I don't have any complaints about the game just trying to get a buddy key to try it out.

I can only afford to play 1 monthly fee type game and I am already in one that I like. So I can't justify paying $60 to try the game to see if I like it better then what I am playing but I really want to try Wildstar.  From the videos I watched it looks like a game I would really enjoy.

So if anyone has a buddy key please PM me and I will be most grateful.

Complaints:

1. Look up the word "generic" and you will find WildStar.

2. The God awful level grinding that is mind numbingly boring. Go get 8 of this, go collect 5 of that etc

3. The classes. They aren't much fun.

4. I've played WoW, this is just WoW in space with lazers instead of casting fireballs.

Compliments

1. The art style. I actually didn't mind it, and love it or hate it you can't' crucify Carbine for trying to be different!

2. The FPS and performance was good, although I have a pretty beasty RIG. No problems for me here. Avg FPS is about 45-50

I don't think the future for this game is very bright. We already had a WoW clone that came along and made end game raiding its thing, and even went above and beyond anything WS does in the way of dynamic events such as zone invasions, world invasions etc, it was called RIFT.

It didn't stop RIFT going F2P, and it had alot more going for it then WS.

Leveling is probably the worst part.

Great gameplay, fun classes, cool housing, lots of content, amazing soundtrack, a well rounded MMO but after about 25-30 hours of gameplay it starts to make your skin itch.

Kind of like crabs - or something.

I really liked the game but the bots are all back and going on 3 days reporting, they are still there. ESO is looking better.

the game gives me anxiety. I have a hard time putting it down and the entire experience in game is a yelling narrator, NPCs quickly telling me to kill these things, then when I get there I hit a challenge and have to kill more things within a time limit, when I'm done with that, I stumble into another cluster of ! ! ! to pick up to kill their things.

the whole game session, my blaster echoes the same pattern over and over and the sounds alone will drive you mad. not to mention the background sound is most zones is a complete warzone....nonstop!

I'm not a locust, this game is perfect for content locusts

My biggest complaint so far....

Too....much....stuff.....going.....on.....screen....at....the....same.....time.

Way too many pop up windows.

CHALLENGE!!

Quest dialog boxes.   I absolutely DESPISE the NPC interaction system.

Radio Calls.

Smart-assyness Voice Overs (I get it...it's trying to be funny...but enough is enough).

The UI is just atrocious.

I want to game in the world I want when I want.

Based on this statement i would be more inclined to subscribe to mmos if i could freeze my subscription manually when i know i wont be playing, knowing that my remaining paid time will be there waiting for me to manually resume it again on my account.

This needs to become a thing, IMO.

My big gripe? General movement. It seems to lag; it's not as crisp as other titles. For example, try turning while just standing still. The toons head will move, and lag about 1-2 seconds and then the body will turn. You have to pay close attention if you're moving to avoid getting smacked by high damage. The laggy-ness seems just due to the animation, or rather the abundance of animation that the toon has to go through before actions take place.

A smaller gripe is the mount action. You can be looking at your toon, hit the mount key, and the camera will switch to the front facing (looking at their back) position. it's a little disorienting. That said, the mount animation is not very imaginative... poof, no smoke, no action suggesting that you're mounting, just the wringing of the toons hands and then your mounted. Not a good transition in my book.

There... lol, I've got 3 on my list so far. Not big gripes, but things that bug me none-the-less.

A lot of the comments on this site will make you wonder.  It's strange reading all the complaints about the leveling grind and generic questing when the diversity of objectives may actually surpass Wow.  The leveling speed is pretty fast too.  Have two 50s and only play a couple hours a night.  You'd think if they had so much of a problem with Wildstar's "boring grind" then most themepark mmos(wow, rift, tera, eq2, eso, aoc, tsw, gw2, swtor, etc) would be completely unbearable.

Now for my biggest complain....I don't really like the Adventures and I'm not sure why they are part of the "Endgame" progression.  They're not particularly exciting or difficult.  Just time consuming and get pretty boring after a couple times.

How is this hard to understand? Questing is one of the few leveling paths that remain fluid from start to finish if handled properly. Everything else involves running the same few options over and over again (BG's and Dungeons) or mob grinding. Those options are fine for those making a beeline toward endgame content, yet they add little substance for those seeking a journey .

What are you comparing Wildstar to for your opinion?  Other mmos?  Single-player rpgs?  Nothing, just want to complain or argue?  You didn't even reply to the part you highlighted.  I said there was a lot of diversity in the quests and they weren't all generic.  Then you went on to talk about how questing was a option to level....

