My God....are all WoW trolls social retards?

I have received a lot of assistance from you guys & I greatly appreciate it.  I have some more, rather mundane questions to ask.  Once again your patience and experience would be greatly appreciated.

1.  How in the world do you kill a willowisp?  I'm a lvl 15 Paladin & I have no clue.  I understand that if you kill a willowisp, you receive a lightstone.  What are those used for?

2.  On the inventory screen, there is a section in the upper right that lists the number of "Radiant" and "Ebon" crystals that you have (needless to say I have zero).  What are those for & how do you get them?  Are those another upper level thing?

3.  How do I join a guild?  How do I know which guild is best for my race, class, and level (does that even matter)?  What level should I be before I join a guild?  Are guilds actively looking for new members or are they content to stick with their upper level studs?

4.  I have contacted the Wayfarers Brotherhood & during my first interaction with them they gave me a green crystal & told me to do some jobs for them in the Rujarkian Hills.  What is the green crystal for & can't they instantly transport me to those areas using their "Farstone Magic?"

5.  What does "buff" mean?

Gawd, I must sound like an incredible tool to all the EQ experts!  Once again any pointers would be helpful.  I just wish the instuction manual would have all of this information in it, but I guess that would take away from discovering new things in the game.

Q1a ) Willowisps are evil. Wisps require magic weapons to be hit. Wisps are non-agressive, however they are extremely sociable. You need to find a weapon that has "Magic" listed in the top line of it's attribute to hurt them.
Q1b ) Willowisps drop "Lightstones", "Greater Lightstones" and "Burned Out Lightstones". Greater and normal Lightstones are great items for "light". All 3 types of Lightstones are used by different classes for spell research. You can give Lightstones and Greater Lightstones to some Gypsie woman for a spell book that sells for about 9 platinum (if you can talk to her).

Q2 ) Radiant and Ebon crystals are the rewards one earns for doing Dragons of Norrath (DoN) missions. I'm not sure what the lower lvl required is to do a DoN mission. These missions all start in LavaStorm. The number of crystals you receive varies based on the difficulty lvl of the mission. Radiant crystals are the rewards you get for doing "good" missions, while the Ebon crystals are the rewards you earn for doing "evil" missions. Crystals can be turned into a special merchant for armor and augments, much like LDoN points.

Q3 ) There is really no way to tell if a guild is good for you or not, without joining it, first. Many guilds have a reputation and that you can learn by just asking someone - "Hey, I saw a [insert guild name here] what do you think of them?" question to someone with a different tag. At lower lvls, there prolly aren't to many issues you need to worry about. Personally, I try to look and see what tags I see the most, then I ask around and see if they have a reputation and what are they doing, do they raid or just play, do the group, do they train people (this is a bad thing). Then, do they have a web page.

Q4 ) Great! You found an LDoN camp (cause I can't remember what that stands for). Part of the challenge that they need for you to beat, is to find the adventure zone in location. So, no, the lazy bards won't port you to the adventure location. However, that tends to be fairly close to where ever the camp is. You need the green stone so they will know you, next time /shrug (put it in the bank or put on one of your items).

Q5 ) Buff is a generic mmog term. Think of body builders who are 'buff'. When someone buffs you, they cast spells on you that improves your chances of survival. Strength buffs make you stronger, Charisma buffs make you prettier, AC buffs make you tougher to hurt.

<evil grin> I know your secret! Your a 5 year veteran, testing my patience!

LDoNs are .... I don't remember the what that stands for, but these are missions that you can do at wayfairer camps all around Norrath. Your reward for these missions are a certain number of points, that can be traded in at the wayfairer camps for items.

My dog barks some. Mentally you picture my dog, but I have not told you the type of dog which I have. Perhaps you even picture Toto, from "The Wizard of Oz." But I warn you, my dog is always with me.

Moo.

LDON = Lost Dungeons of Norrath

Odenathus covered it pretty thoroughly. On the guild issue, I'd say that if you find yourself grouping a lot with people from a certain guild and you like them pretty well, it's worth asking if they are recruiting. At least you will know some people who are active in your level range.

Wow!  That was quick and concise.  Thanks again Odenathaus & Neschira.  And yes Odenathus, I'm a veteran.  A 3 week veteran.

I rock.
