The thread hasn't been locked or deleted so check it out :)

BTW, best vid for me from DF1 from a funny guy: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6IvcTNk0N4s (just suffer through the first 40 seconds, although it helps to understand the ensuing story)

This video is such a beautiful thing and I always lamented it not getting the praise it should have gotten!

it has been adressed 1000000X to bring back darkfall 1.0..

Now that they see Uw is failing harder then 1.0 they let the thread open..its pathetic

40% of the 1.0 players has been banned from their forums and/or not reading the forums anymore and lost hope.. myself included..

http://www.ipetitions.com/petition/darkfall-10-server

i made the petition during beta of UW and people still signing it..

Made a ticket to support of av and wanted to pay the costs in advancedto run a server also showed the petition to AV in order to get things rolling..

They banned both my accounts on the forums and game accounts for doing so.. LOL

LORD Zanul try to buy the 1.0 rights of 1.0 and it costed 600k dollars..for a game that is lying somewhere in the basement

i would rather see this company run bankruppt, despite the patches they made with uw and communitcations improvements, they simply dont deserve any playerbase.

dont get me wrong.. i would play 1.0 in a heartbeat..

DF1 simply will not be brought back, ever. Get over it already.

Theyve made a lot of improvements the past few months to make it more similar to DF1, like the custom roles, and have also been working on things to make it even better than DF1 in several ways. The main thing missing now is they need to smooth some things with combat and it will be a superior game in nearly every way.

DF1 was a broken mess of a game, hence why it's gone, and why barely anyone was playing it at the end.

It would make ZERO sense for AV to dig it back up, have to build a multi hundred thousand dollar server to support it, hire more people to MANAGE the server, and even more people to deal with the bugs that popped up regularly on the old server, just to satisfy 100 people.

Get over it.

the reason why 1.0 is gone and uw is made is the coding of 1.0..

1.0 was not made by the people who are working now @ av's office. only tasos is left who understood the coding..

now that the coding is adjusted to students "so called developers" from AV they read it and adjust it..

The problem what they have now is the following:

- they simply cannot copy the smoothness of combat

- uw has major performance problems 10v10 battles are lagging like shit

- population is all time low..

this is the history of this company:

- AV bought the rights of 1.0 from  razorwax.

- launched the game.. massive amount of players felt in love...over 150k boxed sales were made over the 4 years..

- some orginal developers went away and some worked for av  for couple of months

- tell the playerbase lies over the years about upcoming features

- leave darkfall 1.0 to rot never patch or update it

- continually change goals of what to do with the game..(https://forums.darkfallonline.com/archive/index.php/t-300032.html)

- get an investor MGAME

- develop a new game

- launch this game with less features then the orginal game and/or half of the things broken

- sell less boxed versions then 1.0

- start patching uw because its so successfull

- bann everyone who speaks over df1 and remove threads on the forum

- watch server statistics of active players both NA/EU

- leave df1 thread open and see if there is any more intrest in 1.0 to get more money(speculation)

once there was a time in darkfall that the their forums had over 1k users @ any giving time logged in on their website..

Currently they are happy with 150 users @ average..  which tells you what?

the reason why 1.0 is gone and uw is made is the coding of 1.0..

1.0 was not made by the people who are working now @ av's office. Incorrect. Most of the core team is the same. Only one of the 4 founders left, and he recently came back. only tasos is left who understood the coding.. Tasos isn't even a coder. He's a businessman who deals with funding. He's never coded.

now that the coding is adjusted to students "so called developers" from AV they read it and adjust it..

The problem what they have now is the following:

- they simply cannot copy the smoothness of combat

The combat was actually left unchanged in terms of "smoothness" until recently when a bunch of people requested they change it.

- uw has major performance problems 10v10 battles are lagging like shit

Darkfall had the same performance problems for most of its run after the first expansion.

- population is all time low..

People trot that out about every 2 weeks. Darkfall has been at its "all time low" since the first month of launch. All other signs show that since the removal of the class system, DFUW is healthier than its ever been, which is WAY healthier than DF1 was for most of its run. But since there are no numbers to back up ANY of this, its a moot point.

this is the history of this company:

- AV bought the rights of 1.0 from  razorwax. Wrong. Razorwax was a company of 5 people in a Norway basement coding a game part time. They met with their friend Tasos, who suggested they move to Greece where the taxes are less. They did so, and merged with Aventurine, and began development anew in 2003. All the same people involved, just a new location and ADDITIONAL staff.

