Pardon me, I have not played Planet side. Could you explain in more detail Im not familiar with MMO talk "static world" means nothing to me..Basicaly you think we have one base the aliens have one base and its Control Points like say Battlefield 2 only...long term? And much larger scale obviously. I mean I know the humans will never "lose" and it will take a long time for the bane to be destroyed but...I dont know what I want. I suppose I would just be happy for a co op FPS, because there ISNT a good one for PC.

You could sum up Planetside as a tugg of war that noone ever wins. You take a base, an hour later the oposition takes it back...on and on and on and on. Your side conqueres an entire continent, you come back the next day and the whole map is remade all over again. All your fighting must have just been for fun - because it sure didnt earn you anything.
They capture the base only so they can lose the base. |

As far as FPS games go, one that many peopel seem to be looking forward to is Huxely. Its worth a look. But it doesnt realy seems fair to compare Hux and TR, ones a straight up FPS with some rpg tacked on, and the other is all RPG. |

Might wanna start a new topic for it in the Pub, before we completely derail this particular thread. But for here and now I'll say: |

Well if you could do that that would be cool, I would try to find it. The intro video was definatley sexy. And one last thing, Static world anything goes, but "persistant world" I leave for the night and the city I took is still there in the morning unless my human opponents took it. Apprecitate the help.

Well after comparing the two Huxley seems to better fit my needs, but since thats more than 13 months away, TR will have to fill my needs. I am suprised that, with all the FPS hype, there hasnt been a single screen or video shot of an actual HUD, to show what its like. I think either Im overestimating the FPSness, or TR is underestimating ther FPSer. Logic..

Well hopefully they give out more info on it. Been wondering what all the special ablities, weapons and such are in the game. I'm a little hyped on it, it looks interesting. Yeah a little of Planetside, but with a little more substance to it. Weird that what I gathered is, it's not player vs player per say, more Player vs Enemy starship troopers style action. Way it seems and likly will happen, is instant missions, make us feel we did something, then find out the enemy has undone anything we did. Or at least give us some message saying "squad so and so, has successfully taken over base #11 from the enemy." And we can either try and protect that base from enemy trying to retake it, and the like. Something to get us engaged into the cycle more. I want to feel like whatever I do or the battles I won actually matter, which is really really hard to do in these kinda games. But it'd still be fun to try and drive enemy away from main base and take over their base of operations, even if for an hour. :) Alot of Eyecandy so far, but then again, all games are just that, till they add something else to the mixture. |
