 70) my best turning rate is about 75-85%. I think ship chassis has a lot to do with it as well. |

Yes, Chassis affects YPR as well as the Engine. But the engine gives you concrete numbers to play with whereas the chassis doesn't. The Engine numbers give you a really good starting point to determine how fast you should go. Different chassis will alter those numbers. As far as rebel ships the Y-Wing seems to lower the numbers whereas the X-Wing seems to leave them at about zero-sum while the A-Wing and Grevious allow you to actually go faster. Hope this helps! |

Every ship chassis modifies speed (also combat speed) and YPR of the engine with a chassis specific factor. Check them out here http://forums.station.sony.com/swg/board/message?board.id=pilot&message.id=61751 ...... its the third post with the ship pictures and stats. Have fun Erillion |