- launched the game.. massive amount of players felt in love...over 150k boxed sales were made over the 4 years.. Actually, there was a huge rush to get into the game at launch, followed by an even bigger drop off. No numbers were ever released for box sales, but towards the end of its life, only a couple hundred people were playing DF1 on NA1. But again, almost all these numbers are hearsay.

- some orginal developers went away and some worked for av  for couple of months A few art people left, and one of the original founders. No sign that any of the others left.

- tell the playerbase lies over the years about upcoming features If by lies, you mean, missing ETAs. Which are two very idfferent things.

- leave darkfall 1.0 to rot never patch or update it They updated it for 3 years, but there were too many core problems in the coding, and in the design to fix it without an overhaul. So they spent a year on the overhaul.

- continually change goals of what to do with the game..(https://forums.darkfallonline.com/archive/index.php/t-300032.html)  Yes, plans constantly change. That happens with all games, all the time.

- get an investor MGAME They've always had investors. They just pick the right ones. They delayed the game an entire two years initially because the only investors interested were ones that wanted them to take out full loot and FFA PVP.

- develop a new game An overhaul of the main game. Not a side project.

- launch this game with less features then the orginal game and/or half of the things broken Nothing was broken. They did have fewer features, as did DF1 when it launched. But the difference was the features they did have weren't broken the way DF1's were.

- sell less boxed versions then 1.0 They don't sell any box versions of UW so... not sure which ass you're pulling this out of, your agenda is showing.

- start patching uw because its so successfull ....I thought before you said they stopped patching DF1 and left it "to rot". Is patching a good thing or a bad thing buddy?

- bann everyone who speaks over df1 and remove threads on the forum The only people who get banned are people who hack.

- watch server statistics of active players both NA/EU ....wut

- leave df1 thread open and see if there is any more intrest in 1.0 to get more money(speculation) What? Bringing back DF1 would be an unmitigated financial disaster on all fronts. Anyone with slight common sense would understand that.

once there was a time in darkfall that the their forums had over 1k users @ any giving time logged in on their website.. Yes, and because they left their forums unmoderated, most people abandoned them because it was a cess pit of constant trolling.

Currently they are happy with 150 users @ average..  which tells you what? That you like to make up numbers?

My god, the amount of fiction in this thread is almost making me want to throw up. Let me revise, as someone who has actually worked professionally with AV in SOME capacity.

Smoked.

I played DF1 from start till the servers were shut down. Main reason is the combat was the best out of any game end of story.

The combat in UW sucks so much. Its just the feel of the game, not tight and sharp like DF1. So I dont play UW for that reason.

We are playing DF1.5 now that they removed roles.  Its much better than the bunny jumping, trapping mob and grinding for days era DF1.0 was.

Support what we have now as it is only going to get better!  I would have the developers IMPROVE DF1.5 instead of reverting back to a junk game.

hehe... i meant the same.. instead of game.. if you reffering to the typo i made.. :P

but i also smoke alot indeed..;)

found it pretty funny that after almost 2 years of no 1.0 some of the same people still trying to resurrect it..

I kinda agree with this snoepie dude/girl tho.. company dont deserve a playerbase..

btw: i see alot of old 1.0 players popping up on the repopulation forums..

you should check it out aswell.. its gonna be good.. i played some hours already besides that the devs there are very open to suggestions and communitation is going on a daily basis..

This is a wrong forum for this.  This forum is for Darkfall Unholy Wars (a different game).  For Darkfall Online  or DF1, you should post that in this forum http://www.mmorpg.com/gamelist.cfm/game/4/view/forums/forum/454/General-Discussion.html  .

The opening of the OP here is referring to a thread on the DF:UW forums, thus, it's a valid thread here.  [mod edit]

I think the person who actually worked with AV is definitely wrong on one thing...

- they simply cannot copy the smoothness of combat

The combat was actually left unchanged in terms of "smoothness" until recently

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Sorry - but I do not see how combat was left unchanged when since day 1 it has been nowhere near as responsive and fluent as it was in DF1.

It is very responsive now.  Wobble is gone too.

i think UW is good and getting better, i never played 1 but i like the one i have.

all it needs is a better economy and alignment, i dont think df1 had those.

RIP Ribbitribbitt you are missed, kid.
