All the refunds? Please post a link to an actual source of how many refunds were given?

People just leaving?  Please provide a source of people just leaving?

Low sales?  Please provide a link that stated low sales?

200k seems like a desperate extremely bias pulled out of a$$ number.

Thank you for trying I guess...

Im sorry you dont agree.

Im sorry you didn't like the game but 700k+ people did.

You better have proof to that number. People dont like when you give numbers.

First page top post - More proof than any other given in this thread yet.

Nope. Not at all. They just made a wild guess. Like I said my number at least have some math added to it.

If someone would like to give anything to discredit what I am saying you are all welcomed to do so.

I dont see how 200k is such a hateful thing to say and why everyone has their panties in a bunch.

I love how everyone seems to be guessing the population numbers for ESO.  I guess I'll play too.  I think anything over 500k is a stretch, given the number of "I'm leaving" and "I want a refund" threads I've seen just on this site alone.  So, I'm gonna guesstimate 500k or lower population for the game, which isn't bad at all.

http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2014-07-18-elder-scrolls-online-has-775-000-subscribers-report

"A report published by SuperData Research (via GamesIndustry International) claims The Elder Scrolls Online had 772,374 subscribers in June."

This seems about right, 420k box sales + 3-4 times more digital downloads =  1.2-1.6 mill or so sold, with about a 50% retention rate.

Not even WoW -arguably the most successful MMO ever - has that high a retention rate. I don't think that number adds up for ESO (or any MMO for that matter).

Only 30 Percent of WoW Players Get Past Level 10 - Blizzard CEO Mike Morhaime

What I estimate for any MMO that's not WoW is < 30%. Twenty percent retention rate seems more plausible for any run-of-the-mill MMO.

If you actually read the full article it says: "Our research shows that trial players who play World of Warcraft past level ten are much more likely to stick with the game for a long time" "Currently, only about 30 percent of our trial players make it past this threshold.

Subscription retention is very different for WoW.

How is this different for those who decided to sub?

When I bought the game, I was on a trial, until the moment I decided to sub.

Where do you think subscribers start off?

When you buy the box for ESO you get 30 free days. You can try wow for free up to level 20. There is a huge difference in the retention of people that try something for free compared to people that already bought the game.

The article quoting the CEO is from the 11th of Feb. 2010.

World of Warcraft Starter Edition was introduced mid-July 2011.

Edit: I'll stick to my point that it matters not one iota how people pick up WoW. Whether it's by the old 10-day (or however many) trial form or through this new S.E.

After that article I clearly remember this retention rate benchmark being used everywhere and so far has held up for every single MMO launched since. I posted it only because I saw the 50% retention rate comment.

Aside from that, if one has proper estimates about how many clients were sold, then the retention rate benchmarks hold up solidly.

It's not that 200k is a bad thing, it's that you are saying you used math when you didn't use any math. I don't know how much more clear people can be with you. At this point I'm beginning to think there may be a language barrier. The top post discredits everything you say, whether you agree or not, because they have more information than you do.

If you mention rose tinted glasses, you better be referring to Mitch Hedberg.

It's a blood in the water thing now. The points have all been made and responding now gives the forum warriors more ammo.

We can only go by what the report says and we will never truly know what the actual numbers are. I quit many weeks ago and its was my perception (while playing) that that BOTS outnumbered the real players. It would be interesting to see actual player numbers versus bot accounts.

All my opinions are just that..opinions. If you like my opinions..coolness.If you dont like my opinion....I really dont care.
Playing: SWTOR, Marvel Heroes and WOT.

You didn't even read the article then. This conversation is moot, and I'm convinced at this point you just want to argue. Repeating yourself over and over doesn't make your guessing turn into real math, no matter how much you want it to be. I'll leave you to harass other people in here, just know that you make me giggle with your inability to achieve a basic understanding of how math works.

They're really careful not to compare it to other MMO's.  Subscriber numbers in ESO, then they talk about profits with other MMO's.  Interesting.

Unless Zenimax itself give out official numbers rest is just forum pvp.

Im guessing its around 200k. After all the refunds and people just leaving the game along with low sales. 200k seems like a pretty high number.

Why are you sorry? You pulled numbers out of your ass with a complete guess.

Not really made up. The game didnt sell well, the game had tons of bugs where the majority left. Tons of refunds were given. Given the average retention rate the 200k figure seems about right on the money.

Hmm well you didn't provide any last time, pretty sure you won't this time but let's try this again shall we?

A link of how many refunds were given?

A link that shows "the majority" left?

A link the game didn't sell well?

Now until you can provide some facts, links, evidence for your made up number that's not worth the paper you would write it on and obvious that it is just A number you just pulled out of nowhere in a poor attempt to bash a video game.

How is 200k subs bad? Eve only has 500k which was a little older of a number and has been dipping. If you have proof to discredit anything I said you are welcomed to post whatever you want.

The OP's original post discredit's everything you said because even if it isn't 100% reliable, it's a lot more reliable than some guy armchair quarterbacking about a game he obviously dislikes.

Eve hasn't had 500k subs for quite a while by the way, in fact there was a post the other day about how low Eve's pop has gotten lately on this forum.

http://eve-offline.net shameful display really Aeon ( 28k is about 450k active subs ).

Who ever thinks that MMO developer give refunds is wrong lol...  "Your online game experience may change at any moment"  This makes for no refunds.  The game is awesome and keeps getting better with ever update.  Just give it a chance you will see.

Here is something I don't get. Someone posts some data to share some information.  Many people are quick to tear is down with the common statement being I think that or I believe...  If you are going to refute something please use something meaningful rather than stating an opinion with no basis.  Link an article or something factual that can be verified.

According to my extensives calculations, I have come to the conclusion that 5.6789125678% of the players are illegal aliens from the planet Nibiru.

Using this number as a base we can then presume that the total subscriber base of ESO is sitting at preciseley 583,456.26745657

During a full moon of course.

I made a double sided USB cable and I plugged my Console into my PC... or did I plug my PC into my Console? Anyway I can now play Console games on my PC! and play PC games on my Console!

I am not sure why people are up in flames about 775k players subscribing for the second month, its not that great numbers, at least if you compare it to swtor, gw2 and ff14. Bcbully is making some funny WAG, and you can take them for what they are, just like his comparison posts between ESO and wildstar.

Superdata research has had a tendency to have poor analysis, they lump fremium with subscription, they say gw2 is f2p, they fail to attribute a 7M drop in subscribers with wow's 6M sub drop, but the data they get for ESO is given by bethesda so unless someone has a better source I have to live with 775k players paying $15 to play that pile of garbage for a second month.
