I played this game from release to January before i quit, and i quit because my computer was sooo slow and the graphics looked so bad it totally ruined the player experience. I'm just wondering if I will notice any differences? Obviously they have added alot of items and quests, but are there any other big differences (good and bad) that i should know before i get into this again? -edit- |

I did the same as you, but I quit for different reasons. Now I reactivated 2 months ago and its great fun. I actually am mad at myself for quiting at the first place. |

Over the wind, |
If i were you, I would keep an eye on the update forums before you start and wait for combat changes to take place. This way you will not be biased against them and quit again out of disallusionment. They are doing a complete revamp to each classes skills and spells (Combat System) and it would just be best to wait. I wish you good luck in the game.

On September 12th the simultaneous release of Desert of Flames and Live Update 13 is going to be a glorious event for EQ2, the only worry I have is that it may be too late. Some of the features I'm looking forward to, and have played with on the test server are: Combat Abilities no longer have casting times comparable to Spells (0.2 seconds is now what I'm seeing for most abilities), this makes Fighters and Scouts feel much more like, well....um fighters and scouts. Encounter locking is being removed allowing you to now help if someone is getting beat up. This also allows for powerleveling to a degree, so long as the helper doesn't do more than 50% damage on the mob. Many spells and buffs that were limited to group members only can now be cast on anyone. The effect for buffs will last so long as the target remains within a certain range of the caster. Harvesting rare items has become a lot easier than before. Guilds no longer need patrons to level, the patron system is gone. Now everyone can contribute! The /con system has been revamped. Classes have had many changes made to them that will help to set them apart, Dirge and Troubador (both bard subclasses) are now much different for example. Invite group members and leave groups anytime now, and across zone lines! Dueling, and Arena style pvp have been introduced! Play games like CTF, etc.. in the new arena with DOF. New city with multiple factions waging a underground war with eachother. Combat in streets, Missions to take over opposing factions parts of the city, etc.. Guild Bank! Many other wonderful changes have already been put into play and there are still many more to come. IF SOE can bring some more players in with the Expansion, and IF the word can spread about what this game has become, rather than what it was, then EQ2 will survive and flourish. If not, it will merely survive on the players who are joining already daily, and the people who have stuck it out this long. Personally, I quit the game at one point being frustrated with many things about it. Having reactivated my account after a stint over at WoW, I have to say that I believe this will be the premiere MMO (as far as quality goes) for some time. That is, unless DDO is everything it wants to be. I urge you to come back AFTER the 12th and give it a try, you'll be happy you did, I bet. |

Just to add to my previous post - EQ2 is a much more fun place now. Combat changes are great, DoF lets you look at EQ2 from different prospective. Adventure Packs add even more fun.