When leveling in Wildstar there are quests, tasks, challenges, zone events, world bosses, battlegrounds, shiphands, adventures, dungeons, path objectives, gathering/crafting, and housing.  If you were to change the 1-50 experience in Wildstar what would you add?

You said you find it hard to understand, why many of the complaints about wildstar revolve around it having very generic and bland quests. I simply explained why some would have a problem with that.

Based on what I saw when on a buddy pass I'd agree with those complaints.

What would I change? Nothing... I'd simply play something else.

The classes are made poorly.

Initially the seem ok or even good, but as you progress through them you realize that

a) They have a number of bugs in the Tier 4/8 special effects.

b) many aspects of the abilities do not play well together.  For example the in the medic the telegraph for a field (persistent square aoe) make the telegraph for gamma rays (3 thin rectangles) really hard to see.  When you consider that the tier ability for gamm rays requires that all three "beams" hit you start to realize they did not put a lot of though into what they were doing.

c) there is very very little build diversity.  Their teir is basically a non-factor.  It offers no real choice only an illusion of choice.  They completely failed in their tier system.  Some classes are worse than others, but by and large they failed and failed badly with this system.  Again because they just didn't bother to deeply consider interactions.

Your renting server space for your character. Even if you dont play a day your character/s would still be using that space. Its like if Im renting a house and not have to pay for the time im not home....

Lets see, your character information, et al probably occupies a gnat's ass worth of space on the server... in fact you could easily store it client side, but they don't allow that, do they.  So no, it's not server space you are renting for your character, it's server access that you are renting.

It's not like renting a house at all.  Would you rent a house and not actually live in it?

Your car gets 400 miles to the gallon, joe schmucks car gets 30 miles to the gallon.  You get to pay $1200 a gallon and he gets to pay $3 a gallon.  You both are getting equal distance for the same price.  In other words, $15 worth of game time should be equal game time no matter how often you log on.

Anyone who thinks the resources used to allow people to play on the servers in anyway lines up to sub fees is completely out of touch with the costs of servers/bandwidth/DB space.

They wouldn't need to charge more than $1-2 per month to cover purely letting you play operational costs.

But what are the biggest complaints that can actually be changed, the art style is never going to change so that puts you with the game isnt for you not something to complain about.

I just havent heard anywhere near as negative reviews and comments about this game as other recent games that have come out.

Also just as a side question, What are your favorite things in the game?

Game has a lot of production quality and is very well done.  Problem is the game is not for me.  I am not interested in this style of gaming.

The things I dislike about the game that will never ever change:

  1. Cartoony to the max.
  2. Humorous and childish.  Feels too Saturday morning cartoon. I need to have grit and despair in my gaming
  3. Combat is good but I can never get over the telegraph system, too much screen clutter.
  4. Fed-Ex task based questing system for progression.  Been there, done that.  The genre needs something new for progression.
  5. World feels too small and clustered.  I want wide open spaces with no zoning except between dungeons and overland world.
  6. Endgame is built on Raiding and Instanced based PvP.  Not my cup of tea.
  7. Classes feel weird for a scifi game.
  8. Leveling is too quick and meaningless.
  9. Subscription.  It's an outdated business model and needs to die a painful death for the genre.

If your idea of a Sandbox is open FFA Full Loot PvP, full crafted world with minimal support for anything combat then your sandbox ideas are bad! Sandbox means open world, non-linear gaming PERIOD!

The sub fees are going to the massive monthly content updates, cupcake. This is Wildstar not WoW.

Kind of like crabs - or something.

I hate to use the misnomer that it's a WoW clone.  But it's a WoW clone.  That skin itch is because it's exactly like eveyr MMO released over the last 8+ years.

I think anyone who is like me and these posters come to realize that you can argue till your blue in the face about what makes a WoW clone but for me Wildstar felt EXACTLY like every MMO game I've tried over the last 8 years.  Linear questing, easy leveling, boring solo gameplay.  Too me this is the essence of a WoW clone.

If your idea of a Sandbox is open FFA Full Loot PvP, full crafted world with minimal support for anything combat then your sandbox ideas are bad! Sandbox means open world, non-linear gaming PERIOD!

I feel like 90% of the people on this forum don't even play MMOs, they just sit around complaining and hoping for the holy grail.

Still not seeing where I said anything was hard to understand....misinformation on this site is never hard to understand.

It is strange that people who have actually played this game would think that the questing is more generic than other similar mmos.

Which mmo has less generic questing and why is the questing better?
